Flat Earth Q&A / To prove or disprove, the one and only way
« on: May 07, 2006, 03:21:08 PM »
Hmm, if one cut a globe and laid it from a top down perspective then the UN logo would be visible.

I think that was their original influence, not that the world is actually like that.

Flat Earth Q&A / Need straight answer

They did bring up a valid point.

Every time a picture from NASA is posted it is said to be a hoax.  So how does one prove anything?

There's a map of the flat earth in our logo at the top of the page.

Thanks for the artists rendition, but I would like to see an honest to goodness map.  I can't make out all of the countries and continents on the logo.

Could someone post a "map" of flat earth?  It seems every thread I read on this forum has a different thing going on.

How am I able to travel to Russia for Vodka from my Summer Solstice vacation in Alaska and not fall off?

Actually, that brings up another good poitn.  Every year it is daylight for a full 24 hours in Alaska, the Summer Solstice.  If the sun is a mere spotlight that doesn't stay in place, how does the Solstice take place?

Flat Earth Q&A / Why the moon proves the earth is round
« on: May 06, 2006, 08:42:59 PM »
Correct me if I'm wrong (but since there are so many different theories on how the earth is flat I'm sure there is someway to correct every round earth theory) but the sun would have to be round because it acts as a spotlight.

The spotlight is flat in the FE and projects downwards.

If the spotlight were round and projected downwards and also at an angle side to side some of the light would be absorbed and reflected around the initial area of the said spotlight.

See where I'm going with that?  Or playing dumb?

So you're telling me that the "ice wall" goes around the entire "world"

Then why have all of the pictures I've seen only show it at the bottom of the flat earth?  Nothing preventing the water on the sides to fall off

Thank you, that was exactly what I was going for.

How did the earth become flat, when the naturally assumed state of all matter is a sphere?

Cool picture.  Please justify this "natural state" claim.  Sounds very similar to Aristotelean thinking that for example, the "natural state" of rocks is "on the ground"; hence rocks fall.

[/quote]

It has been proven in a vacuum that water forms spheres since it has no where else to go.

I'm lucky enough to have visted NASA and some other private Vacuum silos.  It was a nifty field trip.  I can verify that it was indeed water since the water placed in the vacuum was that of my Deer Park water bottle I purchased at Giant Eagle supermarket.

Flat Earth Q&A / Why the moon proves the earth is round
« on: May 06, 2006, 08:26:08 PM »
Because he is unable to justify them, isn't it possible another could?

You state that the earth reflects light onto the moon as well, how is that accomplished?

For that to happen on a flat earth light would have to come at an angle and bounce off (because light moves in both waves and particles, the waves would be refracted)

For the the light to come from an angle the sun would have to be round

So the earth is flat, and the sun is round.  According to that theory, but that theory can instantaneously be proved wrong by other theories present within the site and mass science.

Hmm true, I must've forgotten that an oiler/icebreaker would be best suited.

It would be quite the expedition, but honestly, who would do it.

I'd bet its safe to say more than 95% of the world believes the world to be round.  So a RE'er wouldn't waste his time with such an expedition, but damn a FE'er would make a killing with it.

It has just hit me, the one way to prove or disprove the Flat Earth

The Ice Wall, if one were to sail along the wall in one constant direction, he would either fall off, or end up where he began.

True, or untrue?

For petes sake, will you people make up your minds? First I read that falling off the edge of the earth is impossible, now you say you can fly off the edge? You make no sense to me!

I'm quite certain no one has ever said falling off the earth is possible, only that the government would stop you before you got there, or your navigation instruments would malfunction so as to lead you away from the rim.

Has anyone actually ever tried that?  Without using navigation instruments or anything?

I'm quite sure that the entire theory would be proven or disproven by...... actually I'll make a new thread since this one has been spammed and my question is now moot.

In my opinion, your argument that 1+1=1 actually works against you not only in the fact that they proved your argument wrong, but when you look ever moreso deeply into it.

1+1 is the oldest known Law of Science.  Math = Science, so its a Law of Science.  Man used to think that the earth were flat, so technically that would make it the oldest theory of the earth itself.  By you saying 1+1=1 on occasion, you prove your own theory of the earth being flat wrong.  Since what we percieve isn't always correct.

Let me reitterate

What we percieve, isn't always correct.

In the end, rather than bullshit about theories, the only way one can achieve anything is by getting off his own ass and doing it himself.

Maybe someone has actually fallen off of the earth, maybe someone has gone to outer space.  Maybe there is a God.  Maybe I'm black?  (well I'm not, but still, its a maybe)

I have read through this (albiet out of boredom, sue me)

I find it entirely possible that the numbers have been inflated, but at the same time I do not have access to records of Jewish Faith Population before WWII.

I know that the Holocaust personally happened, because a fine woman and mother I know survived the Holocaust on the French Front.  Her brother was in the French Rebellion and she was a captured Jew.  Even in her old age she still has scars.

So in short, my question is:  The overall conclusion that you present, is it that the Holocaust (extermination of the Jews) didn't happen merely out of symantics.  Rather, that since all Jews were not exterminated the word "Holocaust" cannot be used?  Records show that Concentration Camps existed and many German Soldiers and Jewish Prisoners have testimony that match.

I have an idea.

Why don't FE'rs traverse an expedition to find the edge of the world?  Surely with modern technology a live video feed could be trasmitted.  That would make it possible even if they fell of the edge of the world, video data would be present.

Question:  Ships that travel to Russia.  Once I made a three hour trip from Alaska to Russia and then back, just because I could (yes it was a vacation and a little excess never hurt anyone).  How was that possible?
