Flat Earth General / Why doesn't the FES fund a trip to the South Pole?
« on: December 31, 2010, 12:25:41 PM »
The Flat Earth Society should go to Antarctica themselves.  They should fund a mission to go to Antarctica in the form of either a serious trip or one of those Antarctica cruises.  When they get there they should document the whole thing.  They could show what they see down there and find out for themselves whether the ice wall exists or not.

Flat Earth Q&A / Problems with the topography of a flat Earth
« on: September 07, 2010, 02:24:09 PM »
Consider this image:

Now, although the fractals of the shapes of coastlines are almost impossible to describe with words, any human can clearly tell that as you get closer and closer to the 'edge' of the world,  the shape of the land masses and their coastlines becomes distorted; stretched around the rim like elastic, compared to the rest of the world.

And even if you somehow couldn't recognize that:
Just look at Australia.  Wouldn't the population of Australia eventually realize that for some reason Australia is three times wider than what their maps show?

Wouldn't ships in the southern hemisphere realize their trip came to be several times longer than what it should have been?

I could keep going on and on with examples...
How is this possible?

Flat Earth Q&A / FE and Formulas
« on: September 06, 2010, 02:36:16 PM »
Although apparently the Earth was made with all sorts of crazy rules that make the Earth appear round in every single possible way even though it's flat, at least REers have formulas for everything; every single subject of the physics of a round Earth you could think of.  They all work in real life, even if the Earth is really flat, but built to look round.  My question is: (BEFORE YOU PUT THIS IS Q/A, LET ME TELL YOU THIS QUESTION IS TO SPARK DEBATE, NOT FOR A DIRECT ANSWER)  Where are the formulas for a round Earth?  What are the equations for the paths of bendy light?  The locations of the Sun and the Moon relative to the Earth at any point in time?  Things such as that.  How can you prove them if you have no solid equations to back you up?  Where are your numbers?

Flat Earth Q&A / General relativity question
« on: May 24, 2010, 12:15:15 PM »
According to general relativity, time slows down as you approach the speed of light.  The explanation for the Earth in FET accelerating relies on this.  The Earth is (supposedly) constantly accelerating, but since time slows down, we never get there.

But wouldn't that be to an outside observer?  To us, time is constant, and we are accelerating with the Earth.  Doesn't that mean that to an outside observer, it would take an infinite amount of their time to reach the speed of light, but to someone that is accelerating as well would experience the acceleration at a constant rate, thus reaching the speed of light anyways, while for everything else an infinite amount of time passes, which is impossible?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, (I probably am) but this is how I understand it right now.  I didn't explain this very well...

Suggestions & Concerns / Avatar

I have a possible future avatar:
Except without the scene with the blue guy.  I've already made the gif by photoshopping him out, but what should my personal text be, if I change my avatar at all?

Technical Support / RESOLVED: Broken Images on Different Languages
« on: January 27, 2010, 07:23:54 PM »
At least it's made me memorize which button is which:

Many of the forum images of this type (except for the options image) are broken, at least on my browser.  They weren't a week ago.  Anyone else experiencing this?

The Lounge / All of the times Parsifal has said "Irrelevant."

Inspired by this:  " class="bbc_link" target="_blank">

Your opinions are irrelevant here.

What I believe is irrelevant.

Irrelevant, and possibly false.

This is true, but also irrelevant.

Otherwise it sounds like an irrelevant comment.

This is all very irrelevant. What we - I should say, I - mean to say is, will you go out with me?

I like that last one.  By the way, I didn't even go through a twentieth of his posts.  Everyone, lets add to the list!  Scan all of his posts!   ;D

Flat Earth General / Amateur astronomers?
« on: January 25, 2010, 01:52:10 PM »
Wouldn't the millions of amateur astronomers, if the world was indeed flat, have discovered it by now?  They would have.  Are they all part of the conspiracy too?  Lol...

I'm not even a FE'er, and even I find this insulting.  If I was in a minority that believed the Earth was round I'd be pissed if the first result was a parody of my organization.  Back when I wasn't involved in the forums I believed that that was the real site.  I thought you all were idiots because of that site.  No, not like the soft insult kind of "idiot" we think you are, worse than that.  Completely stupid ignorant retards.  Now I don't want what I just said to turn this thread into a debate, but I'm just saying we should get this changed, and now.  And don't think that just because the real one is the second result makes it fine.  I know from experience that everyone always clicks the first result.  There's got to be a way tot tell Google about this.  I'd like to hear some opinions.  Thanks.

Flat Earth Q&A / 150 ft wall of ice can't hold in an atmosphere
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:24:51 PM »
There is no way a 150 foot ice wall could hold all the air in.  Am I missing something?  Are the rotating stars doing it?  =D (That seems to be the explanation for everything lately.)  The are still molecules flying around 600 km in the exosphere.  The air density follows an exponential curve, so if we had a 150 foot wall holding the air in, the air pressure at sea level would decrease, following a (very steep) exponential curve.  So what IS holding the air in?  Gigantic perfect ellipsoidal space mirrors?  Or is air a conspiracy too, just invented by the government to fool us, when it's so, SO obvious that we're really breathing ether or something?

The Lounge / How do you get badges/awards?

I want some.  *stupid grin*

The Lounge / Parsifal?
« on: December 10, 2009, 04:06:25 AM »
Whenever people talk to Parsifal about his beliefs you get:

"My beliefs are irrelevant in this forum."

He constantly acts like a FE'er, yet next I hear Thermo say he thinks the world is round.

Flat Earth General / Why not just make pictures of the Earth yourselves?
« on: December 09, 2009, 03:41:32 PM »
"PLEASE NOTE: This means that pictures confirming the roundness or flatness of the Earth DO NOT CONSTITUTE VALID PROOF." -Quoted from the FAQ.

This means that any pictures that NASA makes are part of the "Conspiracy".

However, you FE'ers can strap a video camera to a good model rocket!  TFES is not part of NASA!  You can prove the Earth is flat or vice versa.  And if you really think NASA hacks cameras or something, one of you can build one with parts from RadioShack.

Btw, how come when I point my high power laser at the clouds I see a green dot on the clouds, where I point at, and not above it?  This seems to contradict your bendy light theory.

Flat Earth Q&A / Why does a rock fall, according to FET?
« on: December 09, 2009, 02:31:52 PM »
Rocks are part of the Earth.  Even when you pick them up they shouldn't fall to the ground, yet they do.

I wonder what crazy explanations I'll get from this.   ;D

Unicorns with laser eyes?  Giant, non-manmade mirrors?  Light bending upwards for no apparent reason?  Dark energy monsters?
