I've heard of it.  There's a few different ways of looking at it.

Running for president as some guy has an interesting weakness.  If you win you need to form an administration which means knowing a lot of people with an obscure skillset.  The RNC and DNC have access to these people.  If you're just some guy then you probably don't know enough of these people to form an administration.  You have to rely on one of the existing two parties.  This has a tendency to hamstring any agenda you have which doesn't align with either party well.

There's the "oh my god, fascism!" angle.  It is a valid concern here.  Maybe a bigger problem is packing the administrative state with people who couldn't run a government even if they wanted to.  They're looking for loyalty over competence.

The people were largely insulated from all the stupid nonsense did during Trump's first term.  If Trump wins a second term I think we're going to feel it.  I think a lot government related services are just going to stop functioning effectively.
There is a very distinct difference between what you are saying here and the plan for Project 2025 though.  That is the Schedule F reclassification for federal employees.  This reclassifies employees who have any part of their job touching policies into a new schedule of employee who can be fired at will and replaced.  It's standard for the upper management of agencies to be replaced by the president, and by extension be people picked out by the respective parties because one person doesn't have enough broad expertise to make determinations of who is fit for vastly different positions (who to lead agencies related to health vs energy vs education, etc.)  It is not standard for the employees who do the day-to-day operations to be open to being replaced by the president which a lot of those day-to-day people would be open to replacement under schedule F.

In possible future news, I'm curious how Project 2025, www.project2025.org, hasn't been widely covered yet.  It looks to be a roadmap to replace a large swathe of federal employees with Trump loyalists, virtually anyone who has any part in department policies would be open to replacement.  It's spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation and virtually every conservative think tank out there has their fingers in this plan.  It's staffing 20% or more of the government with people who think the government shouldn't even be doing the job.

The Trump campaign has publicly said they aren't on board with Project 2025, but their own roadmap sounds a lot like it but who copied whom is up for debate.

Trump isn't going to pick someone for VP that is going to threaten his celebrity status.  Someone like Nikki Haley, Chris Christi, or some other prominent yet low profile Republican will likely be his pick.  Someone who will defend him vigorously but won't take away the limelight by trying to elevate their own status, something MTG and DeSantis would definitely do.  Also, the 25th amendment would require the VP and the Cabinet to remove Trump, which won't happen.  What's more likely to happen if Trump wins and is also sentenced to prison, is that we will finally find out whether a president is able to issue a pardon to themselves.  The governor of Georgia will also issue a pardon to Trump if he is convicted on charges there.

Didn’t Trump have one of those scams too?  Long before all this crap?

You have to be more specific.
Maybe he is thinking about Trump University like SCG said?  It could have also been Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines, Trump Vodka, Trump: The Game, Trump Casinos, or Trump Mortgage.

The latest news in the investigation of Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents

Former President Donald Trump has been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with his mishandling of more than 100 classified documents, two sources confirmed to NBC News.

Trump first revealed the news earlier Thursday in a post on his Truth Social platform.

Here we go again.
I wonder if the audio recording of him all but admitting to having classified documents by saying "Here is the gist of what's in them, but I can't show them to you because they are classified" had any bearing on this indictment.

So now we have a deal to avert default which leads to less tax income, more defense spending and in a stroke of legislative genius, it cuts food stamps while somehow making that program more expensive.

I should be outraged but I think it's rather impressive.

I like how that one guy was like:

"Work requirements for people aged 50-54 will bring thousands out of poverty and reenrgize the workforce".

I'm like... What?  Whose gonna hire someone whose been unemployed for, likely, years and is almost at retirement age?  And how will that reenergize the workforce?

It boggles the mind.
I was wondering the same thing.  It's like he thinks that a 50 year old who isn't work and is on SNAP will suddenly find some great job and get off SNAP, when instead will go work for Walmart as a greeter and will still be on SNAP.  You don't go from on SNAP to out of poverty by being cut off SNAP, especially in the current economic climate where the gap between SNAP cut-off and complete self-sufficiency, let alone above poverty level, has widen substantially.

In other Trump related news, I was browsing Prime Video this morning after being woken up at 4am by my baby going through some sleep regression and I stumbled upon a movie that I'm going to have to check out, Trump vs. the Illuminati.  The synopsis "A clone of Donald Trump survives the Earth's destruction by stowing-away aboard the last space-bound shuttle. At the same time, across space, the human race continues to fight a costly battle against Illuminati forces."  This seems to be part of a bigger cinematic universe which includes such greats as Bigfoot vs. the Illuminati and also Bigfoot vs. Megalodon.

Exactly, much like Disney did with DeSantis, sometimes it's best to not interrupt your opponent when they are digging themselves into a hole.  We have been down this road before with Trump in 2016, the main difference here is we have evidence of what a Trump presidency looks like so independents can't say "maybe he will tone it down once in office".

10
I listened to a little conservative talk radio yesterday and this town hall was the topic, man was the host not happy with Trump for doing it.  He was talking about this.
2.  Remember this lying sack of shit?  Do you really want 4 more years of this guy?
He was saying that with the current economy, with inflation running rampant and gas prices up, people might be looking at the Trump years with rose colored glasses remembering how better off they were financially and might be willing to vote for him to get that back, but then he opens his mouth and all of that goes out the window because he is a bombastic ass who only cares about himself.  Everything he says reminds people of this fact and that will undoubtedly turn off centerists and independents.

11
I don't think Trump is going to be able to win over anyone new, regardless of whatever soundbites he is able to get.  there might be 5-10% of the voting population who hasn't made up their mind about Trump, the rest either will never vote for him, will always vote for him, or will begrudgingly vote for him if he has an R next to his name.

He's got I think 4 votes to spare.  I don't foresee this being a problem in his plan to crash the world's economy to fight wokism.

HR 2811, only just scraped through 217 to 215,  without Santos it's 216 to 215, and no way McCarthy holds that together.

4 republicans defected and voted with the Dems.

4 republicans defected because they could.  Don't doubt that if push comes to shove, those 4 would be willing to switch their votes in order for bills to pass.

I never knew that Nazism and white supremacy was so popular in central and south american countries. (I'm not being sarcastic, I really didn't know)
Didn't quite a few Nazis escape Germany to South America at the end of the war?  I've always heard that to be the case but never actually looked into it to see if it were true.

"invasion" is trending on Twitter because conservatives are tweeting this image. I think the image is from 2018, though.

They are freaking out about the end of title 42 this week. idk if that is good or bad, but they're getting riled up about an old image. I don't even think this is a picture of the US/Mexico border, it could be Mexico's southern border.
No one should be surprised that conservatives are freaking out about a false invasion on the southern border, they have been beating that drum since 2008 (with a small break from 2016 to 2020).

Also, wtf is he on about no corporate media being able to talk about corporate power?  That has been a huge focus of a lot of media outlets, just not Fox.  He said a lot without saying anything really.

Oh look. Donald Trump is currently in court being accused of rape.

Apparently a former president being in court for rape isn't very newsworthy.  Strange days we live in.

Trump made the “not my type” comment on this case 4 years ago.     And people wonder why sexual assault is so underreported with the system running at suck break neck speed?
There was something specific to Trump that prevented anything from happening to him 4 years ago.  I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's not un-presidented. Perhaps this case can set a new president.  Trump was president and couldn't have charges brought upon him, as per DOJ rules.

Tucker Carlson last week ripped big pharma spending hundreds of millions of dollars on TV ads and news outlets routinely parroting drug industry talking points. Is there a single example of a CNN, MSNBC or other Fox News host ever discussing TV advertising corruption?

Maybe this is the reason he was fired. The pharmaceutical industry is a huge source of revenue for tv shows.
I feel like Big Pharma was a relatively popular entity to attack by Carlson.  I know it was during the height of the pandemic.  As long as he didn't attack the dick pills, he was safe.

19
Tucker is probably going to be quickly picked up by Newsmax or another network similar.  I've been hearing a lot of talk since 2020 from conservatives of jumping off Fox and going to Newsmax since Fox called Arizona for Biden before any other network.  If Tucker went there, he would usher in the complete collapse of Fox News.  I heard a friend's mom lament yesterday that Tucker was let go for telling the uncomfortable truth and that he is now free to speak the whole truth.  Something needs to change about how the news is delivered and consumed if Tucker is being seen as a truth speaker.

With this law, when they will be sentenced to death for pedophilia, perverts such as Obama, Clintons, Davis and jackblack will not be able to evade death by a single vote. The Man among man paved the way for them to hell!

This is a terrible law. Our justice system requires a unanimous vote for a very good reason. It errs on the side of mercy and caution because justice is always terrifyingly close to crossing the line to tyrrany.

Read it again.
It says 'a unanimous jury' should snot be sabotaged by one vote.
Basically he's saying that if the jury is unanimous then it shouldn't be dismissed if one jurer votes nay.  Which they didn't do since its unanimous.

Its like saying 'if everyone votes for pizza, we won't allow the one person who didn't vote for pizza(who doesn't exist) to make us order burgers.

If the jury is unanimous then there will never be a jury member voting against.  So he's trying to block something that can't happen anyway.
It's two separate jury votes.  The first is the unanimous vote to convict, which is still present.  The second is the vote for the death penalty, prior to this legislation it had to be unanimous, now it can be an 8-4 vote in favor of the death penalty.  This is a terrible law as there should be no questions when you are talking about taking someone's life.

Really?
I thought the judge did the sentencing.
In most cases yes, but not when it comes to capital punishment.  This is likely so that sentencing to death isn't the in the hands of a single person.  The jury for the sentencing may also not be the same jury for the trial.

It is with the Department of Labor in Tennessee, tied in with boiler inspectors and elevator inspectors.  Thought they were originally with Commerce and Insurance before they were moved.  They are in a weird place where they don't quite fit in with the stated mission of just about any department but someone needs to house them.

Now you can't let your basketball enter the wrong yard either, https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/crime/article274498291.html, A 6-year old and her parents were shot by a neighbor after a basketball entered his yard.  The mother was grazed and daughter caught shrapnel, the dad is in critical condition in the hospital after shielding his daughter with his body.  This guy also apparently attacked his girlfriend with a mini sledgehammer in December and was held on $250k secured bond, he obviously posted bail.

I wonder if they will apply the Tyre Sampson Act to Disney? Or try to. idk https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/tyre-sampson-act-florida-lawmakers-discuss-ride-safety-bill

I do agree that rides need specialists to inspect them, but I suppose a general inspection by the state now and then would also be a good idea. I know the maintenance crews at Busch Gardens inspect their rides every morning before the park opens, I can't see a state inspector doing that job every day.

People dying or being injured on rides is bad for business.
I'm not sure if Florida operates in the same way as Tennessee in this regard, but Tennessee has amusement ride inspectors whose sole job is to inspect rides.  In order for a ride to operate in TN, it has to have been inspected by either a state inspector or a certified 3rd party before operation and again on a yearly basis (I believe).  These inspectors get regular training on amusement devices.  I could see Disney and Busch Gardens being exempt from state inspectors if they are submitting 3rd party inspections to the state for their operating license, which could very well be happening for all I know.  It's always good to get an extra set of eyes on the ride every now and then to try to catch something that might get overlooked by someone looking it over daily.
And all that to say, that is literally the only thing that has come out of DeSantis's mouth that has made even remote sense.  I truly don't know how this whole Disney debacle hasn't led to calls from within the state for him to resign due to abuse of power, but has instead caused people to flock to him.

I will say, DeSantis has one idea in the right direction, the Disney rides should be subject to state amusement ride inspectors.  Whether that is the inspectors actually conducting the inspection or it's a 3rd party coming in to perform the inspection.

How can the new board just claim the previous agreement is invalid and that be the case?  Seems like that would need to go through the courts instead of a board action.

Oh yeah, well I got to be charged $70,000 to have a child and the follow-up appointments!  So I'm definitely winning.  Seriously, had a kid in January, just the hospital stay, without considering the visits from doctors and nurses in the hospital was about $41k.  The nurses were a separate charge because they work for a different employer.  Each doctor was a separate charge.  The anesthetist was a different charge.

Back on topic.  We have legislators bringing up the Great Replacement conspiracy theory as justification for a 6 week abortion ban.  We have legislators (Missouri) that are saying everyone they know who got married at age 12 are still married.  So now awful parents can wed their daughter off to a pervert at age 12 where she could then be forced to have a child with no other options.

I really think you shouldn't use her as a source. She is nuts.

Even Vice has used some common sense in reporting on this https://www.vice.com/en/article/jg5q7k/rebekah-jones-viral-claims-about-her-sons-arrest-by-fascist-desantis-dont-match-available-evidence

I'll give her a pass on defending her autistic kid.   Also there's no doubt that DeSantis screwed up the Covid response and tried to hide the data.

You give her a pass on lying? It doesn't matter that her son is autistic, she lied about him being kidnapped, she lied about him just posting memes, she lied about this being retribution by DeSantis, and now she is fundraising off all that. She is a fraud. Even the super progressive The Daily Beast isn't giving her a pass https://www.thedailybeast.com/rebekah-jones-and-the-dangers-of-desantis-derangement-syndrome

Sometimes the enemy of your enemy is a lying fruitcake grifter.

I'm not convinced she's lying, especially about being targetted because of the suit against DeSantis.
https://www.cityandstatefl.com/policy/2023/03/rebekah-jones-now-suing-state-florida-get-her-job-back-covid-whistleblower-lawsuit/383944/

The sons case comes to court on May 3rd so lets see if the evidence stacks up.
She could have been right in trying to uncover the true data of COVID in Florida but also wrong about her son being targeted by DeSantis in retribution.  From what I've read about the case, the memes were at least borderline threatening and deserved to be followed up on their own.  If he made other statements in addition to those memes, then it's open and shut that it was justified.  Having autism doesn't give blanket protection from making threats.
