Yeah Rabinoz, I don't think I'm going to get any of the FE perspective community tackle this ... that's a shame 
Given the size of the sun in my photos I personally don't think the perspective model works here and some of the other photos from that session clearly show a large sized sun creeping over the horizon, not a small dot sun in the distance getting bigger.

I have more photos from the same morning session showing the sun from the very first appearance over the horizon ... i can add them to this thread if people want, just didn't want to make it too photo heavy for the topic.

Ah okay
I've come asking questions regarding my own photos, trying to look at this FE topic objectively and over the past 6 months or so have seen things that seem to point to a 'flatter' earth than equations allow and things like this that point to a RE.
I even bought a fairly expensive 85mm spotting scope with ED glass for a really crisp, clear image and 20-60x zoom to do some sea level testing and so far i've seen some surprising and confusing results ... still doing some experiments.
Practical experiments are fun though, no matter what the result

It sure looks like it ... I just can't wrap my head around half the sun being obscured due to perspective but not show a silhouette of a 978m mountain in the same direction that is only 151km away over the sea ...

Afternoon everyone, being an early-bird there's nothing I like doing than heading down to the shore and getting some photos, weather permitting of course 
Brief out line ... these photos are pointing from the highest point in Donaghadee 'The Moat' Northern Ireland in the direction of the harbour (slightly to the right), out across the Irish Sea and the next highest land mass would be the Lake District, England, more importantly Scafell Pike which is 978m above sea level and 151km from my position.
I've tried to make this as detailed as possible with photos and googlemap screen grabs and in the first one the arrow points to where I was positioned for the photos.
Now, I'm still reading up and trying get my head around the weird effects of refraction on water and I just can't see how the 'perspective' idea works in this scenario.
From where I was standing, on a very clear morning / sunrise, if we're on a flat plane, I would expect to see the silhouette of Scafell Pike ... no?
Is there a refraction equation that I'm missing that would help explain / allow for no visible land mass in the same direction of the sunrise?
Would value some input / help, thanks.
I don't have a height for the Moat but this photo gives a good indication of how high I was above sea level ... if anything this should make Scafell Pike even more visible.
I took all the photos with a Sony A200.

I'm not up with all the FE dynamics, I'm sorta new to the whole concept to be honest, but, since we're talking about the path of the sun, how does the sun move in the FE model to account for clockwise motion in the northern hemisphere and anti-clockwise in the southern? It's one of the first things I noticed on one of my trips to Australia.
I can only make that model work in my head if the sun traveled in some sort of figure of eight ( 8 ) path or spiral or is there some FE calculations I haven't read about yet?

Sorry for the late reply, it's been a busy day and thank you for all the responses so far
First of all, this is not going to sound very scientific, it's just something that grabbed my interest because I was surprised by how much I could see over this 22 mile distance and watching what other people have posted in youtube made me curious to the possibility of 'different' circumstances that might cause this to happen ... at first I thought about how parts of the sea can have an increased bulge at certain times of the year due to the moon's gravitational pull so I played devil's advocate in my mind, as it were, to wonder if the opposite could happen, could any circumstances cause a flattening of the sea, maybe not totally level but less curved? ... that just happened to be when I was stirring my morning cuppa, hence the thought process.
I can only really speak about what I have seen, the stretch of water near me is pretty much bang on 22 miles wide coast to coast and my eye level would be almost 20 feet above sea level and I think the coast road on the other side is about the same so I think that makes the hidden value about 130ft, give or take a few feet.
I'm not an expert on atmospheric horizon refraction but if we allow 10 - 20%, will that greatly affect 130ft in the right conditions? I'll leave that for smarter minds than mine but I am still pondering my original thought regarding a possible flattening effect for a confined volume of water.

Hello everyone, I've been lurking for awhile and this is my first topic so hello to all you RE and FE alike
After reading some threads about the apparent lack of curve over a wide expanse of water and having made some personal observations of a similar nature I was feeling slightly perplexed because I already know we live on a globe but I couldn't ignore the 22 mile stretch of water near me where, on a clear day, I could see the opposite coastline (22 miles away) and watch cars driving around the town which is not much above sea level and according to the earth's curvature formula I should not be able to see what I was seeing ... so after giving it some serious thought I had a eureka moment while stirring my cup of tea this morning!
Now, please forgive me if this idea is old news and already posted here somewhere but here's my theory ...
The earth has localised water flat spots in certain contained areas even though it is a globe, it's a pretty simple concept really and it was the cup of tea that made me think of it, a lake or a lough as it's called where I live, is just like a giant bowl or cup so is it unreasonable to suggest that the water would just level out and be flat?
It seems logical to me, flat areas of water on a round earth.
BTW ... my reasons for being a so called RE'er are based on my own observations as an amateur astronomer in the northern hemisphere and having traveled to the southern hemisphere to make other observations.
