Flat Earth General / Re: A Bedford Levels Experiment for the 21st Century
« on: December 31, 2011, 05:07:45 PM »
Using a device like this one, http://www.keyence.com/products/sensors/laser/lvh62/lvh62.php , or something similar, simply recreate Rowbotham's experiment to see if similar results are produced using a modern laser measuring device.

How? That thing shines a maximum of 7 meters. ::)

Perhaps what you want is a laser rangefinder. Unfortunately, Tom Bishop has conclusively demonstrated that laser ranging technology is a NASA fraud, since it was used to prove we've been to the moon. :)

Flat Earth General / Re: Gravity, UA, and why they can't get along.
« on: December 31, 2011, 05:03:18 PM »
Pardon me if I'm inserting myself into the conversation here, but about the two frames of references...

From an observer that is accelerating upwards, being pushed by a flat Earth, time will always appear to move forward at normal speed.  It's only from the outside that general relativity would make them never hit the speed of light.  What you FEers don't seem to realize is this model would limit the existence of the Earth to about a year.

So, if the speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s then after 30,591,067.1 seconds, or 0.969393125 years, (a year, basically) you will have hit the speed of light.  Besides asking where the infinite energy required to reach that speed comes from, you must know that if the Earth acceleration theory for gravity were true, after a little less than a year an infinite amount of time would pass on the outside, which breaks the universe.

So, if no one was here on Earth to observe it accelerating on the inside, the theory would be valid, since no one would ever survive an infinite amount of time to see it reach the speed of light.  But since we are here watching this theoretical disk accelerate, the fact that the planet has been around for millions of years, and humans have observed it for thousands, and that we ourselves have existed for more than a year, disproves the acceleration theory altogether.  Does this make sense?

You flat Earthers need to come up with another explanation if I am right.

Or are you people really this stupid?

I just came back after a while just now and saw this thread. Yes, they are.  They think the entire laws of physics of the universe are built around the premise of hiding the fact the earth is flat.

Or are you people really this stupid?

It's both.

Yep.

The fact that you can't come up with a good argument for RET and you can't refute ours doesn't make us stupid.

I don't know if you're a troll or not (there's a lot of them here) but... You people in general are the most ignorant idiot fools I've ever met.  We've explained at least 20 or thirty proofs in many different threads (like the gyroscope one) and you just shout "CONSPIRACY IS THE ONLY ANSWER!".  How could NASA make a profit out of pretending the earth is round?

This is my face everytime I browse the Flat Earth Society Forums.

I made that gif myself :D pretty legit.  Also, the flat earthers' face is the guy who's staring at Mr. Laugh.

Flat Earth General / Why doesn't the FES fund a trip to the South Pole?
« on: December 31, 2010, 12:25:41 PM »
The Flat Earth Society should go to Antarctica themselves.  They should fund a mission to go to Antarctica in the form of either a serious trip or one of those Antarctica cruises.  When they get there they should document the whole thing.  They could show what they see down there and find out for themselves whether the ice wall exists or not.

Thoughts?

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: FE and Formulas
« on: September 07, 2010, 03:46:51 PM »
Because FE doesn't work.  You can create as many excuses as you want for all of the phenomena that coincidentally all seem to show that the Earth is round, but like a broken puzzle, they won't fit together.  Whenever you try to sole the puzzle it doesn't work.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: I'll test bendy light theory
« on: September 07, 2010, 03:44:11 PM »
Either way, any user who has been on this forum for a while have seen threads where the REers have a good point and the FEers refuse to respond for a while, and once they do, their arguments are even worse than usual.  I've seen a bunch, but there was one not long ago dealing with a personal experiment someone did.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: I'll test bendy light theory
« on: September 07, 2010, 03:01:31 PM »
REers have won.  And look what you do:  When all of your imaginary science fails you ignore the evidence of your failures.  You let the thread die because you couldn't fight back.  How can you go on in believing such lies when threads like these where the REers have won pass by so often?

You can make an alternative explanation for each phenomenon that happens like puzzle pieces, but they'll never fit together.  You can't take your ideas and combine them to make a model.  That's why you've never had a solid model:  You can't create one with your ideas.  There will always be problems and inconsistencies with what we observe on the Earth.

Yet you stick to your beliefs like glue.

And when we try to pull you off you give us stupid arguments that don't make sense!  You continue on and on, derailing the argument to pointless things unrelated to a flat Earth...

Flat Earth Q&A / Problems with the topography of a flat Earth
« on: September 07, 2010, 02:24:09 PM »
Consider this image:

Now, although the fractals of the shapes of coastlines are almost impossible to describe with words, any human can clearly tell that as you get closer and closer to the 'edge' of the world,  the shape of the land masses and their coastlines becomes distorted; stretched around the rim like elastic, compared to the rest of the world.

And even if you somehow couldn't recognize that:
Just look at Australia.  Wouldn't the population of Australia eventually realize that for some reason Australia is three times wider than what their maps show?

Wouldn't ships in the southern hemisphere realize their trip came to be several times longer than what it should have been?

I could keep going on and on with examples...
How is this possible?

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Wiki Critique: Equivalence principle (sic)
« on: September 07, 2010, 02:05:45 PM »
According to FET, tides are provoked by the tilting of the disc of the world.
But even that can't be right because the Earth would have to bend in places; tides don't appear in their correct locations when described in that kind of model.

Side note:

The islands seem too coincidental.  Could this just be an old, inaccurate map, or could the region we know as California changed since back when this map was made?

Flat Earth Debate / Re: The Moon does not appear flat

How can the Moon be flat when the shadows come from varying angles depending on where the light-blocking objects are on the Moon?

Flat Earth Q&A / FE and Formulas
« on: September 06, 2010, 02:36:16 PM »
Although apparently the Earth was made with all sorts of crazy rules that make the Earth appear round in every single possible way even though it's flat, at least REers have formulas for everything; every single subject of the physics of a round Earth you could think of.  They all work in real life, even if the Earth is really flat, but built to look round.  My question is: (BEFORE YOU PUT THIS IS Q/A, LET ME TELL YOU THIS QUESTION IS TO SPARK DEBATE, NOT FOR A DIRECT ANSWER)  Where are the formulas for a round Earth?  What are the equations for the paths of bendy light?  The locations of the Sun and the Moon relative to the Earth at any point in time?  Things such as that.  How can you prove them if you have no solid equations to back you up?  Where are your numbers?

Look at the end of the video; you can see a non biased view of how strong the fish-eye effect is.  Then compare that to the appearance of the curvature of the earth at the beginning.  There is no way that it could be the lens.  There is no way that this couldn't prove the world is round.  And if you retreat to 'Teh goverment did it!11!', you should be ashamed.

Youtube uploads almost instantly.  This recorded skydive was a personal endeavor not at all managed by the government.  There's no way the government could intervene in time.  Besides, it would take at least a day to convincingly edit it.  And what about the other ten thousand videos or so from high up that got uploaded almost instantly?  There is NO WAY at all for the government at all to edit all of those, or even find them, thanks to the fact that like a hundred videos a second are uploaded!

Flat Earth Debate / Re: How Evolution Proves a Flat Earth
« on: July 07, 2010, 08:14:40 PM »
Okay sure.  Here's what I don't get:
He states that flying N/S is more efficient than flying around the edge of the disk, so since birds fly N/S, the Earth is flat.  But doesn't E/W not matter at all, because birds are only trying to get to higher or lower latitudes anyway?  Shouldn't going directly N/S be most efficient in both models?
I hope I explained myself well...

Flat Earth Q&A / General relativity question
« on: May 24, 2010, 12:15:15 PM »
According to general relativity, time slows down as you approach the speed of light.  The explanation for the Earth in FET accelerating relies on this.  The Earth is (supposedly) constantly accelerating, but since time slows down, we never get there.

But wouldn't that be to an outside observer?  To us, time is constant, and we are accelerating with the Earth.  Doesn't that mean that to an outside observer, it would take an infinite amount of their time to reach the speed of light, but to someone that is accelerating as well would experience the acceleration at a constant rate, thus reaching the speed of light anyways, while for everything else an infinite amount of time passes, which is impossible?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, (I probably am) but this is how I understand it right now.  I didn't explain this very well...

Also, use Firefox. Even if the images don't work, it displays the alternate text as a link and not just a blank image.

Not in some browsers.   :(

When I goto the URL of the reply image, (http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/Themes/SoftMC_Blue/images/english_british-utf8/reply.gif)

I get a 404:

Set your language to US English. The "English" option directly above "Spanish".

Here`s the URL to my "Reply" button:

I LOVE YOU!  Not really.  But thanks so much helping me get the images to work!  There's three English options, and two have the same name...  Very confusing.

Excuse me, I think you misunderstood. I dont accept the "Round Earth" "Theory". I once hiked up a 5000ft mountain and could not see any curvature. So, obviously the earth is flat. I've never been in an airplane, but I know several people who have and NONE of them say they can see any curvature. Again, proof the earth is flat.

Trolls aren't real either...

You're kidding right?
You and others here are living in the dark ages, time to grow up and accept reality.
By the way, flying in a plane at 30 000ft the earth's curvature is obvious

The flat people believe light bends to make it look round.

Read previous posts; I and many others have disproven bendy light.  Thermal beat me to it though; I had independently discovered proof later.  Parsifal is the only one left who uses bendy light to debate, and he isn't even a FE'er.  He's just a RE'er pretending to be one.  He's not a troll though because he does real bating and isn't a jerk.  (Well, he is sometimes, but not as bad and as frequently as trolls.  =D)

At least it's made me memorize which button is which:

Many of the forum images of this type (except for the options image) are broken, at least on my browser.  They weren't a week ago.  Anyone else experiencing this?
