Flat Earth General / ISS altitude measured

Here is a link to Red's Rhetoric and how he measured the altitude of the ISS.

That is cool.

Flat Earth General / Simple proof of a sphere
« on: February 10, 2018, 05:14:00 PM »
So, last week I was driving along around 8:00 AM
I noticed the quarter moon above me.
I knew the sunrise was in 45 minutes or so.
I pulled over to watch.

It was dark, but the moon was lit up.
I know the sun is shining on the moon.
But I can't see the sun, why?
Even with binoculars, no sun.

As the earth rotates, the darkness departs and light replaces.
Finally the sun starts to show itself.
I can see the sun shining, and the moon reflecting,
They are both visible in the sky.

And as I looked, I thought to myself.
This is so cool, nobody looking at this can say
The earth is not a sphere.

Flat Earth General / 16 year old evades Antarctica blockade
« on: January 27, 2018, 04:50:34 PM »
C'mon FE, there is no navy/army preventing you from going to Antarctica.
This 16 year old made it there, and she made you a sandwich.

And like she said,
Ski here and eat it.

Flat Earth General / Super Blue Blood Moon
« on: January 25, 2018, 05:10:34 PM »
At the end of the month in many places on the earth
A moon trifecta will be happening.

It's a Super Moon cause it's really close to the earth.
It's a Blue Moon cause it's the second full moon in one month.
It's a Blood Moon cause the earth will take on a reddish hue.

The reddish hue is due to a total lunar eclipse.
That is so cool.

What are the thoughts of the FE crowd?
Will you have a look at this moon?
Do you think it dangerous?

If you feel it is dangerous, why?
What symptoms or illness could befall a person?

Flat Earth General / Curvature of the earth?
« on: January 23, 2018, 05:09:00 PM »
Both the FE and RE crowds make a big deal about looking for the curvature of the horizon.
Hell, I probably posted something about it, but...

Think of it this way, if you are on the top deck of a cruise ship, say 200 ft.
And you are in the middle of the ocean,  and have a 360 degree view of the horizon.

With your eyes on the horizon, as you spin 360 degrees around.
Does the horizon curve?  I don't think it can.
It goes all the way around and ends up where it started.

This doesn't prove FE or disprove RE,
I just found it interesting.

Flat Earth General / Meteors; Why does FE hate them?
« on: January 20, 2018, 02:17:14 PM »
When I read about the meteor exploding over Michigan recently
I thought to myself, "Wonder what FE thinks of this?"
So I googled it and watched some vid's, all at least a year old.

I'll tell you about them
But first I'll answer my question
FEs hate meteors cuz they don't fit in their way of thinking.

First one was by Jake Gibson.
He didn't like the way all the impact craters on the moon were round.
He figured they should have a scrape, or a ditch or something.

So now he has a premise, and he's going to test it.
Can you guess what he used to compare a huge rock impacting the moon?
Yup, you're right.  He shot a BB gun at a piece of fruit.
Now that is funny.

Second one was by Prepared Mind.
He hinted that it was NASA conspiring to do something (never really clear what)
And then came his proof.

Several pics/vids of meteors coming in at an angle,
Basically the same premise as the first vid.
Craters should have a ditch!

His proof?  A screen shot of Superman's space capsule
And the ditch it left after it landed on earth.

The 3rd one insisted all the craters were sink holes or volcanoes.
He kept on about hexagons, polygons and straight lines pointing to volcanoes
Also a lot of; this could be, that might be Arizona, don't know what that is

I will admit, the vid's were entertaining.
I laughed a lot.

Flat Earth General / Predictions, can FE do it?
« on: January 16, 2018, 05:46:49 PM »
I posted a couple things about apps
Asking if FE could predict what anyone can see on their phone.

Nobody on the FE side posted anything resembling an answer.
The spherical earth conspiracy predicts a lot of stuff.
Comets come to mind.

Is there anyone one out there in FE land
That would like to take a stab at predicting anything?

Just show how on your flat earth,
Half of the earth is in daylight.
Easily tested.

Also, during the month of June
Explain 24 hrs daylight in the north
24 hrs of darkness in the south.
And the opposite in December.

I can't see how it can work on a flat earth.
Please enlighten me.

Flat Earth General / Stuff on my iphone 2
« on: January 14, 2018, 03:48:06 PM »
The first thing I brought up
Was Maps on your smart phone.

It is very cool.
To see which part of earth is lit up.

This time I'm asking you to go and get an app
Moon Globe is the name, it's free.

It allows you to see the phases of the moon.
Predicts when there is going to be a full, quarter moon etc.

Check it out.
Then think about how could this work on a FE?

Flat Earth General / Stuff on my iphone.
« on: January 14, 2018, 01:27:42 PM »
I found something neat on my iphone.

It's the Maps app that came with my phone.
When you open it on the upper right there is an "i", an arrow and usually a "3D" icon.
If the 3D icon isn't there, zoom in until it shows up, and click on it.

Once you click on it, start zooming out, making the earth smaller.
Eventually you should see a globular earth, with your location shown by a blue dot.
The cool part is that you can spin the globe and see what parts are in daylight and which are in darkness.

Now, if you are a FE this of course is all BS
Cause it's based on a spherical earth that they know is BS.
But it does offer an easy opportunity to test whether the info is accurate.

Have a look at what is lit up, and what isn't.
Contact people around the world and find out if the info is accurate.
Not that hard in this day and age.

Right now in northern Canada, I'm sharing daylight with
Most of Australia, most of SA and of course Antarctica.

Flat Earth General / Jeranism and Antarctica
« on: January 11, 2018, 04:23:18 PM »
I watched a video put out by Jeranism about 24 hours of daylight at Antarctica.
The video is over a year old but since it still is up on youtube,
I assume he still believes in its content.

Basically he says that according to RE, during summer in Antarctica
There should be 24 hours of daylight, and this would kill the flat earth.
He then shows a video that he bitches and moans about.
He's right, it wasn't a great video, he should have got a different one.
There are lots out there.

Here are some places on earth, their daylight hours and their lat/long
If you don't want to read through it, that's fine. Here's a recap.
It starts at 24 hrs of darkness at the North Pole.
As the list moves south, the daylight hours increase.
Until it reaches the South Pole where it is 24 hrs of daylight.
This is all easily verifiable. FEs just contact each other,
From different parts of the globe, to refute these numbers

You know what the coolest part of this?
Come June, this will all be reversed,
Fit that on a flat map.

North Pole; Dark until early March; 90 deg N
Inuvik, NT Can; 2 hrs, 8 mins; 68 N  134W
Yellowknife, NT Can; 5 hrs, 45 mins; 62N 114W
Edmonton, AB, Can; 7 hrs 53 mins; 54N 113W
Washington, DC; 9 hrs, 39 mins; 39N 77W
Mexico City, Mex; 11 hrs, 3 mins; 19N 99W
Quito, Ecuador; 12 hrs, 8 mins; Equator, 78W
Sucre, Bolivia; 13 hrs, 11 mins; 19S, 65W
Santiago, Chile; 14 hrs, 11 mins; 33S, 71W
Tortel, Chile; 15 hrs, 40 mins; 47S, 74W
Ushuaia, Argentina; 16 hrs, 50 mins; 55S, 68W
Belgrano Base, Antarctica; 24 hrs daylight, 1300 KM from South pole.

Flat Earth General / People on the fence about FE
« on: January 10, 2018, 03:58:30 PM »
If you're considering joining the FE movement.
I have a couple things for you to consider.

Many FE videos on youtube use the distance squared times 8 inches to debunk the curvature, sphere thing.
They promote it as an equation accepted by RE that does not work on a round earth.
The reason it doesn't work on a round earth it is NOT an accepted formula.
Check this link out.
https://flatearthinsanity.blogspot.ca/2016/08/flat-earth-follies-how-to-derive-8-per.html

Another thing you fence sitters should do is check out the videos of wolfie6020.
He is an Australian pilot, with a bunch of cameras, telescopes and some brains.

The reason I like his vid's is he does not use vulgarity or put downs.
I'm not a prude but endless put downs and name calling gets boring.
Also, there is little to no math involved.
Nor does he quote other "experts".

He sets up real time experiments and videos the results.
I'm not saying he is infallible but I was impressed with his attention to detail.

So, check out his vid's, they are worth a look.
Meanwhile, if there happens to be a FE pilot out there doing the same thing
Point me in that direction.

Flat Earth General / If you want FE to be taken seriously
« on: January 06, 2018, 05:10:43 PM »
The first thing you need is a map that is at least close to being usable.
This is huge.  You got no map, you got nothing.

Next, you have to agree the sun lights half of the earth at all times.
This is verifiable by many ways.  No way to argue against it.
So how does your FE sun do this?

If you can figure that out, when the sun is out (FE sun is always out)
From the dark parts of FE why can't I see the lit up parts?
Even from the tallest building or mountain?
Like a concert, you're in the dark but the band is all lit up.
And you can see them.

While we're on the sun, if the sun just makes a circle above the flat earth, why doesn't its size change?  Optics says it should.  Close big; far small.

Now you need a way to explain 24 hour daylight at the 2 poles.
Not easily done on a FE, especially since most FE maps only have one pole and an outer rim.

Once you get all that there is still the moon.
That is a tough one, with all the f'king phases and stuff.
Tough to do on a flat earth.

All of the above that are near impossible on a flat earth
Work just fine on a globe, and have for centuries.

Flat Earth General / This site has forced me to
« on: January 04, 2018, 05:16:09 PM »
Learn or perhaps relearn long lost stuff.
Trigonometry I guess is at the top, but I still have work to do here.

Centripetal force was one of the coolest
When I was in school they taught the "imaginary" centrifugal force.
I finally understood when I thought of driving a car and suddenly turning left.
And my buddy's head would hit the window.

How an orbit works is also extremely cool.
You have forward speed.
Gravity pulls you down.
If your speed is just right, you just keep falling.
And around you go.
Speed too slow? Crash into ground.
Speed too fast? Fly off into space.

Latitude and longitude, used this to examine the most often presented FE maps.
I never really knew what they were for before.

How to present an argument.
This is a work in progress but I'm trying.

Anyway, I know more now than when I signed up.
Thanks.

Flat Earth General / Osiris-Rex pic
« on: January 03, 2018, 02:10:32 PM »
https://www.space.com/39268-osiris-rex-snaps-color-pic-of-earth-and-moon.html

Wow, what a picture.
It gives you an idea of the immense distances involved.

FEs wil say it is fake but think about it.
3,000,000 miles away and all you can see is earth and moon.

Where are all the other planets?
Many, many moons away.
Sorry for the pun.

Flat Earth General / Southern Cross and Polaris
« on: December 31, 2017, 01:43:12 PM »
It is my understanding on the globe
If you want to see Polaris you have to be no further south than 2 degrees below the equator.
Any more than that (Australia for example) you can't see Polaris.
How does this work on a flat earth?

Flat Earth General / New Year Resolution for FE
« on: December 30, 2017, 04:27:36 PM »
FE should be to band together,
Conduct an experiment to elevate their hypothesis to a theory.

Sentinel posted one done by Sly Sparkane and a bunch of REs.
Their evidence pointed to a spherical earth.

Accept the challenge and get a group of FEs together
Under the same constraints and post your results.

Flat Earth General / Think about it FES
« on: December 29, 2017, 02:23:09 PM »
You are denying existing science
On a forum that was created using existing science.

You can't have it both ways.
Use science and prove something that matches your flat earth.

Better luck in the new year...

Flat Earth General / New York area FEs
« on: December 28, 2017, 05:22:51 PM »
I've got a job for you, on the Verrazano-Narrows bridge
Check to see if the 2 towers are vertical.

Use the longest bubble level you can find, steal, or borrow.
Place it on each of the towers to confirm they are in fact vertical.

Now comes the hard part.
You need to become a surveyor or hire one.

According to the global thingy,
The tops of the two towers are just over 41mm apart compared to their bases.
Just over 1.6 inches.

To prove flat earth and become the FE god,
Do the measurements.

I await your denials.

Flat Earth General / Ham radios on a flat earth
« on: December 16, 2017, 02:03:45 PM »
Are there any flat earth believers that are ham radio operators?

Apparently when using a ham radio with a directional antenna,
You can use the "short path" and aim your antenna at your target to communicate.
Point A to B, makes sense.

Or you can spin your antenna 180 degrees
And use the "long path" and still communicate with your target.

On a flat earth this shouldn't work.
There should only be one path.

FE ham guys, step up!

Suggestions & Concerns / How many individuals have posted
« on: December 13, 2017, 04:42:43 PM »
On this site in the last month?
I know this isn't a suggestion or a concern but I couldn't figure out where to post this question.

I'm sure it's possible but I don't know the difficulty level of my request.
Anyway, just curious as to how many people post per month.

Flat Earth Q&A / Generally Accepted Map?
« on: February 03, 2016, 03:41:00 PM »
I have only been on this forum for a short time.  Although not an FE believer I find the idea fascinating.  Maybe I'm going to the wrong posts but most of the debates I've read eventually break down to name calling and questioning each others intelligence.
That being said, I realize that FE is not a unified theory but is there a map that is accepted by the majority of FE'ers?
