Let's talk about the extraordinary evidence that could give us insight to this extraordinary flat earth hypothesis. I haven't been able to find any, so I'm hopping you can provide. Let's make this a catalouge for extraordinary evidence.

Flat Earth Debate / Earth is special
« on: March 02, 2016, 09:58:42 AM »
Science has spoken. After observing Mars, Venus and Jupiter, I can conclude that Planet Earth is special. On these planets there was easy to observe the terminator line on the surface. Since the terminator is present then those planets must be round. Since earth is not round the earth must be special. Thank you. A flat planet is truly amazing, I can't even begin to comprehend the inplications which follow. What a wonderful world.

Flat Earth Q&A / The moon terminator illusion
« on: March 01, 2016, 12:34:14 AM »
The moon terminator line isn't allways pointing directly at the sun. This is called the moon terminator illusion and becomes clear when the sun and moon are a great distance apart in the sky. This is very well explained by the fact that the sun is very very far away, compared to the moon. The parralax between them are very different. And therefore the distance between them bends from our point of view. Just like the distance between railroad tracks.

My question is this: how does flat earth "theory" explain this illusion?

Go watch Michael Stevens vsauce video on this phenomenon, he explained it very well!

Flat Earth Debate / Imagine if...
« on: February 16, 2016, 12:52:52 AM »
Let's imagine a high tower. This tower is very, very high. And it has an elevator. A very fast elevator. This tower is placed on an island in the pacific ocean. As far as you can get from any island. Imagine standing on the highest point. Watching the sun as it rises from the sea. What do you think you will see when tou take the superfast elevator down to sea level?

I can't emphasize enough that this is a thought experiment, this proves nothing. This tower is purely imaginery, and I have not implied that such a tower could exist. I want you to try and imagine this event before you reply. Think about it for a while, draw it if you must. Enjoy!

Flat Earth Q&A / Why can't they pass the equator?
« on: January 14, 2016, 01:41:06 AM »
This Q is for all the flatliners out there, physics on a globe already explained this phenomenon decades ago. So I know the answer if we accept earth is a rotating planet.
So what exactly is causing rotating storm systems to never pass the equatorial line around the planet? Oh wait, "equatorial" line around the "planet" cause I know your church is against such logic.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Antibiotic Resistent Bacteria
« on: December 31, 2015, 05:37:37 AM »
I am interested in hearing your thoughts on antibiotic resistant bacteria.

In a nutshell: By heavy overuse of antibiotics we breed resistent bacteria. We kill the bacteria that can't survive this cure, but the stronger ones survive and duplicate. After years of doing this we breed deadly killer bacteria.

How long do you think it will take before antibiotics are totally useless, and we are back to square one on fighting infections?

What's the main reason causing this effect? food production? Medical use? Other?

Flat Earth Q&A / A Brief History-question of and about Rocks?
« on: December 23, 2015, 08:09:33 PM »
Long time ago, came a rock through space, landed on a rock and another rock and another rock...
Let me tell you the shape of rocks, some are flat, some are round, some are square and some are a little off.
Some are are hard and some are soft, some break apart and create more little rocks.
The thing about shapes are that they are shaped in shape-like shapes. You see?
Some shapes fits nicely inside other shapes, just like pennies and a vajayjay.
What I find to be the greatest thing about rocks is that they are high, deep and wide! They are 3D shapes!
My favourite game is the rockballfight! Because the lack of snow here in Norge because of global warming:(:(

But rockballfight is fun, I once threw a rockball so hard it started spinning.
It then escaped from me and got stolen by the fire man, the fire man keeps all the rock, ice and gas balls in motion around his place..

You see? The question is why rocks are not flat when clearly earth is.

Flat Earth Debate / Welcome to the Flat Earth Society
« on: December 13, 2015, 07:49:55 AM »
I give you the Flat Earth Society.

Have you been told te earth was round?
Have you only seen a flat horizon, not a round one?
Have you grown tried of paying taxes that NASA used to build imaginery rockets?
Do you think of your self a skeptic, but every skeptic you converse with is wrong?
Do you believe a god created earth for mankind?

If you can answer yes to this, I give you the FES, congratulations on being an idiot.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Point of View: Theist vs. Anti Theist
« on: December 13, 2015, 06:09:15 AM »
From a scientific point of view, we simply wish to learn more about the universe.
From a religious point of view, we simply know the answer, god did it.
From a theist point of view, belief gives me hope.
From an anti theist point of view, I accept that I don't know.

Why must one or the other be true?

Theist: (Jesus)  (Mohammad)  (Buddha)   (Thor)
------------------------------------------------------
Anti Theist: (Neither)

The names above represent a religion, they all state that if you believe in me, eternal life will be given. We assume eternal life is what we wish. This creates a paradox:
If you believe in one of them, the others will rescent you.
And if we assume every god is equally represented among worshippers, there is nothing to help determine what god to choose. This is a sticky situation, how are we going to recieve eternal life??

The key is to look at this paradix from a slight different angle. Try to look at it from the anti theist point of view. The anti theist sees all alternatives as highly improbable, and therefore goes undecided, but how is this going to give ne eternal life?

I am now going to suggest that our first assumption is wrong. Maybe we are asking the wrong question, or maybe the question has no further meaning than speculation. What would the implications of this be?

We end up below the dotted line I have created. We go on with our lives and never worry that we chose the wrong god. We do respect others as we wish others will respect us. We simply go on, not pushing believes upon others, we go on undecided.

Now, this is the crucial part. Now we assume eternal life is what we want, then we ask the question: If there was a god, an allmighty intelligent being who can grant us eternal life. Why would this thing have anything against a person who goes undecided, but lives a good life and respect the world around him.

It seems more likely to me, that he would judge those who jump to the first temptation of a man made god, for what if god has never shown himself to us. For if a god really did create the universe. Then he must be thrilled by the idea, that we, an intelligent species of apes on a few Islands on a watery world, in the universe which he created, can discover the universe, and become aware that we are the cosmos made conscious. Why he would care about us, and at least judge us, is by it self illogical.

Please discuss, and ask me anything!

Flat Earth Debate / The SEM - Sphere Earth Model could be wrong
« on: December 12, 2015, 01:51:15 PM »
Meet the Spherical Earth Model.

The Spherical Earth Model is a new one on which i'm working....

"The base of this idea has been maturing inside my brain ever since I was hired to write DET as a parody to FET by JRetardedSkeptic. As you have all witnessed, this got quite out of hand and therefore I choose to come forward with my story."

The Spherical Earth Model is a Model which requires the least effort to understand, it will require non of your time, it will have no effect on your personal life. If all the wild conspiracies on the internet was religion, SEM would be atheism. If all the worlds interests was a hobby, SEM would be the same as not collecting butterflies.

SEM relies on a few simple principles;
1. Do not over-analyse the simple.
2. Do not look for pattern where you wish to find one.
3. Be ready to change your mind.
4. Solutions may appear counter intuitive.
5. Evidence will come, do not approach subjectively.
6. Think for your self, and you will find yourself.

If you agree on these steps, I think you will understand.

Flat Earth Q&A / Accidents in Space
« on: December 08, 2015, 04:25:47 AM »
So, space travel is a hoax to make americans pay tax, right?

The Columbia space shuttle blew up during re entry, killing its crew.

Or so we have been told!

What I can't wrap my head around is why. Why did the shuttle explode?
We have two possibillities:
1) the story is true
2) NASA blew it up

Whats more likley? NASA did it if course.

But why would they do this if the goal is to make american people want to pay for space travel?

What happens to the crew? Are they still alive in NASAs basement or did NASA actually kill them?

What about their families?

These where astronauts and obviously they knew there was a hoax before they got into the shuttle.

The story is full of logical gaps, neither makes sence. If we asume possibillity 1, gaps evaporate, thoughts?

Flat Earth General / I miss you FE map developer
« on: December 04, 2015, 02:43:29 PM »
What ever happened to TheFEScietist? Claire, I think was her name. She was developing a map of the flat earth, on which she lived. Anyway I was really looking foreward to seeing that! If you are out there, Pls tell us how the progress is doing.

You know I was thinking that if there ever was a map, we could easily compare distances with the fe map and re globe, whatever matches reality wins right? So why dont you guys start mapping, or are you afraid of what we'll find out?

Flat Earth Debate / Geocentric? more like Egocentric!
« on: December 01, 2015, 01:06:17 PM »
Let's analyse the implications of what an geocentric SS means.
It's not difficult to find the distance to any planet using a method called parralax.
So we measure the distance to Neptune, could be any other planet but it's my favorite. Now we know the distance we can use geometry to figure out its speed. Since it is suppose to orbit earth once per 24hours, lets make an equation, making no assumptions at all.

If an object moves in a circular path, we can understand that the distance it travels, divided by the time it takes equals the speed(change in position)/(change in time). Since we know the radius of the sircoolar path, which is the distance from centre to path. We can determine the orbital distance, which is the circumference=2pi*r

so, we get Speed=(2Pi*r)/(time)

I have personally measured Neptune to be approximately 4.7 billion km away from earth, I work as an astronomer, you see.

now the input: Speed=(2*pi*4.7 10^12m)/(24h*60m/h*60s/m) and we get?

Speed=341 793 645 m/s

Clearly this is impossible. Unless neptunians have Alcubierre drive, which I find highly implausible.

To make a model, based on science, which contradicts the most fundamental laws of physics? Let me ask you, is truly egocentric by definition to believe everything revolves around me!

Flat Earth Debate / Watch The Sun Rise Twice
« on: September 17, 2015, 05:06:45 PM »
1. Go to dubai.
2. Make sure weather is nice.
3. Go to the top of The Burj Khalifa Skyscraper at sun rise.
4. Watch the sun rise.
5. Take the elevaror down.
6. Watch the sun rise again from the ground.

You can do this with any tower but I like Dubai and to be way up high.

How can this occur on a flat surface? pls explain. Stay relevant, I don't want to hear dumb statements like "light bends" because we are not on a black hole, just earth.

Flat Earth Debate / Is this why there's no map?
« on: September 05, 2015, 06:09:30 AM »
Hello, I have previously posted this idea on an older thread. No one could answer me, there seemed to be at no interest what so ever amongst flater's. This makes me wonder why so I'm making it a thread. Please tell me what you think, but try to stick to the topic, and try to use scietific documentation behind a statement, a link will be appreciated. Thank you.

If they made a flat earth map, we would end the debate once and for all.  This is why:

It is simply impossible to project a spherical surface on a flat surface, because of geomertical distortions. Distances close to the poles will get streched and those close to the equator will be compressed.(or vica versa depending on what you wish to have in center). If they made a map, we could compare it to a global projection like Google Earth or a simple globe. And then we could compare those distances to real earth measurements.

Perhaps they actually understand and this is why they dont have a map?

And if you don't understand, find a flat map and try to wrap it around a football.
(soccerball for those who think a football is something you grab and throw)

Flat Earth General / Speed of Light?
« on: August 30, 2015, 03:15:45 PM »
Hey guys. If the earth's gravity really is created by the ground accelerating with 9.8 m/s^2, I find it difficult to make sense of general relativity wich states that objects with mass can not reach the speed of light, here is my reason:

since the earth has existed for (4.54 10^9 years 1%) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_the_Earth)
in seconds it will be: (4,54*10^9)y*(365d/y)*(24h/d)*(60m/h)*(60s/m) = 1.4317344e+17 or about 1,4*10^17 seconds old.

if we want to find the minimum speed which earth is traveling through space, we can simply multiply the numbers toghether:

(9.8m/s^2)*(1,4*10^17s) = 1.4030997e+18 m/s

this is really fast, in fact light speed is approximately 3*10^8 m/s which is kind of slow compared to earth's speed.
compared:

1.4030997e+18/3*10^8 = 4.68023682 10^9

this is huge because it implies that the earth is traveling about 4 billion times faster that the speed of light.

Is general relativity wrong? sorry about my grammar, english is not my first language. Thanks for reading!
