Suggestions & Concerns / Re: Why exactly was I banned?
« on: September 05, 2010, 01:47:06 PM »
We can't figure it out. The only explanation we can think of is that you were using a proxy or the IP of someone who's banned. There were no other users banned in July who share your host or anything like that, so it doesn't look like anyone banned you by accident. Did you try to log on again in the days after you were first banned?

Thanks for trying though.

Anyway, I didn't try to log in again. I always have it on auto login, so I guess I assumed I was logged in, and if I recall, it's not possible to log in while banned.

And I'm pretty sure I've never posted from any other IP, maybe from another computer but still the same connection.

Catchpa was probably banned for constantly complaining.

Probably, but Ichi whispered me and still have yet to find out why.

If you want to have a discussion, it wont be with me till you either make sense or stop the subtle personal attacks against me.

Meh. If you really want to troll RE noobs, I don't see why you can't just mozy on up to the upper fora.

Because deliberately trolling there is a bannable offence.

I've yet to see anyone banned for trolling.

Irony.

You don't know what irony is, as I have not been banned for trolling.

And retarded was never a bad word to use on this site, as I recall a mod even used it before and anyone who ever said the word was never told to not say it.

I was banned suddenly without warning somewhere around my latest post, which has been a while ago. I checked once every day to see if I was unbanned, but about a week later it still had not happened.

Anyway, due to busy school and me having a real life I decided I wouldn't bother looking for an admin to contact(Which apparently you have yet to include still in the ban msg). Now I checked if I could log in again, and see! It works!

Now, why was I banned?!

Blue, cerulean, azure...
Not the same word, but the same thing (well, minor shade differences but still).

Exactly! Similar, not the same. That's the whole point.
The same applies to FE and RE. As many people stated here before, the belief doesn't greatly affect one's everyday life. However, the difference between the two is clear.
BiJane, I thank you for this point.

So what was your point in writing a word that translated is exactly the same as "pencil"? There's not a minor difference, it's the exact same thing.

8
Maybe it's because you're retarded seeing as you think of obscure words that I assume people have never really heard of.

ITT: Catchpa believes all people speak one language.
I assure you there is an estimate of 38 million people who know this word.
Want something more popular? Here goes: lápiz

Further proof that you're retarded. You think of "pencil", but pretend that it's totally different because you think of a word that translated is pencil.

Once again, the troll FEers start arguing pedantics.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: How come the earth isn't a cylinder?
« on: July 17, 2010, 04:09:04 PM »
Newcomers are generally confused about the answers in the FAQ. I suggest that better answers are provided, in the fashion as the link to the 40-men conspiracy is.

I don't understand. Are you criticising the views of FE'ers (represented by the answers), or the way those answers are explained? If the former, then once again, your criticism is misplaced at best. If the latter, how would you improve the answers? In what respect are they deficient?

And again it falls back to my point that your FAQ is outdated.

Outdated how? Are there more modern, recent answers that should take the place of those given? If so, could you identify which questions/answers are outdated, and why?

Though I don't have time to talk about stuff I've already said. Take a look at my thread: http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=38738.20 and read it, something which you're not very good at(But at least try).

As you well know, I not only read that thread, but participated in it. After much dodging by you, I posted the following:

You've said what you would change. I've got that. I'm asking you how you would change it. Unless you tell us what is wrong with the current FAQ and why, it's very hard for anyone to suggest specific changes (something you should be doing yourself).

I'm asking you what sepcific changes you would make to what is currently written. Please answer properly.

Your response was:

I don't think I'm in a position to write your FAQ, being a believer of the whole round earth theory and stuff you know?

Now, do you have anything more to add, or are you just going to keep telling us that the FAQ is bad, without telling us why?

The thread posted got suggestions on how to improve. Please read it.

Flat Earth General / Re: Conspiracy

It's not an opinion.

Prove it then.

Raist gave the impression of not knowing the euphemism r.i.p. (r.i.p. is a euphimism for death), hence my comment.
People generally use the term "deceased."

It's clear that he knew very well what R.I.P. stands for. Otherwise, he couldn't have made that comment.

Perhaps you should stfu and get back to the topic.

Obviously you have no idea what these links say, or you wouldn't provide them as apparent proof or evidence.

I suggest a lock since this is just going to turn into a flamewar that is not beneficial to RE'ers or FE'ers.

Raver called it.
Obviously you dont either.

17
I hate to sound like a noob here, but I think this entire thread is kind of silly.  Are we just pointing out examples of 2D games now?

EG is pretending that he thinks every game with a flat horizon, or just 2d is a proof that the developers intended it to represent a flat earth video game.

EA should be removed as I have yet to see any FE'ers who seriously believe in it.

And again it falls back to my point that your FAQ is outdated.

And what are these improvements you have suggested?

Except that it's not plausible in any way if you read his ideas in the post.

According to you. Out of interest, is there anything in the FAQ that you do consider plausible?

Yes.

22
I wasn't confused by !=, I was merely contradciting him. If I stand in panama west corresponds to left on the map he presented.

No, it doesn't. West is defined relative to North.

The trick in that projection is that the parallel wraps around the "top" or "bottom" of the map. So by following around the parallel and ignoring the position of the Sun, the distance traveled, temperatures encountered, and a few other facts, by going west you end up on the far side of the Earth again. One parallel, the Equator, doesn't seems to be able to do that. So he can't explain how the Sun on the Equinoxes gets back for the 'next day'. I think we can all agree that this model of FE is one of the worst, being unable to explain the motion of the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars, the confinement of the atmosphere, and the reason we can't find the edge (This model has no ice wall.).

Luckily I don't have to worry about what parallel's can or can't do, because they are imaginary lines. Additionally, I would be grateful if you could explain why this model is worse than the standard model just because it does not invent an ice wall in order to provide a reason for these things. This model is perfectly compatible with an ice wall, I simply think it ridiculous to presume one exists when there is no evidence.

Which means we are back at sqaure one: There is no map of a FE with two poles.

What? Even if you have issues with that map, I don't see how you can claim it doesn't exist.

That map makes no sense. During the equinox, the sun is only overhead at the equator, meaning that it must move in a circle.
You should note the laughable discontinuity too. The lit area instantaneously jumps from the 'left' side to the 'right' side as the Sun move across from right to left and then suddenly back to the right side. Just how easy it would be to do an experiment to verify this. It's a shame that FEers continue to speculate rather than experiment.

Actually, what we should probably laugh at is your inability to read:

I can give you an image which shows the rough distribution of light in such a model (though you should ignore the Sun's movements as depicted in the following image):

www.rif.org

Tom please STFU and look at the model we are using in this thread. It is getting really annoying when you burst in with ludicrous claims like that if it isn't even on topic. The model provided can not have the same mechanism.

Actually, Tom is 100% correct, and the point he is making is 100% relevant. You guys simply do not seem to understand that west is defined relative to north. The 'equator' is an imaginary line that does not exist; FET does not need to accomodate a fiction which assumes a RE.

You're making it blatantly obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Joust is another fine example of a Flat Earth Video game. Note how in the lava, there is absolutely zero opposite side. This agrees with my old school theory that the Flat Earth works similar to a flat toroid in which the sides are attached while still existing on a 2d plane.

Not far enough away to show curvature.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: I have questions (?)

One would think that a FAQ which does not give answers based on the current and common belief of FE'ers would need change.

Apparently it's fine that it answers questions, regardless of how correct or dumb the answer is.

Please keep in mind that the average FE'er believes the conspiracy consists of around 40 people or less plus the Ice Wall guards.

Please note that Catchpa is a troll and what he says here is patently false.

In that case the FAQ needs to be changed on this particular subject, as it's currently misinforming newcomers that this is the general belief of FE'ers.
