Flat Earth General / Re: No sense of scale
« on: March 08, 2011, 09:07:39 PM »
See, the problem with accusing people who believe in the earth being flat as having no sense of scale is that you attempt to portray yourself as superior to those people you are accusing. It is somewhat offensive that you consider all people who lack a sense of scale as believers in either the flat or science fiction. That bothers me, and when things bother me I usually tell people that it bothers me and I would like them to stop bothering me. In this specific instance I shall elaborate by explaining why people who believe in a round earth are also lacking a sense of scale. You see a round earth would be larger than a flat earth because of the greater amount of surface area and internal volume. That would make it harder to comprehend as a physical object and therefore more difficult to conceptualize as a thing. From this information one can conclude that a round earth is a more difficult thing to believe in and is therefore, due to the use of Occam's Razor, probably not as likely or possible as the flat earth.

So please, in the future, be polite when disagreeing with others.

Thank you.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Flat Earth not a theory

Have you personally tested this?

Anyone living in the Southern Hemisphere does this daily.

It's not the southern hemisphere, it's the lower left quadrant of earth. I believe we should keep FET and just change the T from Theory to Truth.

Flat Earth isn't a belief. You are misunderstanding how belief works. We don't BELIEVE the Earth is flat, it is a fact that we are aware of. Comparing flat earth to belief is like comparing atheism to dead people, it just doesn't make any sense. Also, you are not allowed to mock others for their personal beliefs. Those are personal.

Flat Earth General / Re: Question to FE's

This topic is an absurd attack on a legitimate belief system. No random chick would be interested in whether or not the earth is flat, even though if she was as hot as you claim, she would know the obvious truth that it is. I think you should take your trolling elsewhere, Catchpa.

Actually all of the information holds up to scrutiny, so if is trying to mock, is doing a very poor job at mocking, since is merely organizing FET into one easy place for people to find and learn from.

People have crossed multiple paths from coast to coast of Antarctica, you can sail AROUND Antarctica, not INSIDE it.
I'm pretty sure people would have worked out that they were sailing around in a massive lake.

I don't see how people think that because it's a coldass place to be, that it somehow hides a giant mystery.

It's no different to any other continent.

Well Flyingmonkey, I believe the reason that some people think that Antarctica holds a mystery is because it is thoroughly unexplored. The sheer size of the continent, combined with the ice covering most of Antarctica's caverns and caves make Antarctica a likely spot for some hidden discovery, and the terrible weather makes Antarctica difficult to explore safely.

While the pictures that Levee posted of the Black Sun help support the ice wall argument, I think that Antarctica is in fact the ice wall itself, which helps explain some of the confusion. Obvious if RET's are stating two options, neither of which is correct than RET's would be confused as to which is correct, as neither would be correct.

Flat Earth General / Re: Proof we landed on the moon

Actually I am pretty sure that humans landed on the moon, but that doesn't disprove FET. If people would look at this picture, taken from the moon:, the people will see that the earth is indeed two-dimensional and quite flat. Now the earth doesn't look quite right, but I think that is mostly from the radioactive interference from the uranium buried in the moon's crust screwing with the camera equipment and messing up the cosmetic appearance of earth. But the physical dimensions of the earth are quite flat as that picture most definitively proves.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Is mars flat, too?
« on: February 22, 2010, 10:58:07 AM »
Actually I am pretty sure that only earth is flat, as it is the center of the universe. Because it is what everything rotates around, the centrifugal force of all that rotation forces the shape of the earth to be flat and as you go out, less solar wind is exerted on the other celestial objects and they can become gradually more spherical, with things on the edges of the universe almost a perfect globe.
