I went to a school where the headmaster (not the school) was Christian.

In assembly he used to get us to sing hymns and pray even though some of us where not Christian. Thinking about it as a grown up now it annoys me a little bit.

Mum, girl friend and two sisters, all hard to buy for.

Clothes are a no no (I can guarantee I'll get it wrong, I've been moaned at many many times)

Perfume (same reason as above)

Jewelry (see above)

Things for hobbies (They don't have any. I bought an easel for my girl friend a few years ago, it's still in the loft unused)

Asking other girls for advice (I did this once and bought some smelly bath things. They've never been used and I got moaned at)

Asking what they want and trying to get some hints from them (They don't even know what they want so how the hell should I know?)

Seriously it's a bloody nightmare

Girlfriend - Take her somewhere romantic. that's investing both your time and money.
Sisters - Send them to me.
Mother-  Send her to Markjo.

A very merry christmas will be had by all.

My sisters and mum would eat you both alive. You wouldn't have a chance.

Some people should stop being scrooges!!

My gf isn't that hard to buy for, I don't get an ear full if it's not quite right. My Mum on the other hand is a nightmare.

Buying a dvd tv series thing was a good idea. I think I might buy my mum a true ghost stories dvd, she likes that kind of stuff, but I know what she'll say "What did you get me that for, I can see it on TV when it comes out!"

Get them all gift cards.

I've done this, got moaned at for not putting the effort in and for not giving them money instead.

I can't remember who said it but I keep thinking about this quote when I see this thread.

I have a computer. No Internet @ home. That makes a response on Thanksgiving a bit difficult. I shall attempt to control my double posts, by restricting them to 2 or 3 rather than 5. A couple of those were short, & could have been contained.

Can you not just edit and add to your posts?

I carry a firearm almost always.  I have never shot anyone, nor has my firearm.

I do carry a knife, but I don't count on it to protect my life when I can carry a firearm instead.

You sound like the whiny ass liberals that you claim not to be.

Letting every Tom, Dick or Harry carry a gun around is not a safe environment for my family to be in. They're safer if these people didn't carry a gun.

I don't want them to be stuck in the middle of a firefight between idiots thinking they're defending themselves when in reality they're probably shoting each other by accident.

PS: I am not going to the casting call.

Why?

What have you got to lose?
A lot of time and possibly my dignity. My local news channel said they were turning away anyone outside of the age ranges, but I really doubt that's true. On the website they never specifically say the person has to be the age of the character. But if it is true that's an even bigger reason not to go.

But the reason to go out ways all of that.

You might look like a prat in front of some people you're likely to never meet again. It's really not that big a deal.

I'm discovering that I kinda dislike extreme liberals. They're all emotion with no logic sometimes. It can be very aggravating.

Same, their superior attitude really annoys me sometimes. They also don't seem to realise the practicalities of their argument half the time.

Being insecure or angry towards a gay guy could be a sign that you're afraid of being gay yourself.
I'm pretty comfortable with myself. I am what I am. Its not perfect but I know my own mind. If I was gay, I'd just be gay. I wouldn't hide it. I don't think I know a single person who would actually give a crap. My family would be fine. My friends wouldn't care. My boss wouldn't care. We have a gay guy in the office who lives with his boyfriend. No one at work cares.

One of my best friends is gay. He hits on me for fun, but its not awkward because its not ambiguous. We both know the score. I feel sorry for him because he hasn't had a boyfriend in ages. He's a really nice guy. But I don't want to think about what he'd get up to. Its ok not to like what gays do. I joke with him that he's sick and suggest cures for him all the time. He jokes back that I'm only ever 4 pints away from sleeping with him. But he's allowed to. He's my friend. He's not a stranger in a bar. He doesn't try to ogle my dick. He doesn't keep trying to put his hands on me or get touchy feely. And he is really funny. We have a similar dry sense of humour.

He's one of only about 3 people who stayed my friend when I became ill and spent 3 years in my bedroom. I didn't see him much (he lived in Dubai during that time anyway), but he waited it out until I felt well. No one else did.

Do I like homosexuality? No. Am I homophobic? Nope. Its not the same thing.

People around you not caring if you're gay or not doesn't matter. You having a gay friend also doesn't matter.

It's how you feel insecure about being chatted up by a gay guy. If it were an 18 year old women chatting you up, instead of a bloke, would you have reacted differently?

I've been chatted up by some gay blokes, each time I've told them I'm not gay. I've not been an arse to them.

Gay guys get on my nerves. The other day I was sat in a bar and some 18 year old woofter came up to me and asked "how old are you?". I said "Its none of your fucking business." He huffed, pushed out his bottom lip, screwed up his face in disappointment and walked away.

I don't need that. I just want to be left alone. In front of my friends and work colleagues. Thanks for hitting on me gay child.  >:(

And I go to the gym and pool a lot. Communal showers and changing rooms. Gay guys are always staring at my cock. Or my arse if I turn to stop them staring at my cock.

I would prefer it to be illegal and for gays to live in fear as opposed to them flaunting their lifestyles at the expense of normal society. And the whole camp voice, mincing with hand on hip, calling everyone sugar, honey, darling etc with that annoying nasally voice that many acquire is so mind-bendingly irritating.

I have tried to find the origin of that voice. The first guy to use it in public. But I've failed.

Being insecure or angry towards a gay guy could be a sign that you're afraid of being gay yourself.

I hate to say this but extinctions will continue to happen (human influenced or not). It's part of evolution I'm afraid, in some cases I think we're fighting a losing battle.

Why do Americans like ugly cars?

It's ugly, impracticable and expensive. It's probably unreliable as well.

Buy a proper car.

iwanttobelieve is not an American.

I was referring to the original post not iwanttobelieve.

If not, google it. I'm not going to spoil anything except that I fangasmed.

It was alright but I thought those old witches were a bit daft.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Remembrance Day
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:02:45 AM »
One of the worst things about Remembrance day is the jingoistic poetry of Kipling, Chesterton et al. The First World War was a tragedy, not a heroic struggle for freedom. That we need the poppy appeal to look after our veterans is a damning criticism of our government's collective failure to look after those they asked (or forced) to serve.

I hold the two minute's silence not with pride but terrible shame that we're still prone to cause obscene pain and suffering to one another. So I remember the poor Brits dying in stinking holes in the french countryside, and I also remember the poor German boys also killed pointlessly.

Never Forget. Never Repeat.

Unfortunately wars are a necessary evil in today's world, I wish it wasn't. The video I posted gave the reason why.

Remembrance day isn't about 'celebrating' or remembering war. It's about remembering those who have died in war. When I undertook the 2 minute silence I was thinking about the loss of life on both sides not just our own, because it was so tragic.

I don't disagree with you about the government not doing enough for veterans but I don't see why I should give up on remembrance day because of that.

I thought that was the purpose of remembrance day.
