The space Conspiracy was premeditated as early as the late 1800s (as Rowbotham's popularity threatened to thwart the RE myth). Evidence suggests that Scott of the Antarctica was murdered by the Conspiracy in the 1900s before he could tell the truth about the Ice Wall.
Let's not forget that Tom has yet to explain how the Sun is a spotlight. So far, I've only seen the argument that it's a spotlight because that's the only way it would work.
From Chapter 8 of Earth Not a Globe:The question, "how is it that the earth is not at all times illuminated all over its surface, seeing that the sun is always several hundred miles above it?" may be answered as follows:--
First, if no atmosphere existed, no doubt the light of the sun would diffuse over the whole earth at once, and alternations of light and darkness could not exist.
Secondly, as the earth is covered with an atmosphere of many miles in depth, the density of which gradually increases downwards to the surface, all the rays of light except those which are vertical, as they enter the upper stratum of air are arrested in their course of diffusion, and by refraction bent downwards towards the earth; as this takes place in all directions round the sun--equally where density and other conditions are equal, and vice versā--the effect is a comparatively distinct disc of sun-light.
In the Cook's Strait Almanac, it is said:
"At Wellington, New Zealand, December 21st, sun rises 4 h. 31 m., and sets at 7 h. 29 m., the day being 14 hours 58 minutes. "
I don't see how ascending into the air and observing an apparently rounded horizon would prove a Round Earth. Remember, the horizon of a Flat Earth would also appear rounded; elliptical. When we move outside of the atmosphere of the Flat Earth, to the foot of space, we are looking down at a circle.The space programs present too much evidence for FEer to ignore. The images show that Australia is not elongated as their model predicts. The curvature of the Earth seen in the photographs doesn't align with their model. The position of the Moon and the Sun, the Sun's illumination, and the orbits of the spacecrafts and satellites all demonstrate that the Earth is round.Quote
well, i guess there really is no way to convince FEer's of a round earth. a flat earth that appears round in space? beats me. if this was true than why wouldnt they just go ahead with space programs?
Really, "the Earth is round in the photographs because the Earth is cylinder" fails miserably with just a casual inspection. Continents, over the curvature of the Earth, the horizon, aren't visible, for example. The terminator often doesn't match FE predictions. It's just all lots of little explanations, picture by picture, failing to explain the next bit of evidence until it's in hand.
Tom ruined our discussion. I'm very disappointed.
Look at any High School physics book to see that heat and pressure have a correlation to each other.
Everything NASA has done constitutes as proof that support those initial observations and experiments of Eratosthenes, Posidonius, and Ptolemy.
We have numerous observations that suggest the shape of the Earth that long precede this.
Obviously it does not move itself, God must do it.
It doesn't 'jump' even according to the base FET. It follows a spiraling course which takes it north and south over the course of a year. The picture is misleading.

I say that the conspiracy theory requires an enormous amount of effort and resources, and lies beyond credibility.

In the Southern Hemisphere there are both eastward and westward jet streams. By necessity, in relation to the polar front and subtropical jets, easterly jet streams in the Southern Hemisphere propagate at rates even faster than the westward ones. The winds in a jet stream regularly reaches speeds of over 400 km/h. Airliners use these jet streams to faster reach a destination.
This variable contributes significantly to the travel time between Argentina and New Zealand, for example. While an airplane may have a rated cruise speed it can provide under its own power, the extreme winds of the jet stream adds enormously to the actual velocity of the plane over the surface of the Earth.
For every moment the plane stays in the jet stream it is being accelerated until it matches the surrounding velocity and momentum of the air around it. From there the plane can use the limits of its power to travel faster than the jet stream. Thus, seven hours of travel time between Argentina and New Zealand becomes extremely possible.
In general, it has been found that winds are strongest just under the tropopause. If two air masses of different temperatures meet, the resulting pressure difference (which causes winds in FET) is highest along the interface.
These facts are a consequence of the thermal wind relation. The balance of forces on an atmospheric parcel in the vertical direction is primarily between the pressure gradient and the force of gravitation by acceleration is a balance referred to as hydrostatic. In the horizontal, the dominant balance outside of the tropics is between the Coriolis effect and the pressure gradient is a balance referred to as geostrophic.
Given both hydrostatic and geostrophic balance, the Flat Earth Society derives the thermal wind relation: the vertical derivative of the horizontal wind is proportional to the horizontal temperature gradient. The sense of the relation is such that temperatures decreasing polewards implies that winds develop a larger eastward component as one moves upwards. Therefore, the strong eastward moving jet streams are in part a simple consequence of the fact that the equator is warmer than the poles.
