On that day, where ice-pick pierced the craggy top,
and liars, still daring to pinch the last fraying inch
of wool to pull and blind, fell to truth's spear.

Droning planes, like lazy hornets, fly straight
yet yearn for us to learn of their ever present turn
and sharp hulls slice not a ball, but a dice.

Heaven's stare rather here, than there, shine
stars; celestial flecks on light-less canvas.

Rewriting history. The moon; still night's mystery
untrodden or disturbed by NASA's boot, hangs on
a mobile, dances with Sol.

Space-stations plummet under the burden of truth
and gravity releases it's pull.

And from this lofty perch, from the wall's sheer face
with an unknown wind to offer an embrace
I turn to step into infinity, or fall to limitless space.

Flat Earth General / Is Google a member?
« on: April 22, 2013, 05:44:21 AM »
Today, the 22nd April, marks international 'Earth Day.' I couldn't help but notice the Google logo is a rather fun interpretation of a flat Earth. Perhaps the artist is a member that lurks among us?

Just a little observation on this fine Monday afternoon.

Flat Earth General / Query Regarding Rocket Launches and Conspiracy.
« on: June 23, 2012, 03:37:39 AM »
Good day!

I am currently doing a little research into the moon hoax conspiracy, and by extension the Flat Earth belief in an international conspiracy regarding the shape of Earth as the two are inextricably linked. Whilst I have seen a whole host of information related to fake evidence from the moon itself taken by the astronauts, a lot of it from the Conspiracy section on the Flat Earth wiki, I have yet to find an explanation for something a little closer to home.

The generally regarded stance by those that believe the Apollo missions were a hoax, (but not that the Earth is planar) is the theory that the rockets, once launched, never actually went to the moon, but rather orbited the Earth for the duration of the mission before splashing down in the ocean to wide media coverage and some fancy astronaut acting.

Now proponents of the Flat Earth theory obviously believe something else - as orbiting the planet is not a possibility. I am wondering what the Flat Earth theorists stance is on the launches. Quite simply, where did they go for eight days?

Before answering, please be aware that this is not an argument and I am not trying to prove or disprove anything. I simply seek the information and potentially engage in a civil discussion about the rocket launches and space missions. If you feel you will be incapable of keeping this thread on track, discussing only the subject matter, then I respectfully ask that you reserve replies for those that want to talk about it without looking for an opportunity to berate, insult or otherwise subtract from the discussion.

As much as the search function is handy on this forum, I spend most of my time trying to sift through meaningless, unrelated drivel. I apologise in advance if this topic has been covered already, if so I was unable to locate it.

All the best,

Pilgrim.

*EDIT* It would appear that this topic belongs in the 'Flat Earth General' section. Could a moderator kindly relocate it. Thank you.

Flat Earth Q&A / Pursuit of Knowledge Addendum: Regarding the Moon
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:42:50 AM »
Hello,

I recently proposed a series of questions to help me understand some of the fundamentals of the Flat Earth Theory. After reading the FAQ and searching the forum, I could not find a satisfactory or conclusive answer and so asked the questions in a single thread located here.

It was advised that a separate topic should be created dealing with each topic. As I observed many differing theories and arguments regarding the moon, it's phases and lunar eclipses, this is where I shall start. The question I originally proposed was:

Regarding the moon, and specifically the phases and occurrences of lunar eclipse. I have seen various theories, specifically regarding the moon either being self luminescent, the presence of an unseen celestial body known as the 'antimoon,' the existence of a 'sub-moon' and also that moon is composed of light producing organisms that are agitated by sunlight. The FAQ seems to differ from what others say. Is this due to there being multiple theories? I would quite like a conclusive explanation, or at least a solid two or three theories and their reasoning, for my compilation.

Would some Flat Earth proponents take  me through the fundamentals of how they explain lunar activity? I appreciate that theories will vary, but I would like to make a note of each with some explanation.

Many thanks for any assistance in my research, and also for your time.

Warm regards and blessings.

Flat Earth Q&A / Pursuit of Knowledge
« on: June 20, 2012, 01:36:06 AM »
Good day,

I am here to find out a little more regarding the Flat Earth Theory. I have read the FAQ, which was concise, informative and helpful in regards to many of the questions I had, however it left a few unanswered questions that a quick use of the 'Search' function did not satisfactorily or conclusively address.

Perhaps a Flat Earth Theorist could facilitate my pursuit of knowledge regarding the FET? I do not wish to challenge any explanation, though I may ask further questions if they present themselves if that is acceptable.  Once I am satisfied that an explanation has been given for all lingering questions regarding FET, I shall be in on my way.

1) The solar and lunar situation is causing me a little confusion. As I understand it, the FET holds that the sun and moon are of equal diameter to one another, at thirty-two miles, and equidistant from the earth's surface at roughly three thousand miles, thus producing a spotlight effect as they revolve overhead. Seasons are variable due to the greater and shorter radius.

According to the calculations and diagrams that I have put together based on the information and diagrams from the FAQ (and my own observations), I can relatively work out how a day / night cycle could work, but I am confused as to how that during a northern hemisphere summer, the sun can observably never set on the North Pole, yet this does not seem possible on the flat earth model, or is inconsistent with where the sun should be elsewhere on Earth. I either lack the intelligence to correctly replicate the model, or am misinterpreting the information that explains this possibility on the flat earth model. Either way, could a clarification be made, preferably with a diagram, though a clear explanation would suffice, that sheds a little illumination on this solar situation?

2) Regarding the moon, and specifically the phases and occurrences of lunar eclipse.

3) A point not addressed in the FAQ, and seemingly in forum topics also, is that of perspective. I believe the observation of a ship 'sinking' over the horizon is commonly used to justify the earth being spherical, and is tested by observing the hull slipping out of view before the mast. Upon reaching a greater elevation, viewing distance is extended and the ship can once more be seen. How does the FET explain this? Is it due to light, perceived distance, optical illusion or something else?

4) Regarding meteorological effects, in this instance hurricanes. On a round Earth, a hurricanes rotation is caused largely by the Coriolis effect of the Earth's rotation. Obviously this is not applicable to a Flat Earth model, and whilst I believe I found a somewhat sketchy explanation in the bowels of this forum as to how rotation could occur in a weather system, it didn't justify why it would or what would 'kick-start' the rotation in the first instance. A little clarification on this would be appreciated.

5) Finally, I understand that the FET holds that 'gravity' is actually caused by the acceleration of the Earth. I assume then that the perceived universe is also accelerating also? The sun, moon (antimoon, sub-moon) stars and planets are all accelerating at the same rate. Out of interest, what is our observable system accelerating through? And are we likely to observe any new celestial bodies as our system passes through this evidently massive space? I  am simply curious as to the make up of the rest of our solar system and universe.

Thank you all for your time and assistance with my studies. Hopefully I can be provided with some clear explanations as to what stance the FET takes on the questions above so that I am aware of the societies beliefs. I look forward to your responses. Blessings to you all, and have a wonderful day.

Gratefully,

Pilgrim.
