Flat Earth General / Re: How the Government cover-up is impossible
« on: March 19, 2019, 07:26:07 PM »
Think about it... U.S. congress can't agree on anything anymore. The Middle East is still is huge conflict, with hardly any discernible governments to speak of. Many African countries have either shadow governments, or no governments at all. Many of the ones that are there are highly militaristic, and not welcoming to foreign relations. There are also an innumerable amount of countries that hate each other, often times for really no reason.

So with all this in mind, how can we expect ALL of the world governments to collude on this one thing, without any real benefits from it? This would require them to all have the same facts, same examples, same experiment results, same everything. Just from a logistical standpoint, this would be pretty much impossible. What if somebody stepped out of line and spoke up about the earth being flat? That would bring the whole thing crashing down, especially in today's world where information spreads so quickly and easily. If there were any scientists who really believed in a flat earth, who had concrete evidence supporting their claim, they would have already spoken out.

If the world was indeed flat, why wouldn't some rogue government just blow the top on everything and ruin the whole deal? Say for instance, North Korea decided to reveal with solid backing evidence that the world was flat. The credibility of every other nation would be ruined. How would the U.S. citizens feel about their government if it was suddenly revealed that their whole life was a lie? Thankfully, we will never know, because no such evidence exists.

Honestly, this is the biggest gap in logic (Other than the blatant disregard of physical evidence) that plagues the Flat-earth society.

It is likely that there is no flat Earth conspiracy. There is, more than likely, a space travel conspiracy.

I'm re-reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

I love that book.

It's such a tragic, darkly beautiful novel. Through all the darkness is a bit of light.

Elon Musk says there is a huge probability we are living in a computer simulation. He has the facts to prove it. What do you guys think of that?

He has no such facts, and I think there is a probability we are living in a computer simulation. I wouldn't call it a huge, or even likely, probability.

I bet when he played the 'Lloyd' on dumb&dumber, he wasn't acting. Just being his regular Canadian self

Dumb and Dumber Two is the only movie I have ever walked out on.

That movie was the most atrocious dumpster fire I've ever had the misfortune of encountering.

Flat Earth General / Re: Distance between Earth and Mars
« on: March 18, 2019, 07:35:55 PM »
According to NASA, the distance between Mars and Earth on average is 140 million miles (225 million kilometers).
Is this information legitimate?

By a flat Earth model, standardly the Mono-Pole Model, no.

The Wiki page about distance to the Sun should help inform you.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Re: Your thoughts on Elon musk?
« on: March 18, 2019, 07:34:00 AM »
My main exposure to Elon Musk was on The Joe Rogan Experience.

He's interesting, to say in the least. And, it seems to me, he has a hard time expressing himself. He works hard; I don't know how smartly he works hard.

I have my doubts about the validity of any space program. Naturally, I have my doubts about Elon Musk.

It sure is a meme. But also all the white supremacists LOVE Pewdiepie. He's doing nothing to push them away from his fanbase and it kinda seems like he is actively trying to attract them.

Nothing I've noticed seems to support this claim.

Flat Earth General / Re: McCarthyism vs Global Earth Denialism
« on: March 17, 2019, 07:28:32 PM »
Don't Global Earth Deniers accuse everyone from the federal level to Hollywood of knowing about how the earth is not round?

No.

I don't know if they would need to know about the conspiracy or not. But there is still a problem. All of a pilots longer haul navigation is based upon great circles with associated speed/distance/fuel consumption. So either their calculations or their system's calculations would need to be falsifying a globe earth in one way or another.

An interesting video about how jet streams (which make little sense on a globe) impact plane travel -- particularly on a flat Earth.

Aren't like all the pilots in the world part of the conspiracy? And that includes all the generals of every army branch because they need to know the exact distance between each point.

No, because -- again -- they likely don't need to know.

Apparently he said "subscribe to Pewds" just before the shooting.

Felix Kjellberg has already released a statement. That dude just can't escape controversy.

Kevin Roose, a columnist for The New York Times, is spewing nonsense. 'Subscribe to PewDiePie' is a meme; it wasn't a way for the shooter "to inflame political tensions and to serve as a knowing nod to those who might be watching the gunman’s actions with approval."

Finger Eleven - Lost My Way

My question, how far back does the belief in a flat earth go.  When did people start trying to hide the truth that the earth was flat?   Not only that, but what was the original motivation for people to 'prove' the earth was round and hide the 'fact' that the earth is flat?
I ask this because I am curious if this whole flat earth movement is a recent thing or if its been around a long time.

The Universal Zetetic Society was followed by the Flat Earth Society.

It is likely that no one is hiding the shape of the Earth; NASA is, more likely, committing a space travel conspiracy.

I've heard there is a political manifesto floating around online from one of the shooters.

Flat Earth General / Re: Leak information
« on: March 15, 2019, 09:21:38 AM »
Hi, I'm curious about the flat earth and I'm considering believing in you, but there are 72 space agencies with average 12.000 employees and 52 governments that know the truth, i can't believe that information never leaked many, many times if all those people know the truth. So my question is: do you guys believe that? Or just few members of these agencies and governments know the truth?

It's likely that NASA doesn't know the Earth is flat.

As well, sheer numbers mean little. It is likely that the guy in a back room performing mathematical calculations for a "rocket launch" would never know.

I watch Rooster Teeth quite a bit.

They have several channels (Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, Cow Chop, etc.) and produce shows such as gen:LOCK.

To anyone that believes the FE model, what convinced you it is correct?

Define "FE model:" do you mean the standardly accepted Mono-Pole Model? I'm presuming you just mean that we accept the Earth as being flat instead of round?

Honestly, a good deal of it is trusting my gut. I was raised religiously, trusted my gut on that one, and... I don't believe in any sort of higher powers, supernatural spooks or other ghosties. I was raised to believe that the Earth is round like any other kid, trusted my gut on that one, and... there are some very, very interesting things, odd discrepancies and information that really makes you think, to consider.

It makes sense to me.

Flat Earth General / Re: proof of the location ISS
« on: March 10, 2019, 09:37:03 AM »
I could spare you the trouble of all this by walking outside at night, looking for the ISS overhead, and, when I do see it, acknowledge how neat that is and go back inside.

Regarding how the ISS is only visible to "the people who would be on that side of RE," I don't understand how incredible you think the human eye is. The ISS is, supposedly, approximately the size of a football field. The average Boeing 747 is only a hundred feet shorter than the ISS. Boeing 747s fly at a crusing altitude of approximately seven miles.

Let's say you're on one side of the disc, and I'm on the other side. Would you be able to see a Boeing 747, which is only 2/3 the size of the ISS, flying on my side at a mere cruising altitude of seven miles? No. Now, let's tack just a hundred feet onto that Boeing 747 and scoot it up by 243 miles, according to you. Would you be able to see it on my side? No.

What exactly are you trying to prove here?
