Flat Earth Q&A / The Humble Beginnings of the "Conspiracy"
« on: July 04, 2007, 07:50:44 PM »
To my knowledge, people living in the the "pre-space" ages believed the earth was round because of "what they saw out their windows". However, in 276 B.C., a genius named Eratosthenes believed the earth was round. He took measurements in Syene (a city in Egypt) and in Alexandria (also a city in Egypt) a year apart, on the same day of the year. Knowing the distance between both cities, and using simple calculations, he estimated the Earth diameter at 7,850 miles. Today, we know that Eratosthenes' estimate was only about 0.5% off. So my question is, was this man the beginning of the conspiracy? explain.

Flat Earth Q&A / Something No Ones Thought Of
« on: July 02, 2007, 08:26:57 AM »
Throughout my time training to be a pilot, I have always assumed the earth to be round. This includes learning the radio frequencies that must be chosen to navigate. But the problem is with these radio navigation aids, their signal is only line of sight, it doesn't bend. To receive a signal 39 nautical miles away, you have to climb to 1000' to compensate for the "curvature" of the earth. To receive a signal 51 nm away you have to climb to 2000', or else the signal is lost. So, in a flat world, wouldn't these signals be available for much farther? a.k.a the end of the world? I knew there'd be something i could get you guys with.

Flat Earth Q&A / south pole "references"
« on: June 26, 2007, 07:56:03 AM »
Here are some references that someone wanted from my last thread that was so conveniently locked.

ski to the south pole
http://www.polarexplorers.com/SPSki.htm
http://www.adventure-network.com/display.asp?navid=1&id=57

south pole station
http://www.southpolestation.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amundsen-Scott_South_Pole_Station

magnetic variation
http://www.solarpathfinder.com/spf1/images/spf/magdec-world-big.jpg
(I know that variation exists, I'm a pilot)

In conclusion, I was just wondering what the FE theory is on these sites, because if its bribes, wouldn't it make sense to go on the trips to the south pole and make a quick buck?

Flat Earth Q&A / south pole

I'm not sure if this is in the FAQ, if it is just tell me, but I was just wondering what the FE theory is on the people who have made it to the south pole and where it is that they take you on the "ski to the south pole" tours, or the Amundsen-Scott south pole station, and finally magnetic variation. If any of this is in the FAQ, just quote it for me. Thanx.
