Flat Earth Q&A / Q: "What about satellites? How do they orbit the Earth?

No, they aren't the same thing.

Gravity : attraction to the center of a massive object (like the Earth).

Acceleration : the rate at which the object attracted will go towards the center of the massive object.

Attraction is still acceleration.

Attraction isn't acceleration. Acceleration comes from attraction.

Q: "What about satellites? How do they orbit the Earth?"

A1: They don't, satellite signals come from radio towers.

Ok, how do u guys explain when you see a satelite in the sky?

How do you explain shooting stars or the moon? Do you know how the Moon got up there in the first place?

The moon didn't get up there, it's a natural satellite.

Clap, clap.

Now, I want arguments.

If you don't answer, I'll consider that I'm right and that the Earth is spheric.

Ok here's an argument
You're a faggot

go to hell faggot.

You're just making the same mistake. You're being the idiot here. At least he has arguments and proofs. Let's have a real discussion here.

More like everyone is tired of your idiotic bullshit.
Seriously, everyone hates you, why are you still here? You obviously can't comprehend what this forum is about, even after having it explained to you.

Wtf is that supposed to mean? He has an opinion! He might me harsh about it, but you can't ask him to leave because he makes you cry at night.

I don't think that's a good argument.

Flat Earth Q&A / I have a couple of questions...

And you have to understand the FE-world:
FE'ers are allowed to just say 'Hum, maybe, hm, it could be like that...' to explain their theory.
When RE'ers say something it must be perfectly clear and proved without any doubt.

Wasn't I clear, and wasn't my proofs right, beyond any doubts? You guys can believe what you want, you can tell yourself "Hum, maybe, hm, it could be like that...". But if you do it, it doesn't prove the FE theory, it's just being blind to reality and facts. I'm not trying to convince you about the RE theory, I'm asking you to prove your point, I'm asking YOU to "say something that is perfectly clear and proved without any doubt".

You can believe what you want. I'm here to debate with facts, I want you to prove your theory. If you can't, if you keep saying "Hum, maybe, hm, it could be like that...", it's fine for you. But that means the FE theory can't be taken seriously. It can't be a scientific theory then.

The thing is, you're just giving me simple answers, but it doesn't work without proofs. You need to prove me how satellite cellphones, satellite radios and satellite televisions work, you can't just mention other possibilities.

And for the distance thing, how could they make the distance shorter? I've been in a plane during the flight, and it took about 8 hours to get there, wich means the distance was actually 6300 km, considering the fact that a plane goes to 800km/h.

You're trying to make me believe that all the governments would work together, hack computers and telescopes, fake all the photos, make plane flights faster or longer depending on the distance, pretend to go to space and make up bogus events only for benefits that aren't real, and all that is an EXCUSE? Spending billions of dollars only because they don't want us to know, because that would embarass them?

Same thing for the Eratosthenes theory, prove me with numbers and measures that he was wrong, I proved it, prove me your idea.

And how do you explain the fact that when you look at the sea and a boat is coming towards you, you see it appearing from the top to the bottom, slowly as it comes towards you?

Hey guys, I have a couple of questions regarding the FE theory. Sorry if I make any grammatical mistakes, I'm not really bilingual.

1. I've read some answers to the question "why would the governments make us believe the earth is flat? How do they benefit?", but I haven't found a valuable answer. It sounds like you guys are convinced the FE theory is true, and you're just trying to find excuses about the government.

2. If there are no satellites, how do satellite cellphones, radio and television work?

3. According to the FE map, the distance (for example) between the south tip of south america and the south tip of africa is bigger than the "regular" distance? I've once flew from Stanley to Cape Town, and the distance was about 6,300 km ( 3,900 miles ), wich is the distance on the round earth.

4. How do you explain the following measurement of the earth, by Eratosthenes, at around 200 B.C.?

Quote
Eratosthenes knew that on the summer solstice at local noon in the town of Syene on the Tropic of Cancer, the sun would appear at the zenith, directly overhead. He also knew, from measurement, that in his hometown of Alexandria, the angle of elevation of the Sun would be 7.2 south of the zenith at the same time. Assuming that Alexandria was due north of Syene he concluded that the distance from Alexandria to Syene must be 7.2/360 of the total circumference of the Earth. The distance between the cities was known from caravan travellings to be about 5000 stadia: approximately 800 km. He established a final value of 700 stadia per degree, which implies a circumference of 252,000 stadia. The exact size of the stadion he used is no longer known (the common Attic stadion was about 185 m), but it is generally believed that the circumference calculated by Eratosthenes corresponds to 39,690 km [citation needed]. The estimate is over 99% of the actual distance of 40,008 km.

thank you.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Australia doesn't exist
« on: December 27, 2006, 10:30:45 PM »
Hahah I can't believe we're actually debating about the existence of Australia. If it doesn't exist, then kangaroos and koalas don't exist either. And the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney was a bogus event.

Americans can be pretty fucked up.
