Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Antimoon?!?!?!
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:28:33 PM »
c: You're entirely right

In a world where 1 + 1 equals 1 but bigger. Where satellites cannot sustain orbit, but apparently a moon does just fine, When the world is flat, and the water is held in by a giant wall of ice and land, anything is possible! You cannot disprove the basis for a nice sci-fi novel! No, you use crappy 1800's books and such. When confronted with a real question you ignore it and dodge to some typo the one asking made!

Science is a sham! The world is flat and there is nothing we can do about it! Its all a conspiracy!

...

I still wanna know about my stars...

 :P

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Antimoon?!?!?!
« on: April 27, 2010, 10:26:10 AM »
I don't know, I've looked at the moon through a telescope and there seems to appear that there is a  shadow on its surface. So if there is an anti-moon that's a flat circle in shape, why is it that when you look at the moon, it doesn't look like there is anything blocking out the stars as two overlapping circles would show? How come it looks like a shadow when I look at it through my telescope. If it's a shadow, and the stars where this anti-moon would be hanging off the real moon do not disappear. I have come to the conclusion based on the scientific method, that it is a shadow. Here is my study:

1 - Ask a question
     Is there an Anti-Moon?

2 - Do the research.
There is apparently a 'documented' case where stars disappear from the sky according to this forum. I cannot find any information outside of here, although that does not necessarily mean that it does not exist.

3 - Form a  Hypothesis.
I want to try and prove the existence of another celestial body between Earth and the Moon. I believe there is not one, but will try to disprove this belief.

4 - Test this hypothesis.
When I observe the moon at night through a telescope, It appears to me that the moon has a shadow cast on it not unlike shining a flashlight on a beach ball, with a smaller beach ball behind it. If the ball is off-center, the light that is not blocked by the first ball will be cast onto the smaller ball, revealing the shadow of what would seem like a 'crescent'. This shadow would explain why the stars next to the moon do not also disappear. If the existence of an ''anti-moon" was true, I conclude that it would be visible in regions blotting stars out, and during a full moon said object would be observable through a telescopic lens. The stars would also be blotted out by this solid object that has enough mass to cut the light from 'mother moon'. Not on a "Oh, there have been reported cases of this" level, but on a constant, irrefutable level. I also observed that in the shaded regions of the moon, the craters are identical and viable to the eye. This phenomena can only be explained by a shadow. Furthermore. I must ask how either the moon or the anti-moon are suspended over us, because according to this place, any orbit is impossible.

5 - Analyze Data
In my observations, I found that the stars near the dark side of the moon were completely visible. This concludes without a doubt that if there were an object there with mass enough to block the light from reaching earth so that we would see it as a 'crescent', than it would have blocked out the stars near the dark side also.

6 - Report Results
The results of my study can be reproduced by anyone who has a telescope and an open mind to the truth. I came to the conclusion that if there was a celestial body large enough to block out the light reflected from the sun (Or radiated from 'mother moon') than it would also be powerful enough to, on a rather constant basis, block out the stars. If this is not true, and I cannot locate any object in the sky matching the description of the Anti-Moon, I must conclude that it does not exist. The dark parts of the moon must be created by a shadow, not by another object. Furthermore, I would have to ask that if it is another object, than why is it that in my results, I see the craters of the moon still in the shaded portions. These craters are the same as when the moon is full.

There... For all of you wondering how the scientific method works. Please refer to this study. Your anti-moon has been debunked by science. Not only can this study be made, but it can be reproduced without getting a different result. That, in the realm of science, is proven to be a fact. Please, report your findings as I have if you wish to contest me. For all of you looking for a visual representation of this scientific method, please refer here so you can even get the pretty colors too...

http://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentoring/project_scientific_method.shtml

You cannot combat hard, physical evidence that anyone with a telescope can observe on a clear night. Don't try to disprove this with "Conspiracy!" "Kill the non-believer!" or any of that crap. Anyone with an eye, and an open mind can go out and see this to be true. If it is not, please explain to me in great detail why it is the way you believe it.

;D Convert Me! ;D

Ooooh, Pwnt by the noob!

Good day...

You bring up a good point, but I was merely giving him/her a way out to step back with her/his dignity. If he/she had laid the irrelevant conversation to rest, then she/he would not have been caught up in her/his own lie.

Thank you!

We don't want a mathematical equation. Because you can come up with any mathematical equation you want to try and disprove anything and everything. Your 1+1+more oneness theory simply states you can bend nearly any logical chain of events to your own will. No more math, We the Round Earthers demand you use a proven method to get factual, undeniable results for us to look at and say "Huh... Maybe they got' something here." Because guess what, until you pull away from your theory and run your own tests, You aren't going to change a single one of us... Become scientists, not Theorists. Then maybe we'll listen.

Please, For the love of God and your flat earth....

;D Convert Me  ;D

I'm still 'thinking' that these people are just going to start ignoring me because I ask logical questions and demand they don't yell the convenient "Conspiracy" and "1+1=Bigger One".

With all respect, John Davis, On all the other threads I've been seeing you post on I'd like to see you back yours up with some evidence too. Your claims, theories, but guess what... Maybe these little ideas work well in your own heads but in the real world, the scientific method is what gets peoples attention. Go out, prove your own outlandish claims with said method in real life, and get back to us with your findings. Until then, don't ask for "Mathematical evidence", I'll ask for that "Scientific Method" thing that everyone's raving  about. Please, Disprove him without a shadow of a doubt.

He just proved that those 'field lines' from FET would make a compass point directly up. Now, please be so kind as to explain your own theory with the same type of enthusiasm and undeniable proof please. And don't rely on "This will happen because I said so" because that doesn't fly anymore.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method
http://teacher.nsrl.rochester.edu/phy_labs/AppendixE/AppendixE.html

Now, When you children here who believe in your FET can reproduce your own findings with the scientific method, perhaps a scientist in the world would take you seriously... Maybe. As I said previously, it doesn't take a multi-million dollar trip to prove your findings that you cling to as "true".

Now, Quit claiming that you all are right and show us your facts. This is not how a scientific debate should go, this will get you laughed at in the eyes of the scientific community. You need proof, you need evidence, not theory. You need something that can be implemented in the real world and be tested over and over again to be true. "It'll point along the lines FET provides" does not cut it. Yeah, its a pretty little belief, but when it comes down to it, that's all it is unless you can show me hard evidence that that's how your lines work.

This is the kind of proof I've been asking for so far on my posts!

Now, I would absolutely adore it if the Flat-Earthers had a model like this. One that makes sense, with logical explanations that everyone can understand. Remember my other post children, apparently the RE side has the whole scientific method down, your turn...

Bravo Ellipsis...

If I had to guess a reaction though... It'd be "Conspiracy!" or "Ha ha ha, that's not true! Because 1 + 1 = the oneness of one! hahaha."

I apologize for my growing harshness towards your community. Please, Again, Prove yourselves right.

Now, I'm waiting for your response. I'll give you a long time to 'think about it'. If you'll agree again to end this new argument and not start a new one, Fine. But for the love of your flat earth don't lie to my face when the proof against your own claims is only a few scrolls away. Or is that a conspiracy too?

Scroll up, Please.

You did say that, twice if I'm not mistaken. And im not going to play the game of someone who is so untruthful. You turned yourself in on this one by saying that. Please, Refer to your own previous post. Besides, isn't this exactly what you are trying to get me to 'think about'?

In other words, you're trying to buy time to make up a good response... Wonderful... Please, Be open minded here  :) That's all I ask. Everything you have said is 'set in stone'. Everything is as it appears to be, Well, It appears that kids get presents on Christmas. Therefore, if everything is as it appears to be, Santa must be real too.

Do you have the authority to speak for your society? Or are you going to hold to your own hypocritical beliefs. You tell me that everything is as it appears to be, well, it appears to me that Round Earth has far more evidence than Flat Earth has. So is that true also?

Again, I say this entire society is based on thinking outside the box, outside the mainstream. Which would be directly contradicting your own "Everything is as it appears to be" theory. So, In reality, by textbook definition are you not being a hypocrite?

I look forward to your response, although its predictable at this point.

So... Answer this. If things "Always appear as they seem" doesn't that contradict your entire society as a whole? Is this place not built on the idea that there is a possibility that the earth is flat, therefore it is not how it would seem to the mass population? To me, your validity in your own subject matter is failing.

To me, the idea of a flat earth would be you all asking me not to take what science has proven as evidence, therefore you are asking me to look outside the box, and saying that "Things that appear true, may not be".

On another note, I call troll. After one dispute is pushed aside, you dig for another to begin.

14
OMG, it all makes sense now!

Seriously, If only a select few of your members can speak for your entire society, I'd enjoy hearing the explanation for this from them. A logical one, please. The more I become active here, the more I believe that logic is out the window when it comes to arguments like this. I asked a question that another before me asked, expecting a decent answer.

Who are you to say that their morals are any better than your own? Who's to say the statistics aren't more in the favor of those who would not be? Anything is possible, and I would ask you to be more open-minded to the possibilities. Please, accept my 'truce' and lets move on to more pressing matters, like how the world is flat. This back-and-forth argument has gone on long enough.

You as a flat-earth theorist should know better than others things may not appear as they seem. That is what this society is based on, is it not?

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: The Sea and The Horizon
« on: April 26, 2010, 07:25:49 PM »
It seems generally accepted that light is bent by gravity to its own degree. Even in the RE theory and Astronomy. But, not to this degree. The light has to be near a mass as large as, perhaps the sun. Something with enough gravitational pull to cause light to be bent. It has been proven astronomically by science that stars on the other side of our own sun can be seen using special equipment. But, that's just a conspiracy, just like all of astronomy is apparently. The Hubble does not exist, nor does deep field photographs.

I generally accept what I can see with my own eyes. And I'd like to have other planets and celestial bodies explained in more depth than 'It's just what God put here for us to have something pretty to look at...'

Honestly, As previously stated, I am an open mind to the facts, and the facts are not adding up in their favor.

But I still maintain that what you said before is false, and you just agreed with me by saying that they are 'more likely' to instead of, without a shadow of a doubt, saying yes. So I am making some form of progress in this. We have gone to "Everyone has a price", on to "Only if you're communist", to "More likely".

My offer still stands  :) -holds my hand out for you to take- Agree to disagree? Or need I continue this debate.

I propose that we agree to disagree on that one. This conversation does not need to go any further than it has c: Besides, we need not be hostile towards each other simply due to different view points eh?

However I can continue this if you'd like, merely offering the flag of peaceful resolution.  ;D

You all are really quite entertaining in your own light. I said several times on here that I could be swayed by your thoughts if you brought me proof, but I'm leaning further and further away from you the more I read your replies here. Recruit me dammit.

Anyways, as you were trying to bring a conflict up out of nothing, I have no choice but to continue.

Please keep personal attacks to a minimum, as I have yet to attack any one individual. Now... If I were to say my belief was in the truth, and that I try to avoid lying. I am human, therefore it happens, but would that not be being asked to sway my belief for cash?

I never specified that my belief was in the flat earth theory on that specific post you commented on. My integrity is not in question here either, I was merely saying that  it is unfair to say that everyone does have a price. You're saying that there is not a single person on your flat earth that would prefer their integrity to cash?

That's your view on humanity, Others may not agree. There are people out there that would not be swayed by cash for their beliefs. Because in the end, aren't our beliefs and memories all we have?

Your opinion is your own here  ;) A lot of people have a price, but I believe that it is unfair to say that everyone does.

It's not hypocrisy if you're doing something you believe in. If I believed in this theory, I wouldn't take money to be swayed. But guess what, I don't. Hypocrisy is doing one thing, and saying another. This is not the case in a hypothetical question. Quit attacking and grabbing at straws that do not exist please  :)

If I were to tell you not to smoke and light up a cigarette in your face, I'm a hypocrite.

If I were to believe in this theory and not be swayed for cash, I am not.

Flat Earth Q&A / The Sea and The Horizon
« on: April 26, 2010, 05:00:36 PM »
This has been bugging me while reading some of this stuff from the site. So, as a curious mind I'd have to inquire: Why is it that when I watch a ship sail out to open sea on a flat, calm day it seems to 'fall' down under the horizon. If the earth were flat, wouldn't it just fade away as the distance between myself and the boat grew? And please, don't de-rail onto a random off-topic thing. Convince me with scientific evidence that the earth is flat, by explaining this.

Q: Why do objects on a calm sea appear to slowly drift under the water until you cannot see them as they go directly away from you, and not fade off as though it were simply getting further and further away.

Please, Preferably from the moderator of the site so that I know its from a source speaking for your entire view. If I can tell correctly, a flat sea would not allow a ship to appear to 'sink' at a distance, indefinitely. This has been proven and proven time and time again to be a true constant, by not only scientific researchers, but anyone who wants to watch a ship sail away. If you want proof, go out and watch it yourself. If I were to post a picture, you'd claim conspiracy and photoshop instantly.

And if anyone says "Magic" or "Its a conspiracy!" they lose 1 faith in humanity point  :P

Let's stop picking apart typos in someone's text. We all do it, everyone who types is able to be accused of a typo at one point or another. Humans make mistakes, so lets just cool it and let this legitimate question be answered.
