2 remote controls and a mobile phone...

I'm in QLD, not NSW, but I know up here it's basically the same, I'm voting greens on everything unless I see damn good reason to trust either of the main parties

ok, I just got him to log on and show me what it said, and it said "spamming and troublemaking" but so far as I am aware he was never warned, I quote from the forum rules,

Quote
*Troublemaking
-Warning for the first offence, with a maximum ban of two weeks thereafter.

might I ask please why nightshade is on a 7 day ban?

The reasons for the ban should be stated.

He was not informed in any way as to what he did to deserve a 7 day ban with no warning

pagan is a religion, the word pagan is like the word christian
christian covers differing religions, and pagan covers different religions
but a catholic would count himself or herself a christian
as would an anglican, lutheran HELL even a seventh day adventist(or a six day atheist)
as to does druidism, nordic and wiccan religions fall under pagan

What? Christian denominations all share a common theme (God, Jesus his son). Those religions have next to nothing in common.

most of them are polytheistic, most of them involve spellcasting and/or rituals, but it's mostly used recently as an all inclusive term for non-christian religions.

AIDS

if we were to pass laws that would get rid of AIDS then hetros would be outlawed too, and lesbianism would be promoted (not like it isn't already) AIDS is as much of a risk to straight people as it is to gays

It's k, bro. This isn't the most serious thread.

I know, I wish it was though... we need moar trolls in this thread

that is a very christian point of view, it is only since the rise of christianity that the "pagan religions" have been grouped

So why be religious at all then?

I'm not christian, but I am religious, I'm pagan, and the pagan religion doesn't discriminate against gays

I can understand you argument for the existence of God - Something as complex as the Universe is evidence enough for intelligent design.

But my question is - There are hundreds of possible religions out there. How do you know yours is the correct one?

I don't, I follow it because it fits my views on life

But your views could be wrong, and then you'll go to hell.

I don't care... if the christians are right i'm about thrice damned, if not more

You don't care about eternal torture?

He probably doesn't care, just like most atheists don't care, because he's quite sure that Christian dogma is false.

It's not even that I am sure Christian dogma is false, and I'm not an atheist and not christian, it's that I know that if the Christians are right I am already damned for things that I can't change in myself, so I don't see the point of trying for their salvation

For me that is the point of Chritianity(I can't change myself very well). And I don't have to pay the eternal price for past wrongs.
God knows you are human, you will be weak in some areas of life, if not many or even all.
Jesus has paid the price for your salvation, I can't earn my salvation. I don't believe anyone can earn salvation. As it is a gift of God.

Listen at one time I was alcoholic, druggy. I sometimes would blackout, get in fights, black eyes, drunk driving arrest, locked up, all that fun stuff. I'm off all that stuff for about over 20 yrs with the Lord's help.
He will save you if you want.
The dogma seems corny, but it is this easy.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

I am not sure how to reply, every time I try to type something either I will think it's not true or a dozen other points will come to mind... first off I am a firm believer in my religion, and though there is no "end goal" like heaven or whatever, it suits me well.

As for "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved," that depends on the meaning of "believe," I believe he was a great man, I believe that he was a great healer, and I believe he had some good points of view, but I do not believe that he was an all powerful divine being that took on human form to save humanity.

Also, many of the Christian religions say that I am unable to be saved as I am gay, and I am not giving up a part of myself for the chance that Christianity is actually right.

The only purpose of marriage is to produce kids.  Infertile couples should not be allowed to marry as well.  They end-game goal of the human race is to populate so much that we choke out all other life, including bacteria and viruses (if you consider them life, lolz) and then live forever as the supreme beings on the planet.
I like that... explains society well

homosexauls are fags and bible

That doesn't sound like a reasoning

It's biblical reasoning.

"bible" is not a reason, specifics? I can tell you there are only about 6 verses that are against homosexuality and about 30 verses against heterosexuality (these numbers are the closest to the actual figures that I can remember, but I know that there's more against hetros than homos)

The Bible is very clear on the subject of homosexuality. There are about 6 verses to confirm this.

And there are more verses saying that heterosexuality is bad, so how is homosexuality "wrong" and heterosexuality "right"

I am not always right, but I am never wrong

Fixed.
Interestingly enough, that does fix it... I might actually put faith in that as so many others appear to, at least until I see evidence to the contrary

I can't quite understand why people say that it is wrong for any reason other than the fact that they would never do it themselves... can someone actually give some good reasons?

So longitudinal circumnavigation has occurred. The Earth is round. Any rebuttals, Flat Earthers, before we call this a Round Earth Victory?

No RE victory here, my real name is Lance Armstrong. Before I went to the moon, I sailed around the earth. It was flat sailing the whole way, no up or down any hills. If you don't believe me call Buzz Aldrin ,it was his sail boat that we sailed on.

Hoppy, do any of your (currently) 118 posts have any value? Choices:

A.) Yes
B.) No
C-Z.) <clumsy ad hominem retort further demonstrating my point>

        A.  Yes                    Most ,if not all have very high value.

I knew that would be said, why ask them to evaluate themselves?

27
Or something like Vaestland or some shit. Cuz you know, Vikings were there first.

History not your forte?

actually I wouldn't be surprised if vikings were EVERYWHERE first

28
Wait a sec... a noob skipped the 'OMG FLAT EARTH IS WRONG!!!!!!!!111!!!!!oneONE!!!!!' phase and went straight to P,R&S? I'm impressed.

I honestly don't care what shape anyone thinks the earth is, I know what I believe and anyone else's beliefs are their own business. The main reason I joined was because I figured I might find good debate

I already like this guy.  Stop giving him shit, people.
He apologised.  I think all is fair and even now.  Plus, I like this guy too.  He really should lurk moar.

I only don't "lurk moar" because I don't have time to sift through hundreds of pages of threads

It's because you doubted the almighty Gayer.

I only meant that "things are like this because I said so and I am never wrong" is not a very convincing argument (which I have just noticed sounds a lot like something my mother says...)

29
Ya, it is a fallacious technique to tell someone in a debate have to explain something like abiogenesis in its entirety because if they refuse, they come off as having a weak position, and if they accept and explain it all, they appear long winded.

It is like asking a loaded question.

"Have you stopped supporting necrophilia yet?

my teacher's example when I was learning about fallacies was "have you stopped beating your wife?"

I've mentioned why I came here, I was interested in the fact that there were people who still believe in a flat earth, and thought I would come here to learn and maybe have a good debate or two
