FET says,"Have you ever felt a variation in the earth's gravitational pull? I didn't think so."

I'm sure we can all agree we've found ourselves one of those many holes in FET. Of course they'll say these tests of different gravitational pull were made by the government and can't be trusted. Also, photoshop hax. Photoshop haxxing is a staple supporting everything in the conspiracy.

Ok great, got a picture of this scenario? If the tower is ON the horizon, it means it's within the area at which atmolayeric distortion and perspective become impediments to visual perception. I'd like to take a look and make sure this isn't the case, because otherwise that claim proves nothing.

I wonder if they'll scream 'photoshop hax' even though this is a common sight. Probably. :P

Churches do not brainwash children. Ignorant parents do this.

Churches give people the chance. Where did you get the assumption they did anything more?
Where did you get the assumption that I'm talking about churches?

From the same general place I assumed you weren't talking about God coming down with his Brainwasher5000.
Seriously, if you weren't talking about Churches, what were you talking about?

You're a moron. You are clogging the front page of this board with every damn 3-month year old topic that strikes your fancy.

To say I'm stalking you is like saying a streaker is getting spyed on. Stop clogging the front page with whatever rocks your boat.

You are going to get banned.

Of course the chances of someone being a Christian are higher if someone is offered the chance.

Chances of someone buying tissue at Wal-Mart are astronomically higher if they sell tissues at Wal-Mart. Get my drift?

Yes. Of course it makes a sound. I will prove this by have a tape recorder in the woods while no one is around and put some det cord around the tree so it will fall at a specific time.
Sound: a vibration through a medium.

The very first reply was right. How did this thread get to seven pages?!

A sound is a vibration. Trying to say a vibration does not occur just because someone is not there is ridiculous.

As I recall Toth states his reasons from the Bible. It's completely relevant.

I've already gone over how and why someone cannot be a Christian unless they believe the entire Bible. You say being 'open-minded'. What this actually is, is 'muddying the spring' which I have already gone over thoroughly.
---
Since a few select individuals don't seem to bother reading what has been previously said, I'll just go over the important points.

=====
-In Genesis, it is said Man was made from Base Elements
-In The Theory of Evolution, it is said Man evolved from lesser apes.
=Conflict=

These cannot mix. If you do not believe in Genesis, then you cannot trust whatever else the Bible says to be true. This is doubt.
Therefore, if you believe in Evolution, you cannot truly believe in the Bible.

Therfore, if you cannot believe the Bible, you cannot be a Christian.
=====

I really do not see any argument here. Unless Evolution is wrong in the origin of man, then the two cannot mix. That's simply fact.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Acceleration due to dark matter?
« on: May 27, 2009, 01:56:40 PM »
FET gravity is caused by the earth accelerating at 9.8m/s2. The fact that gravity differs at different heights in FET is due to dark matter leaking through the earth because of the thickness or some such rubbish. I've yet to see how or why dark matter affect's the acceleration of the earth, or why these thinner sections wouldn't slowly detach themselves as they are moving a different speed than the rest of the earth.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Hate Speech Against Religion

No, it never even encompassed mine. You have a very naive, some would say retarded view of religion, the Christian faith in particular. Either you're unbelievably ignorant of the hate between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland, both sides in favour of some kind of ethnic cleansing, or you're just ignoring it. Their religious code tells them to follow the religious leaders utterly and without question (the pope, the bishop etc.) and the leaders tell them to slaughter those of other faith, so the ones that really do follow utterly and without question will do so. They would follow utterly and without question, not because they are predisposed to violence (nobody is) but because they were brought up to believe that the faith in their codes and leaders is the ultimate virtue and that they are more virtuous for doing so.

I'm afraid I didn't see this till now. And I am almost saddened I did. Yet again, you personally attack me with my alleged views of Christianity. I will try to ignore these attacks and respond in a reasonable manner.

In response, I would like to say that by Religious Code, I meant their Bible. You say their religious code tells them to kill each other. Unless they have changed their Bibles, which I seriously doubt, their violence is caused by a bigshot telling his followers to kill the infidel. These ridiculous orders may have been derived from the Old Testament Jewish Law (which was overridden in many aspects by Christian Law, for example, views on violence).
And you assume people are not predisposed to violence. I would then ask how you explain the existence of teenage gangs. I'm afraid I don't see any religious leader telling them to kill each other, yet they keep on doing it.

@J.Crotch

I find it really sad you assume all christians are indoctrinated by others. The 'christian upbringing' gives people the chance of becoming chrsitian early in life, but does not wholly affect their choice. Undoubtedly people who have been brought up by abusive, alcoholic parents have become christian because they read a Bible later in life. -edit- For an example, I recently remembered a member of my Church by the name of Chelsea; she was brought up by an atheist family and she became promiscuous and alcoholic before she found Christianity.

I didn't ever lose my faith because I never had any until I was 13. I didn't even listen to the preacher when I was that young. When I was a stupid kid I just spent church hours improving my drawing skill. Like you, you say you were 'disillusioned'. Really, you just chose to not believe it in the first place. Children that young cannot even comprehend faith.

Woah, hold the boat guys. RingwallTheTeacher, please don't derail this thread by attacking the moderators. If you have a concern with Raist's argumentative style, and would like to let off some vitriolic steam, please take it to Angry Ranting.

I really can't understand the length you short-sightedness reaches. I never said the Bible stated in any other chapter that you should not change the words contained therein. I did say that it was common sense not to change them.

Then why bring revelation into this?

I had remembered a verse that said not to change the words of this book. And even though this verse does not specifically encompass the rest of the Bible, it's common sense not to. As I said before.

---

@Raist
You said in another thread that your point about the verse pertaining to Revelation was valid. It wasn't, because it was already agreed upon that the verse was about Revelation. It was beyond obvious we had to come a conclusion on this. Your post was entirely pointless, and nor more than another petty personal attack.

The rest of your post was unintelligible.

Or possibly you couldn't formulate a worthy rebuttal?

That is exactly what I'm saying.  Your post was unintelligible, therefore I could not formulate a worthy rebuttal.  Did you think you made a deft strike there?  Also, your reply is ripe with irony.  You dodge the main points of my post then attack my intelligence by implying that I cannot effectively reply.

I thought it was clear enough my reply to General Douchebag encompassed your post as well.

----

And as for J. Crotch; as I said various times before, I chose to be a christian. If I wanted to be an atheist I would be one. Your vicious attacks attempting to convince me my life would be better as an atheist are all baseless because I chose to become a christian, and when I did, the burden of my sin was lifted. How could things possibly be better as a backslider when I know for a fact things have become better for me as a Christian.

I'm tired of you implying religion is nigh slavery. Slaves don't choose to be slaves. I chose to be Christian. Get off your high-horse and open your eyes.

24
I cannot reccollect one insult I did not have evidence to support. Short-sighted, bigot, fool; unlike you I didn't throw around big words because I was angry. I pointed out flaws which impaired your judgement.

And really, I'm over one-hundred percent sure it says in the Bible not to believe what a fool says as truth. Would you assume it was true if someone eating their own toenails for breakfast had any idea what was true or not?

As I remember,
"That obviously only refers to revelation. Congrats on being a complete fucktard. I suggest you abort your children and serve them as food, it is the greatest benefit to society you will ever achieve.

P.S. fuck you"

It was already fully understood the phrase was referring to revelation. Your point was invalid, and the rest of your post proves mine.

As for General Douchebag, you again assume that violent extremists wouldn't exist without the religion. I find it most amusing that your main example for why religion breeds vices is the perfect example of why extremists are not formed by their religion.

Look at it this way- Roman Catholics and Protestants are both Christian groups. If these extremists really followed their religious code, they would intermarry/all get along. The fact is, these extremists are going against their religious code, and attack those who are different, not because their religion has told them to, but because they are violent people already.

I would appreciate it if the majority of atheists would pull their mind out of the toilet and get back to the discussion instead of swerving off in pointless tangents.

Revelation 22:18
18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God weill add to him the plagues described in this book.19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

It doesn't say Bible; I just said Bible to make my meaning more understandable.

(If your hat is made of chocolate, I'll have one too)

That obviously only refers to revelation. Congrats on being a complete fucktard. I suggest you abort your children and serve them as food, it is the greatest benefit to society you will ever achieve.

P.S. fuck you
However, just because it is not stated the other books shouldn't be changed doesn't mean it would be fine to do so. You wouldn't jump off the Humber Bridge because someone told you to specifcally not jump off the Golden Gate Bridge.

Congrats on the language. Maybe you should get your mind out of the toilet and back into your skull so you can make valid points instead of throwing a hissy-fit.

PS: I'll actually pass; if you haven't yet realized I'm straight.

I think I've finally figured out why some atheists are such bigots.

Misery loves company. Some form of religion hurt them in the past, and now instead of growing a pair they want to exact revenge for being hurt when they were a child. Such as in J.C.'s case. He was forced to learn a religion from adoptive parents. Instead of choosing to believe in a religion himself, it was forced down his throat. And now it's his sole mission in life to hurt religion because it hurt him.

I really don't think anything could be more childish.

---

For less extreme cases, I believe it is was Toth previously stated, " Ignorance breeds contempt. "

Some have said that they've studied a religion and still believe it's rubbish. That really saddens me. You have clearly read the words, but never have understood their meaning. You previously don't understand the religion, and enter into the learning with irrational mind. It does not matter what you see; you will only focus on the parts that appear to cast the religion in the worst possible light.

I really pity bigot atheists that think it's their sole mission in life to destroy religion. You should really take a closer, non-derogatory (sp?) look at religion before passing any judgement.

---

Someone previously stated (yet again) that they think religion causes all the world's problems. They've also said that there would be no extremists without the religion. This is a really foolish assumption. Religion is some specific case individual's excuse for violence/power/taxing. To actually assume these people would up-and-decide not to be corrupt just because one specific excuse doesn't exist is totally ridiculous.
