Flat Earth Q&A / Did I get this right?
« on: March 12, 2007, 02:45:00 AM »
Correct me if I'm wrong regarding any of these points about the FE model:
-the atmosphere is kept on earth by the 150 foot ice wall. therefore, the atmosphere is 150 feet high.
-the "the hull of a ship disappears before the mast does" phenomenon is caused by the bending of light.
-the sun and moon have "gravity", but the earth does not.
-the earth is the only thing in space without gravity.
-earth is not a planet (since it does not orbit anything).

This thread is just for clarification regarding some things not found in the faq. I thank you for your time.

The Lounge / Pixel Artists?
« on: February 23, 2007, 12:01:11 AM »
Any Pixel Artists here?
Anyone who's decent with pixelart?

Aight, let's all talk about beef jerky.

On a serious note, come post your amazing works here.
I will mine later.

I and my fellow Pottertards fans await our invitation to your well-known school of magic.

I am able to make goats squeal lustfully at my merestr whim, my two sisters can make other people invisible, and my friend Dudung can talk to God when he(Timmy, not God) has constipation.

What say you?

My mother recieved her letter days ago, I know this to be a fact, and therefore false.

Discuss.

Flat Earth Q&A / A question
« on: February 22, 2007, 04:53:35 PM »
I thought this needed its own topic, instead of bumping old ones, which seems to result in nothing but many bumps. ::)

Anyway, here is the question:

Q: How does the FE model keep its atmosphere?

The RE model has gravity to thank for that, but what the about FE model?

Quote
Well, you have the atmosphere at the top stretching like saran wrap over the top of the Earth (reaching from the top of the ice wall in a dome-like shape most likely), and then the air is held in by the ice wall and the atmosphere.

~D-Draw
The air makes up the atmosphere, that's what the atmosphere is.

There, it has a proper title (I can't believe you'd move it based on a title, btw), please don't move it this time.

Flat Earth Q&A / When a big pizza pie hits you straight in the eye,
« on: February 21, 2007, 08:32:09 PM »
When you look at the moon at times, there is a shadow, yes?
And you claim it is made by a shadow object. Well and good.

But how come none of us have ever seen the shadow of the earth on the moon?

How come I have never, upon looking at the moon, seen a shadow blocking it out like so:

, which would suggest a flat earth?

Flat Earth Q&A / If there really was an Ice Wall
« on: February 21, 2007, 04:10:23 PM »
Wouldn't it have been a tourist spot by now?

I mean, I can see how the government would make more money out of the tourism they would get then, as opposed to a conspiracy (I still don't understand how money is involved there, btw).

Aye or nay?

Flat Earth Q&A / Hey. Guys.
« on: February 20, 2007, 03:35:59 PM »
You know that topic that MooBs always brings up?

Remember how annoyed you get that he has to repeat it at EVERY SINGLE OPPORTUNITY he gets?

I have a good idea for you guys; answer it.

If you answer it, and he findas that your answer is valid and supports your theory, he just MIGHT - might - stop posting it, yes?

Flat Earth Q&A / Another question, good sirs
« on: February 18, 2007, 04:56:04 PM »
If indeed the earth is flat, then those living in the outer edges, would experience a pull towards the center, since you people claim that compasses actually point to the earth's center (but then, you also say that gravity does not exist. I am equally confounded by this, but that is another matter).

This, then, is good news, because it means that if I am nearer at the edge of the earth, and I want to get to the center, I would just hop a bit, and I would have moved a considerable amount towards the center. Compared to riding airplanes or buses, this is relatively cheaper.

Ah, but I realize that I would drown at the seas...

But wait, WOULD I drown, or would I still drift towards the center, gravity having its origin therein? This then says that people at the center of the earth have a very hard time walking, for the force of earth's gravity (or any force of gravity, if you believe it exists) is stronger when the distance between the center of gravity and the object is shorter.

what country did you say was at the center of the earth? I want to visit it and see if it is harder to ride a horse there.

again, I thank you good sirs for enlightening me.

I have found certain books in our Library which have the author discussing that the earth was made ten seconds ago, with everything in it now.

They say that all memories, all planets, all people, were already created here. So, that memory of your wherein you vomitted while delivering a speech did not really happen!

Rejoice!

Flat Earth Q&A / A question, good sirs
« on: February 18, 2007, 03:28:28 PM »
It seems my first attempt at replying to a gentleman's inquiries resulted instead in a topic. I have no excuse for this, and hope that the follies of new members be forgiven.

I have but one question, after reading your informative FAQ.

"The Earth is accelerating upwards at 1g (9.8m/s-2) along with every star, sun and moon in the universe. This produces the same effect as gravity. "

This was written as an explanation for gravity. While it seems logical at first, it would make it seem that either:

A) The whole universe is moving
B) The whole universe is expanding vertically at a rate of 9.8 meters per second, and a large portion of the universe is empty, due to all of the planets and stars moving upwards.

Now, if you pick A, then I would assume that you were a madman who believed in ridiculous things, since even if the universe moved a hundred miles per minute, then we would not feel a thing. This is comparable to a man riding in a moving train, and tossing a crumpled piece of paper upwards; it would still land on his feet (or, indeed, on his hand, if he had good reflexes).

On the other hand, if you pick B, then at a rate of 9.8 meters per second, and at the universe's age estimated at 11.2 billion (at least. Some experts say 20 billion), the universe would have expanded by 9.8 m/s x 31, 557,600 s/year x 11 billion years,  or 3,401,909,280,000,000 kilometers, which is approximately 11 trillion light years. Do all Flat Earthers then believe that the Universe has even more empty space than it had before, and that man's realization that we are but points in a vast space should be revised into "we are but poits upon vast space which is a point upon a vast space..." and so on?

I hope you could provide clarification with regards to this matter.

I thank you all in advance.

Flat Earth Q&A / Shadow Object
« on: February 18, 2007, 03:11:54 PM »
I believe this "Shadow Object" is a dark shadow that surrounds the earth, that has majicks to transport you to the opposite edge, my good sir.

If anyone more informed than me could please correct?
