Flat Earth General / Visualization of sunset/sunrise
« on: February 18, 2019, 06:26:59 AM »
Why can't any flat earther draw a picture on paper how sunset/sunrise looks like, illuminated and shadow areas when sun is at horizon and below it, so that it is in accordance to real world. Has anyone ever even tried to visualize it?

Flat Earth Q&A / How can rivers flow on flat earth.
« on: September 05, 2016, 12:28:50 PM »

As it was brought up as evidence that rivers such as the Nile would have to flow uphill then I started to wonder how can rivers flow at all in flat earth. In spirit of FE experiments, they like tables quite much, lets take flat kitchen table and make it totally level. Then pour some water on it and observe if it starts flowing in some direction or not. It should not if table is level. So, how can rivers flow if the earth is flat?

Flat Earth General / Ichi's new research

Round Earthers no longer have anywhere to hide. Especially considering the pure amount of data and the fact that FinchTV is downloadable for free to review findings. Not only that, but complete input, style (FASTA), and reference sequence was given. Blast tests are also available free online.

The point of the data is lost among the pure amount of data. Data may be fine but what was the conclusion and what does the data mean?

Arts & Entertainment / Latest Futurama, S06E09

It's worth watching. It has even reference to the shape of the Earth being just a theory. And the debate over the steps of evolution from monkey to human is brilliant.

Flat Earth Q&A / Rowbotham perspective and the Moon size
« on: July 25, 2009, 03:33:00 AM »
I guess it's better that it is in different topic than in topic which is not related to question.

There are some numbers which are mentioned from time to time. Distance of the Moon from the Earth(3000 miles) and the size of the Moon(32 miles). There is also Rowbothams law of perspective - "that the smallest angle under which an object can be seen is upon an average for different sights the 60th part of a degree, or one minute in space; so that when an object is removed from the eye 3000 times it?s own diameter, it will only just be distinguishable." .
So, the Moon would be barely distinguishable at 32*3000=96000 miles. But it's 32 mile in diameter and 3000 miles away. It surely must be much bigger than it seems to us at full moon. I would say that its diameter would reduce for us us 1 mile at every 3000 miles. Why then is full moon so little at the sky and not 31 miles at diameter?

Flat Earth Q&A / NASA is up to another fake mission
« on: July 02, 2009, 12:52:35 AM »

NASA is preparing to fly a rocket booster into the moon, triggering a six-mile-high explosion.

Seems that NASA just doesn't get it, still trying to go to the moon that doesn't exist as round and big earth satellite. I also wonder how they can fool all the scientists who participate in program.

I just thought that there may be this kind of topic here. All we ever get is reference to some hundred or so years old articles or popular science books. I guess we can expect more recent work because there is so many aspects about FE which isn't answered yet. So, if anyone has any scientific works/articles/books which are published within last 20 years to refer then please post. Also, experiments are welcome, except like dropping ball and observing earth accelerating up to it or lying in beach with telescope and surveying other side.

Flat Earth Q&A / The International Year of Astronomy 2009
« on: January 11, 2009, 03:05:11 AM »
This year is "The International Year of Astronomy" so we usual people have more chances to look sky through telescope than usually. And talk with people who actually know about stuff. So, look around in your city and look for meetings/conventions organized within this year. I won't hope for FET'ers conversions to RET but that you FET'ers go and start some debates for your beliefs. It's also your chance to popularize your views because FET has also something to do with astronomy. Or, I must correct myself - FET is alternative view of astronomy. So, go kick some asses and show to the world what are you made of!

Flat Earth Debate / Business idea
« on: August 23, 2008, 01:04:02 PM »
If we really live on flat earth then we can start making money with long distance transport. I did some calculations. Earth radius is 20,000 km, so equator radius is 10,000 km. All this is going to apply only to north side of equator. I'm not very apt in mathematics any more so correct me if I am wrong.
 Equations were taken from http://mathforum.org/dr.math/faq/formulas/faq.circle.html:
theta - central angle
theta = arc/latitude radius (radians)
chord = 2*latitude radius * sin(theta/2)

and I calculated the chord for following latitudes and arcs

arc - 1000 km
latitude radius - 2500 km
chord - 993,4 km
you can make path shorter 6,6km for 1000km

arc - 2500 km
latitude radius - 2500 km
chord - 2397,1 km
you can make path shorter 102,9km for 1000km

arc - 5000 km
latitude radius - 2500 km
chord - 4207,4 km
you can make path shorter 792,6km for 5000km

arc - 2000 km
latitude radius - 5000 km
chord - 1986,7 km
you can make path shorter 13.3km for 2000km

arc - 5000 km
latitude radius - 5000 km
chord - 4794,3
you can make path shorter 205.7km for 5000km

arc - 5000 km
latitude radius - 10000 km (equator)
chord - 4948,1 km
you can make path shorter 51.9km for 5000km

arc - 8000 km
latitude radius - 10000 km (equator)
chord - 7788,4 km
you can make path shorter 2211.6km for 8000km

So, as you can see the path is sometimes significantly shorter than it is now when all transport goes with RE logic. If you can cut your expenses and shorten you 8000 km flight path near equator some 2000 km then you are a Winner! Even near the north pole you can cut some 100 km for 1000 km flight. It's not much but it's something. Just think about it, you can really make money if you travel along your FE shorter path on northern side of equator, just grab the opportunity!
