No, it never even encompassed mine. You have a very naive, some would say retarded view of religion, the Christian faith in particular. Either you're unbelievably ignorant of the hate between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland, both sides in favour of some kind of ethnic cleansing, or you're just ignoring it. Their religious code tells them to follow the religious leaders utterly and without question (the pope, the bishop etc.) and the leaders tell them to slaughter those of other faith, so the ones that really do follow utterly and without question will do so. They would follow utterly and without question, not because they are predisposed to violence (nobody is) but because they were brought up to believe that the faith in their codes and leaders is the ultimate virtue and that they are more virtuous for doing so.
I'm afraid I didn't see this till now. And I am almost saddened I did. Yet again, you personally attack me with my alleged views of Christianity. I will try to ignore these attacks and respond in a reasonable manner.
In response, I would like to say that by Religious Code, I meant their Bible. You say their religious code tells them to kill each other. Unless they have changed their Bibles, which I seriously doubt, their violence is caused by a bigshot telling his followers to kill the infidel. These ridiculous orders may have been derived from the Old Testament Jewish Law (which was overridden in many aspects by Christian Law, for example, views on
violence).
And you assume people are not predisposed to violence. I would then ask how you explain the existence of teenage gangs. I'm afraid I don't see any religious leader telling them to kill each other, yet they keep on doing it.

I find it really sad you assume all christians are indoctrinated by others. The 'christian upbringing' gives people the chance of becoming chrsitian early in life, but does not wholly affect their choice. Undoubtedly people who have been brought up by abusive, alcoholic parents have become christian because they read a Bible later in life. -edit- For an example, I recently remembered a member of my Church by the name of Chelsea; she was brought up by an atheist family and she became promiscuous and alcoholic before she found Christianity.
