Flat Earth Debate / sokarul is wrong, yet again.
« on: October 05, 2015, 12:04:42 AM »
This post is to show sokarul and everyone else on this forum how his is wrong from the 'Hurricanes not crossing the equator' discussion found here:
http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=64590.0#.VhISYflVhBc

Since sokarul has predictably run away from yet another debate I'll address it here in a new topic (full text provided for context, emphasis mine, to highlight the relevant stuff).

The claim I made was this:
Cyclone Agni did it.  Not to mention, it's clearly depicted on your 'map'.

Sokarul's direct response to my post:
Looks like it wasn't a cyclone yet. Either way, it seems more than a coincidence that there is an area the storms don't travel through.

My response to his post:
So? It was still cyclonic and became anticyclonic as it crossed the equator.

To which he replied:
According to wikipedia it was not a cyclone yet. If you have a problem, take it up with them.  We use tropical storm and hurricane here, so the way wiki reads it was still developing when it crossed the equator. So it was more like a tropical storm and not a hurricane, yet. So that would mean it wasn't a cyclone yet.

So I asked him to explain his posts and how they applied to my statement.
That's the dodgy sokarul I remember!

Now, how about answering my last post and telling all of us what those two quotes had to do with my statement.

I'm betting you can't, and that's why you keep dodging.  Justify your statements.

And his response:
Yawn.

And that's basically how the topic continues.

So, let's explain his two statements since he won't:

#1:
Looks like it wasn't a cyclone yet. Either way, it seems more than a coincidence that there is an area the storms don't travel through.
The only reason for this statement is if he believed that the storm was not cyclonic at the time of its crossing of the equator because it was not a cyclone yet.

So I replied that the storm was cyclonic at the time of the crossing and became what is known as anticyclonic after the crossing.  The term cyclonic has nothing to do with whether or not a storm is a cyclone, but if it is exibiting cyclonic motion.

#2:
His reply to remind everyone:
According to wikipedia it was not a cyclone yet. If you have a problem, take it up with them.  We use tropical storm and hurricane here, so the way wiki reads it was still developing when it crossed the equator. So it was more like a tropical storm and not a hurricane, yet. So that would mean it wasn't a cyclone yet.

Let's look at this piece by piece:
Quote
According to wikipedia it was not a cyclone yet
The only reason for this statement, is again, if he believes a storm is only cyclonic if it is called a cyclone.

Quote
We use tropical storm and hurricane here, so the way wiki reads it was still developing when it crossed the equator.
So the only reason for this statement is if he believes a developing storm can't exhibit cyclonic motion.

Quote
So it was more like a tropical storm and not a hurricane, yet.
This statement shows how little he actually knows about tropical storms.  He believes a tropical storm is not cyclonic.

Quote
So that would mean it wasn't a cyclone yet.
This is at least the fourth time he has stated that Cyclone Agni was not a cyclone when it passed the Equator.  This can only mean that he strongly believes a storm will not be cyclonic until it is a cyclone or a hurricane.

So, since he specifically stated this:
Quote
So it was more like a tropical storm and not a hurricane, yet.
That means he does not know that it is at the tropical storm stage in which a storm begins to show the typical cyclonic shape of a cyclone.  Which Wikipedia is happy to point out:
Quote from: Wiki
Tropical storm
A tropical storm is an organized system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds between 34 knots (63 km/h) and 64 knots (119 km/h). At this point, the distinctive cyclonic shape starts to develop, although an eye is not usually present.

And, on the Wiki page for Cyclone Agni:
Quote from: Wiki
While the system was organizing, the center crossed the equator to reach about 0.5 S, thus becoming an anticyclonic circulation in the southern hemisphere.
...
However according to RSMC La Reunion the precursor low to Cyclone Agni, moved into the Southern Hemisphere and became an anticyclone as it had kept its counter-clockwise circulation

tl;dr version:  sokarul was wrong, yet again.

Like the title says:

Gravitation holds us to the ground.  This gravitation is caused by acceleration.  I believe it because it makes sense, and simple experiments can prove its existence.  For example:  Hold a pen, then let it go.  Evidence of acceleration.

TheEngineer wins yet again.

This is getting tiresome. Again and again and again, give me numbers! Give me mathematical formulations! Give me predictions based on the models! Try to look like a scientist, not a rhetoric expert!
So, I take this to mean you concede that you have no idea what you are talking about.  Arguing about non inertial FORs and pseudo forces without doing your research, shame on you.

If you want numbers, predictions and mathematical formulations, read a book on General Relativity.  You could really use the education.

For all the rest in the forum: when TheEngineer talks, please ask for more than word games.
I think he even admits playing games. I know he says he wields knowledge for his amusement only. Notice how he's so quick to jump on the word game opportunity against a REer, but fails to challenge even the most inane claim (like the dogplatter's claim that the new Moon is held aloft by the photoelectric effect) when a FEer presents it. Let's all of us REers agree to discount TheEngineer to the lowest of values, on par with TomB.

He's still the most intelligent person I've come across on these boards so fuck your opinion.

He just copied and pasted it from here
Actually, I got it from my modern physics class.  But that site is fine too.  Too bad you guys didn't know about it sooner, it may have allowed you two to save some face.

LOL, classic ownage.

This is hilarious.  Good show, Engy.  :D

I've never seen TheEngineer to be wrong yet, so I'd bet on him; although I would prefer if he'd just put barnett out of his misery.

He's claiming he is right when no one else is.

Did you happen to read what TheEngineer quoted NTheGreat saying?

This is what I am having issues with. If you think he's right and everyone else is wrong, then there is something wrong with you.

In my entire time here, TheEngineer has never been wrong. Everytime I research the debate to establish who is correct, he always wins.

Now again, how do you plan on determining the correctness of physically equivalent events?

And I have tried many times (unsuccessfully because of your idiocy)
Very ironic, as I have had the same experience with you...

Thank you for that productive post.

Dick.

The Engineer is a douchebag.

I think he's a douchebag too.

Yeah the Engineer is a douchebag.  So is Erasmus.

Oh and the only thing I hate more than The Engineer is The Engineer's signature.  Take it down man, it's not funny at all.

and from my all time favorite thread:

Most RE'ers are an embarrassment to the human race.  That is reason enough.

Matter of incorrect opinion.
Right, yours.  Thanks for proving my point about RE'ers being embarrassments.

We are on topic:  How RE'ers are an embarrassment to the human race.  You keep stacking up the evidence with your posts.

Wow, looks like you failed.
I like her.

Therefore, you fail.

And Dyno is simply saying that to most of the world, perception is reality.
Sometimes, you RE'ers make the arguments for us.  Thanks.

Bingo. If they are coming here to play intellectual bully (to use YaaL's favourite pejorative), they should get their facts straight.
And their asses handed to them at every chance.

Seriously, how have you guys managed in my absence?

By the way, I ask - no, demand - that my previous mod/admin rights be restored!

So...what's up, yo?  Who is still here that I would remember?

I've gone and got an even better job, and so it's been really hectic these last few months.  And yes, I am still a war profiteer.

Hutchinson claims that by manipulation of an EM field, he can make objects levitate.  He also claims he can change the crystalline structure of metals.  He has many videos of his experiments.  He has never been able to reproduce his experiments in the presence of others.  One of his videos shows a string gyrating in unison with one of his levitating objects.  Under pressure, he has claimed he was forced to reproduce his results with 'different' methods for television shows.  The videos are awesome.

If any of you saw Napoleon Dynamite, the time travel device in it was an actual device that is sold by Steven Gibbs.  He claims that his 'future self' traveled back in time to give him the rough plans for this device.  This was done because it was necessary that his abilities be used in completing the device.  Apparently, super advanced futuristic time travel devices require Radio Shack parts to work.  I guess Radio Shack has gone out of business in the near future.
