Someone locked my "I do not think HaraTaiki should be a mod." That's one of the best things to ever happen on this website. If it's going to be locked, it should at least be stickied as well.

Can I get a reason why my nomination of Saddam was locked, without a single relevant comment from a moderator or admin in the whole thread? I'm trying to make a legitimate suggestion in the Suggestions and Concerns forum, and it was locked without comment or given reason. Can it either be unlocked or a reason given, publicly or privately?

Suggestions & Concerns / I nominate Saddam for moderator.
« on: September 09, 2013, 06:29:02 PM »
I, Benjamin Franklin, long-standing member and dedicated Flat Earth'er, formally nominate Saddam to become a moderator of this fine forum. His long standing history, wisdom, fairness, justice, intelligence, and high character would be a great addition to the moderation team.

Suggestions & Concerns / In Regards to Parsifal
« on: July 06, 2012, 07:58:45 AM »
Parsifal has informed me he has been banned from the website for reasons of "Abuse of S&C". Can a mod please confirm this, inform us at to why it was not placed here, clarify which post the ban message was in reference to, and also defend why Parsifal was banned when far worse offenders were given a warning or less. Thank you.

Suggestions & Concerns / Regarding Thork's posting in S&C
« on: July 04, 2012, 08:11:44 AM »
I believe that Thork's behavior has gotten severely out of hand in the S&C fora. I present the following information to support my case.

The relevant rules of the forum:
Quote
5. Flaming and Harassment
Do not use insulting or denigrating personal attacks against other members. Harassment or bullying of other members is forbidden.
Quote
7. Troublemaking
Do not post or behave in a manner obviously intended to start a fight, get a reaction, or cause problems (e.g. making facetious complaints, adjusting/creating a profile so as to impersonate other members, etc.).
Quote
The Flat Earth Society & Flat Earth Theory boards are all related to The Flat Earth Society and Flat Earth Theory in some way, and are usually focused on serious discussion or debate. As such all of the Forum Rules are enforced strictly in these boards

And the following quotes from Thork in S&C. (I'm sure there are more, but I just did a cursory scan of about four or five threads to find these.)
Quote
Die in a fire, Franklin.

You are as stupid as you are tedious.

Now the OP on the other hand has made dozens of accounts with express purpose of spamming the forum, being a total idiot, evading his rightful ban and generally being anti-social. And yet he's not been banned. So can we lock this piece of crap thread?
Quote
Why do you even listen to Saddam and Dann? Along with Franklin, Blanko and Vongeo they are the most stupid people we have on the site. They contribute thousands of posts with nothing in them. If anyone gets sick of their juvenile and moronic behaviour, they get turned on like this.
Quote
He's autistic. FES is a beacon for people like him. He has absolutely no empathy with the person he debates with. He doesn't care if he's boring. He doesn't care if he repeats himself. He doesn't care if he's rude. Because he's autistic. :-\
I dislike you Franklin; I'm not alone. I haven't the time to post examples of every time you spam one of my threads or make a useless comment. I hope you will be suitably chastised for bringing your spam up here.

Thank you for your time.

The Flat Earth Society should come up with a community press release disavowing any comparison to the current republican candidates. It reflects poorly on the society to be compared to such people. If we wish to be seen as the legitimate society we are, we cannot allow such important men to spread a misconstruction of what we are in the public fora.

When I am at my home, for some reason I always time out when trying to view theflatearthsociety.org. However, ping requests still go through. Any suggestions or reasons for why?

Flat Earth General / Benjamin Franklin is seeking research assistance.
« on: October 25, 2011, 07:28:49 PM »
I am currently working on a theory to address one of the largest flaws in FET. However, due to my limited time I am not capable of working on this theory alone and getting it done adequately and promptly. I need assistance from an individual, or individuals, who are both well versed in modern FET, and willing to help. Anyone with exceptional knowledge on the properties of the atmolayer would be most appreciated.

Please apply in this thread.

It seems a bit silly to lock thread after any mod feels the discussion is over. New, relevant points could still be raised or the mods decision could be discussed further. It just seems like mods are using it as a "Stop asking, I win" option to reduce discourse on a topic. I understand that at times people like PizzaPlanet and Crusty take shit to the extreme and start babbling about silly bullshit, but locking the thread seems a bit drastic.

Arts & Entertainment / The FES Sports Thread
« on: June 10, 2011, 12:27:27 PM »
FES is on the internet.
The internet is only men.
Men like sports.
FES never talks about real sports.

This is the new official thread to talk about good sports (No soccer, and no "LOL YOU MEAN FOOTBALL" comments.)

I'll start with Lebron is getting his shit slammed, and it's good to see Dallas beat Miami.

Suggestions & Concerns / A second look at PizzaPlanet's suggestions.
« on: April 17, 2011, 04:42:45 PM »
No, seriously, this suggestion is legitimate and I think a novel solution. If a mod can give a satisfactory reason as to why it should not be implemented, let alone discussed, than I will shut up.

Free software infringes on my right to be free from smug douchebags, and goes against the free market. I, for one, am morally opposed to this. All who agree with me should sign* this thread as a petition to eliminate free software.

Let us consider the RE model, and please no giggling.

Imagine you are standing on a scale. Through modern machines, we are keeping your body's mass and density constant. Throughout the day, your position relative to the sun should change. Now the sun, as we all know, is a large ball of great mass and, in the RE model, gravitation. At noon, the sun is, more or less, above you. At midnight, it is, more or less, below you. Hence, there is a simple conclusion to be drawn from this. At noon, the sun should exert a certain pull, through magical and sourceless gravitation, on you, pulling you away from the scale. This should cause it to appear as though you have magically lost weight, despite constant mass and density! Midnight should cause the reverse effect.

Now, anyone can verify that the RE model is simply inconsistent with reality.

I just read an article regarding international opinion of the "Tea Party Movement" in the United States. I was wondering what residents not from the United States thought of this new political group.

Can we stop this childish "The moon is dangerous" troll? It looks terrible for the site, and it's not actually angering anyone or being funny.

Please and thank you.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / A stance against the modern woman.
« on: September 02, 2010, 11:01:18 AM »
If Western civilization is to survive, the legal status of women must be changed to that of the Roman model, where girls and women are perpetual minors in the eyes of the Law.

Women have shamelessly abused the rights that they were granted, they are too irresponsible to be entrusted with the right to vote, they have rejected traditional virtues of motherhood and home keeping in order to pursue a Sex and the City type lifestyle.

We have seen that only their bodies mature, their minds do not. They are convinced that in their 40s, they can still act like a college-aged party girl, as seen in the ridiculous cougar phenomenon. As a consequence, Western birthrates have fallen to dangerous levels.

Men should no longer stand by passively, it's time to act.
