Flat Earth Q&A / I have been converted.
« on: June 15, 2006, 03:23:24 PM »
I am fairly new here and I have learned much in the past few days. I do appologize for the numerous questions aimed at debunking your theory. But due to the concrete evidence I have encountered here I do believe I have been converted.

Thank you all soooooo much!!!!!
Hallejeulah!!!!! (Is that how you spell that?)

Flat Earth Q&A / Dark matter
« on: June 15, 2006, 02:25:59 PM »
There have been several references to dark matter, or dark energy. It is applied, seemingly, to anything that can't be expained. What exactly is this dark matter or dark energy?

Flat Earth Q&A / The conspiracy debunked
« on: June 14, 2006, 05:08:00 PM »
Here is an interesting thought about the conspiracy. Wouldn't some nation want to be the one on the cutting edge of technology and show the rest of the world taht the earth is flat? They are all in a conspiracy you say? That means that ALL the governments of the world would have to be in agreement. Hell, states in the United States can't even agree on what the speed limit should be let alone getting 6 billion people around the world to agree on a conspiracy. The governments of the world can't even get along at a peace table, that's why there are wars. What in the world makes you think that they would all be ka-hoots on a stupid conspiracy theory that takes untold man hours and financial resources to uphold?

Flat Earth Q&A / Satellites revisted
« on: June 14, 2006, 05:00:08 PM »
This question is based more on radio theory. But radio theory as applied to satellites. Let me introduce you to a phenomenon that is common in radio. It's called doppler shift. If a radio signal is transmitted from a stationary location ie.. a radio tower. It will broadcast a static frequency. In other words the frequency doesn't change. If it is being transmitted from a source that is moving directly into you it will change slightly, this is how radar from your local police car works. If it is being transmitted from a moving object that is moving in an arch around you the frequency changes quite a bit. The lower the frequency the less it changes. The higher the frequency the more noticeable the change is.

So when I am transmitting to a satellite the frequency is different when it appears over the horizon than when it is directly overhead. The change is slow and gradual. Now, someone else, using the same satellite, hundreds or thousands of miles away will use a different frequency than I am using. Thereby proving that the satellite is not only there, but is moving.

There are satellites!

Flat Earth Q&A / length of days

Why do the length of days and nights change with the change of season? And why do seasons change?

Flat Earth Q&A / ??? about satellites
« on: June 13, 2006, 10:41:27 PM »
In the FAQ it states that there are no satellites. That satellite signals come from radio towers?  Is this correct?
I receive satellite signals on a daily basis. For instance, most of the day today I listened to XM Radio and I am currently watching a little DirectTV. I understand how those could be coming from a source other than a satellite. Except that my dish is pointed at no land based tower. And my XM Radio works anywhere. A feat that towers, until recently, could not do. But I will let those slide.

I also use low orbit, non-geosync (sp?) satellites. If their signal is coming from a tower, why is it on for a few minutes and then off 45-55 minutes and then back on? It will do several cycles of that and then will be gone for nearly 12 hours.
And, why, when it's available for me to use, can I physically see it overhead? I can litterally see it with the naked eye and when I use binoculars I can see it as clearly as the pictures presented by NASA. Those satellites, too, seem to travel in an arch through my field of vision.

Also, what are the little silver space craft that I can clearly see in the night sky? They will take the same path predictably every 45-55 minutes depending on which one I am tracking at the time.

Flat Earth Q&A / full moon.
« on: June 13, 2006, 07:02:37 PM »
The moon is full tomorrow 6/14, and nearly full from tonight for the next couple of days. I would encourage you all to get a good pair of optics, such as a good pair of binoculars. And I am not talking about the $10 walmart special kind and look closely at the moon. Better yet, look again when the moon is about half. Observe carfully the edge of light and witness firsthand the curvature of the moon. The harvest moon in the fall is the best time to see the complete shape of the moon. It is only a sliver of light but there is enough light reflected off the earth to see the shadowy part of the moon. You will see that it is, in fact, a sphere, not a spotlight.

Flat Earth Q&A / Question about the ice wall.
« on: June 13, 2006, 06:42:21 PM »
I read the FAQ it states that the circumferance of the earth is 78225. Now I am assuming that the "ice wall" is not too thick perhaps less than 10 miles. But I don't know. That would make the coast line of the ice wall pretty close to the same 78,000 miles long.

Now, I am also assuming that what you are calling the "ice wall" is what the rest of the mislead world would call Antarctica. However, the coast line of Antarctica is only 17,968 km (11,165 miles). How come there is such a vast difference between the two measurements? And if the coastline of Antarctica represents the borders of the world that would mean that there is 391,423,686.5 square miles in the entire world. But according to RE'rs the earth is approx 196.9 million square miles? How are the numbers so far different. And if you used the 78,000 circumference to calculate the area of the earth the numbers would be far far worse?

How can you rectify the large discrepancies?
