Flat Earth Debate / Equinox is coming
« on: September 19, 2016, 07:56:32 PM »
On September 22nd we will have equinox.
Sun will be directly above the equator.
~~~~~
On Globe Earth Sun will rise at azimuth of 90 degrees anywhere in the world.
It will be at 6 am solar time, but Daylight Saving will make it 7 am.
On Flat Earth azimuth of sunrise will depend on where you live.
For example:
If you live at 45 degrees north, azimuth of sunrise will be 62 degrees.
If you live at the Equator, azimuth of sunrise will be 45 degrees.
If you live at 45 degrees south, azimuth of sunrise will be 33 degrees.
It will be at 6 am solar time, but Daylight Saving will make it 7 am.
Same goes for sunset:
On Globe Earth Sun will set at azimuth of 270 degrees anywhere in the world.
It will be at 6 pm solar time, but Daylight Saving will make it 7 pm.
On Flat Earth azimuth of sunset will depend on where you live.
For example:
If you live at 45 degrees north, azimuth of sunset will be 298 degrees.
If you live at the Equator, azimuth of sunset will be 315 degrees.
If you live at 45 degrees south, azimuth of sunset will be 327 degrees.
It will be at 6 pm solar time, but Daylight Saving will make it 7 pm.
~~~~~
Azimuth is angle measured from north, horizontally, clockwise.
Azimuth of 90 degrees means "directly to the east".
Azimuth of 180 degrees means "directly to the south".
Azimuth of 270 degrees means "directly to the west".
Azimuth of 359 degrees means "one degree to the left from north"
(because north is at 360 degrees, which is same direction as zero).
~~~~~
Good luck with your observations and measurements.
Quote
The azimuth is the angle between the north vector and the perpendicular projection of the star down onto the horizon.
Azimuth is usually measured in degrees (°).
The concept is used in navigation, astronomy, engineering, mapping, mining and artillery.
Azimuth of 90 degrees means "directly to the east".
Azimuth of 180 degrees means "directly to the south".
