The Lounge / Netbooks?
« on: February 02, 2009, 01:32:57 PM »
I'm looking at getting a small laptop for travel and just around the house to supplement the desktop I already have.  Those of you that know, know I'm a mac person through and through, but unfortunately I can't afford the Macbook Air so I'm looking at a PC, hell must be freezing over, for the first time in my life.

Current models in the running are:
Acer Aspire One, Can't decide if I will need that much storage space so I am considering the 8gig SSD model. (can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't put a larger model in this)  The other model comes with a 120 gig SATA drive.  Price difference is 299 for the SATA and 279 for the SSD.  One gig of RAM on both units, 8.9" screen, built in webcam, 802.11 b/g, Windows XP Home, and 1.6 Intel Atom processor.

Dell Mini 9  This one only comes with the 8 gig SSD as far as I can see on their website.  This model has the same specs as the Acer, but I can get a 16 gig SSD for an extra 40 dollars and the I have to upgrade to 1 gig of ram for an extra 25.  All told this one comes out costing a pretty penny more at 429 when customized with XP Home.  (I have heard many photographers talk about this computer and how much they love using it with their kit though)  I would pay this, but I wouldn't consider paying more then this in going with something else.

Sorry folks, but I know nothing of the windows computers.  If you have any suggestions, or options that I might not have thought of, please use this time to educate me.  Also any thing that I might need to add t this, this will only be used for writing and note takiing, plugging in my iPod to watch movies or listen to music and websurfing.

Thanks guys, C-Ray.

The Lounge / Live from the moon

The story of Apollo television:  How it was accomplished.  "'Live From The Moon' tells the story of how television, still a technological toddler, was developed for space flight, and examines the impact of the iconic passages that were returned."  Included are never before seen images from the first test of the lunar surface television cameras, as well as rarely seen footage from the tracking stations that received the signal from the Moon.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / You are a hologram...

Forget String theory, Holographic Principle says you might just be a hologram.  Interesting stuff, but a long article.

Flat Earth Debate / Flat Earth Orrery
« on: December 23, 2008, 08:35:16 AM »
Do any of you know what this is?  Has anyone that you know of, either yourself or some other proponent of the society, tried to make one?  I feel that making one of these might really help your unify your theories of the motions of the heavens, sun, moon, shadow object.  The ones I have seen for Round Earth are extremely accurate.  Some of them even act as clocks that can actually tell you where the planets are in the system, once it is calibrated.  Others are simply toys for educational, visual purposes.

So has a Flat Earth Proponent tried anything like this?  Don't you think it might be a good idea to do so?

Discuss...

Thanks, Clint...

edit:
Oh and I do realize that orrery might not be the right word to use for something like this, because they deal with heliocentric models, but google turns up nothing when I search for Flat Earth model, orrery, calendar, clock, or the like.  Don't want to get derailed because there isn't a word for this, that I can find anyway.

Flat Earth Q&A / Sound off!
« on: September 09, 2008, 02:47:12 PM »
I have wrestled with this topic for a while.  I have thought about searching all over the forums for the answers, and I have tried, but honestly there is too much variation and too much senselessness about peanut butter and circular logic that I won't even go into.  Perhaps one of the moderators could sticky this somewhere and make it a newbie thread if you FE'rs will play nice and do what I am practically on my knees begging you to do.  I think this would help immensely to any noobs on these forums.  I have said this before, I will say it again.  Clearly there are a lot of intelligent people on these boards who can hold their own in a debate and are knowledgeable not only in the theory, or hypothesis, of Flat Earth but Round Earth as well.

Now to the meat of this topic.

I would love it if the Flat Earthers on these fine boards would use this discussion to sound off on their own theories of Flat Earth.

I have heard and read too much variation to be able to nail down and develop what I think is a true representation of FET.  For instance, Tom is the only one I know of that thinks that FE is an infinite plane.  Osama just said that he doesn't believe it is impossible to go to the moon.  Now whether he is just trying to rise someone or is honestly serious, or for hell all I know he could be a RE'er.  You can use this topic however you want as long as the results are the same; a clear and concise description of each FET in regards to the poster.  I would appreciate it if RE'ers would just hold back from making any comments at all.  I will try and work to gather some of the theories as I have heard them, but that could become a real mess.  There are a lot of very intelligent theories out there, but it is so hard to nail down this to that poster and that to this poster.  I can say from a noob myself, it is very frustrating to keep hearing new theories and read the FAQ when the FAQ doesn't fit most of the theories on this board.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Again, please only True Fe'rs who have valid theories pertaining to FET.

Begin.....

Flat Earth Q&A / Here's a question.
« on: August 20, 2008, 12:14:52 PM »
First and foremost, I don't expect an answer to this question.  I know anyone who believes in FET is incapable of providing such, but I started this discussion with some people who actually are knowledgeable and can support their own theories, and then we had a great laugh reading the FAQ thread together.  One of these folks posted this question and I told him I would post here for him.

You say everything is in a constant upward motion all at the same speed.  That means me the trees, the water, the sand on the ground, the marbles the kids are playing with on the playground, right?  So if I walk over and pick up one of these marbles and hold it in my hand between my fingers it should be going the same rate that I am traveling.  So if I hold this marble in my fingers and simply let go of it, shouldn't it float in mid air since there is no gravity?  I mean it is constantly moving at the same rate.  I have not changed it's velocity in any way what so ever.  I have simply let it go.  That discussion brought up another, we all agreed by the way, with out gravity, it should simply float.  Anyway, the second question that brought up.  I told them about the whole post about how jump up in your chair you fall back into your chair or rather, your chair comes back up to you.  That's how it was posted and I will copy and paste if asked.  One of the other folks in the discussion said, wait a second, you are already moving at this given speed, if you jump up you are adding speed to yourself, because you are already traveling at the speed the earth, FE, is moving you should just simply keep floating up because there is no gravity. In RET, it's gravity that pulls you back down.  I ask this now because it relates to an answer given in another thread about walking off a tree.  Again, everything is traveling at the same speed why would you fall?

So go ahead and make comments about how I might have mixed up the words speed and velocity or talk about how the north pole looks like someones splooge in so and so's avatar, or how I might have even spelled splooge wrong, but I dare someone who believes in FET to at least give this a crack.  Seems like a perfectly logical argument to me.  If not, by all means, enlighten us oh great believers of all you can only see that must be true.  Or don't.  By not doing so, you will only prove my point.

Thanks for nothing in advance. C-Ray
