Flat Earth Debate / March Equinox

Tomorrow is the March Equinox when most everywhere on the planet who can watch it will view the Sun rise due East and set due West.  This is not exactly perfect due to refraction, latitude, and a persons altitude but it is really close.

Now, if this is true, it is a strong case for the globe Earth.  If it is grossly untrue, then it would be a huge win for the flat Earth argument.

As many rounders and flatters who have the ability to wake up early or watch the sunset should record them.  Share your results!  Include a compass and maybe some reference indicating the day and location so it canít be said there is missing information.

This is a legitimate citation of the causes of gravity.  We donít know how it works, literally like ďmagicĒ just that it has an effect which we measure.  It is very much like ďmagicĒ and Mr. John Davis himself agreed with me.  It is hardly worth a citation.

Flat Earth General / Flat Earth Youtubers inadvertently reveal globe

This has happened many times. 

This video from a Flat Earther claims it is a mirror effect, it is obviously not.  The video speaks for itself.  If only he had brought his P2000 camera, it would have pulled it back into view Iím sure.


Here is Jeranism doing a flat Earth experiment on a canal in California.  The entire video is called ďBehind the CurveĒ and is on iTunes, I havenít dropped the $10 to buy it but probably will.  Interesting indeed...


Another clip from the same documentary; Bob Knodel a flat Earth content provider candidly tells how revealing data from their gyro compass strongly supporting the rotation of the Earth would be very bad for them.

When these flat Earth channel content makers do actual well thought out experiments in the real world with real tools, the results are not what they predicted.  Hopefully the documentary takes them to see the 24 hour Antarctic Sun but I doubt it.

Flat Earth General / FET SWAG

Iíve often wondered why this site isnít monetized to raise money for FET projects.  Go fund me page could be set up to assist in these projects as well.

Why not sell T-shirts and other creative things and take donations using that money to pay for things like sending a couple FE members to Antarctica to see if there is a 24 hour Sun?  Maybe even finance a trip to the South Pole in December?  Or something like building a rocket with FET approved cameras on it, or high altitude helium balloon experiment with FET approved cameras.  These trips could be tracked and live streamed for everyone on this site and others to view these projects in action. 

To me, if people are serious about FET, this is the obvious next step to push the envelope and provide funding for FET approved experiments for everyone to see.  We have the technology, why not do this?  Perhaps FET proponents arenít really interested in the answers they would find?

Flat Earth Debate / Refraction on the horizon does NOT make the Earth flat

In another thread it was claimed that since celestial observations are best observed when that object is not near the horizon that means the Earth is flat. 

My understanding is the FE argument is that the stars are disappearing due to refraction alone in an attempt to explain for example the disappearance of Polaris and its neighbor stars as you travel south.  The ~15 degrees per hour movement of the stars was also brought into question as that changes as stars near the horizon.

I would argue if the stars are always moving at about 15 degrees per hour then the stars are dipping beneath the horizon NOT just moving away from us as if on a conveyer belt becoming lost to us due to perspective making any local refraction meaningless except to someone attempting to see a specific stars specific position as it approaches the horizon before it dips below the horizon.

This is easily proven by our fellow human beings who are looking at that same set of stars at the same latitudes couple  thousand of miles to the west of your position.  You can watch the stars moving at 15 degrees per hour, they approach the horizon and local refraction goofs with you a little, but your friend can see that same star not being affected by horizon refraction moving into the horizon maintaining the same angular speed. Note, this is the same latitude.  12 hours later your third friend living about 12  timezones away on the same latitude from you can watch those same stars above the horizon continuing their rotation of ~15 degrees per hour moving towards the horizon.

Whatís this prove? It shows the stars are in fact disappearing from view due to the horizon because they are dipping UNDER it, not just being lost to us from refraction. The Earth is in the way.  Supporting the spinning globe model.

Flat Earth Debate / Star trails, what they tell us

Iím new to this forum.  Some of the most striking evidence to me are the star trails shape and more specifically their angular velocities as well as their directions they rotate tell us a lot about the potential shape of the Earth.  Can we discuss what the trails and velocities of the stars tell us about our own shape considering only the stars?

Without any other experiments, on any point in Earth, we can see the stars rise in the east and set in the west, like clockwork, in a little less then 24 hours they finish their path.  Their paths have perfect angular velocities which maintain their positions in the sky with increasing angular velocity from pole to equator. We see this by observing their star trails with time lapse images.   Better said, the stars around Polaris make incredibly short trails circling Polaris around 90 deg north while stars near 0 deg north of the equator clearly make the same circle but have longer trails.  The same is true south of the equator looking south at a southern pole in the sky.  This is indisputable.  This tells us, either the spherical shell of stars are rotating perfectly with both Polaris  and a southern point in the sky as its poles, or the Earth is rotating and the stars are staying in place.   

The stars take approximately 12 hours to rise in the east after they set in the west.  This tells us something about our Earth as well as the stars. The stars are a rotating sphere with half of the stars on the other side of the Earth or the Earth is rotating, either way, the Earth is NOT an infinite plane since teleportation of stars is pretty silly.

What are some things the simple paths, speed, and directions of the stars tell us about our Earth?
