Flat Earth Q&A / Which Do You Believe?
« on: December 17, 2005, 04:44:07 AM »
This thread's purpose is simple. Do you believe it's round (This shape -->O) or flat (This shape --> ---)?

Flat Earth Q&A / A Few Questions

mr. pearson, the reason you have these questions is because deep down inside you (or it could be relitively close to the surface. you may just be a sheep in wolfs skin.) you actually believe the earth is round. just like eery other smart person in this forum. dont ask questions. yo dont really want to know the answers. if you are new to flat earth tribe, i suggest going back while you still have the chance. you only want o be a flat earther because you want to be different. this is not the way to go about it. if you really want to be different then start believing hat the world dosnt exist and come up with supid reasons why.
Exactly. I can respect having different ideas, since nobody agrees with mine (and they are very weird), but I don't respect having different ideas because you just want to be different from everybody else.

I somehow made it home today, despite the weather. This thread made me so curious that I brought chalk with me and marked '1/2', '1/4', '1/8', and so on.

I guess you stopped when you realised that you were moving less than an atom's diameter at a time . . .

I just figured out another classic paradox that I don't quite understand. I don't think it really describes what human nature provides in knowledge.

Basically, humans come up with the theory that all crows are black. We've seen millions of them, and they're all black. So the more we see a crow that IS black, the chances improve. And whenever we see something that isn't a crow and ISN'T black, our chances improve because we're more used to crows being black. So if we look at an apple, we observe it's red, not black. We also observe that it isn't a crow. So, by looking at that apple, mentally, our chances of crows being black improve. And that just doesn't work. I can look at this web page and it doesn't make me think emoticons are any more yellow.

Flat Earth Q&A / The conspiracy theory
« on: December 17, 2005, 04:14:34 AM »
That's idiotic. The government doesn't have any secret headquarters to hide. Otherwise Area 51 would've shut down by now, or even more likely, had never been discovered.
The government isn't trying to get people's money for themselves. They're not stupid.
They're not limiting technology AT ALL. They're actually making way too much technology.

There's no real reason why the government would spend trillions of dollars just to get everyone to think that the Earth is round.

Now it's time for you to quickly make up something to back your case up.

Flat Earth Q&A / Modern science tells us the earth is flat
« on: December 16, 2005, 02:25:17 PM »
Gee, I thought you couldn't use 'modern science', because it's from textbooks, and textbooks are lying to us! [/sarcasm]

I think some people don't and some do. Otherwise there would be no real Flat Earth Society.

Flat Earth Q&A / Problem With Gravity Theory
« on: December 16, 2005, 02:21:48 PM »
Here's a paradox for you. You say that the Earth is constantly rising very quickly, giving us the impression of gravity. Well, what if you lift a pillow, then lift an anvil? There's obviously difference in weight. But weight is caused by gravity, and since this is your substitute for gravity, they should weigh the same.

I somehow made it home today, despite the weather. This thread made me so curious that I brought chalk with me and marked '1/2', '1/4', '1/8', and so on.

That's just stupid. You can't just say "The Earth is round" and be right.

Flat Earth Q&A / Wall of Ice?
« on: December 16, 2005, 02:31:03 AM »
I'm slightly annoyed by this. I've never seen or heard of a one-hundred and fifty foot wall of ice. There's the North and South Poles, both of which have been explored. But there's no wall of ice, for many different reasons...

One reason is that the sun would at least once shine on it if the Earth was flat. Even though there's no way the sun could be dozens of miles away, it doesn't make any real difference.

Another reason is that 150 feet isn't at all enough. That's about the length of four busses. I've seen buildings all over the place bigger than that in the suburbs. There's no way it would hold all of the water in the world.

Flat Earth Q&A / The conspiracy theory
« on: December 16, 2005, 02:17:57 AM »
All I know is that, well, maybe... Not EVERY SINGLE SOURCE besides us is some stupid conspiracy. We can't use textbooks, they're lying to us. The government won't tell us the truth. We can't use anything except our eyes and our minds. And I, for one, DON'T AGREE. That's where I got my username.

(I love making up words.)

Flat Earth Q&A / Why is it important?
« on: December 15, 2005, 05:32:38 PM »
Quote from: "F Kid"
I would say it really only matters because humans are naturally argumentitive. If we arnt arguing or debeing as some would put it, we would be bored out of our minds. this site really just gives us something to do.
Exactly. It's human nature to disagree with people, and it's impossible to agree with what everybody says or does.

I know. Saddam Hussein also said that it was a lie. I can't imagine Hitler being a lie. What would the point be?

Flat Earth Q&A / Why the Earth isn't Flat

1.    For some reason they are diverted from the edge, how I still need to research that more thoroughly.

2.    We can dig for miles on a flat earth the bottom is just farther than the deepest hole we have dug

3.    Maybe someone did fall off and they are gone, and if someone has seen it they would come to a forum like this and be ridiculed if they told what they know and no one would believe them

4.     The Ice wall protects the ocean

5.     How do we know that TV is broadcast from satellites?

6.     The sun shines on certain locations at certain times

7    You would not be able to see Mt Everest. This is similar to how you cant see more than 100 feet in either direction on a hazy day and how your eyes cant see more than 100 miles.

1-2. You got me there.

3. Yeah, but it would be a part of common knowledge by now if people came off the edge.

4. I've never seen or heard about any 150 foot wall of ice.

5. If it wasn't, then there would never be satellite interferences by weather, and the government wouldn't bother spending millions of dollars on radio towers or satellite dishes.

6. The Sun is too far away to shine on certain locations. If it's only dozens of miles away like you say, it still would cover a huge amount of land at a time being as bright as it is.

7. See point on 1-2.

Flat Earth Q&A / Why I joined
« on: December 15, 2005, 04:47:43 AM »
I was watching a video about the Internet. It said that not all of the Internet agreed with others on some topics, such as the Earth's shape. That got me interested.

I got here by finding it on Wikipedia. I'm glad skeptics are welcome, because I support the round Earth theory.

Flat Earth Q&A / Why the Earth isn't Flat
« on: December 15, 2005, 04:44:25 AM »
1. If it was round, airplanes and ships wouldn't disappear UNDER the horizon.
2. We wouldn't be able to dig miles under the Earth.
3. Someone would've fallen off the edge or seen the edge by now.
4. Ocean would fall off the edge, and all of the oceans would dry up.
5. There would be no satellites and no TV; There would be no satellite interferences.
6. The sun would shine on the whole thing, or none at all.
7. I would see Mount Everest from here.

I still haven't seen any evidence to contradict any of these in the whole forum.
