Flat Earth General / Re: Space tourism
« on: July 20, 2021, 01:46:29 PM »

I imagine that it will go down like this:

- They are really just in a regular plane cruising at a normal altitude
- Passenger shots out the windows are faked somehow, maybe simulated video imagery projected on/in the glass
- Selfie’s of 5 minutes of unedited weightlessness hijinks = Cables

But that all means passengers have to be in on it. Which can work for a while. But in years to come with growing ridership/exposure, they are going to have to figure out how to dupe the passengers too. Projected window sims would be a start. But the weightlessness…? That’s gonna be tough. Maybe micro dose them with ether and ketamine…

I used to think that something like space tourism would have to end the FE movement.  But, I've read what people have written in this forum about the impossible flights in the Southern Hemisphere, even in at least one thread someone writing that the people taking those flights are murdered.   Proof does not seem to matter.   So let me ask FEers.  When it gets to the point where hundreds or thousands of civilians have gone on these flights, and they say they have seen the curvature of the Earth, will that be enough to change your mind?  If not, can you give me an example of something that would change your mind?

They will just fall back on "Well it only looks round, but is actually flat!" arguments. Not going to be much of a mystery how they will spin it.

Anyway, congrats to Bezos on the successful return of the capsule from their trip to space and the rocket landing too.

That's two trips to space now, or one depending on your definitions, or zero of you just think it's all a Hollywood sound stage. :)

People believe what they need to believe and all else be damned. "I don't care what the math and science prove, I know what I believe."

I have come to believe most of those here, know the Earth is a globe. They just find it entertaining in egging on the .001% that really believe it is flat.

Ah, someone who has never taken navigation classes, or did any actual navigation on land, sea or air. Fly a compass course from Miami FL, to Portland, OR. Assume fuel is not a problem or you'r flying a large passenger jet. After you pass Portland continue to hold that compass course and see where you next find land. Hint on a Flat Earth it is impossible to there that way. You'll be northwest the Philipines.
If you did that you would either pass over Alaska or hit Russia.
Did you mean for them to fly in a straight line? and ignore the compass once they started moving?

No. You fly the same heading, which on a globe puts you in the South Pacific. But you now bring up another point about FE maps. I was stationed in Thailand. On the way there, we started at San Francisco, to HI to Guam to PI then into Thailand. On the way back it was Bangkok to Hong Kong to Japan to San Fransico. If the Earth is flat it would have been shorter and faster to fly to over Canada, Siberia, China, and into Thailand

Polairs is now our pole star. But won't stay that way. We swing from Polaris to Vega on a 23,000 year cycle.

Magnectic varation is because we have a molten iron core that keeps moving. Tides wtihin the core like tides in our oceans  and seas.

Flat Earth General / Re: What would change your mind?
« on: November 22, 2020, 05:53:04 AM »
Thank you, sceptimatic, but you didn't answer my question. What would change YOUR mind, if anything?
I did answer it, sort of.
If I had a level scope and looked out to sea and only saw sky with no horizon, I'd go with a global model.
I do not see that, so by reality the global model we are indoctrinated into, is basically, dead

But, to reply to your post: it seems to me that if I were standing anywhere with water between myself and the edge of the world, I should be able, with a sufficiently strong telescope, to see the edge, since we're on the same plane, would you not agree?
Forget about standing near any edge of the world. Let's deal with what you observe in actual reality.

I'll repeat what I said.
If you ere standing with a perfectly horizontally level scope, looking out to sea and you know the Earth should be curving downwards from your point, then over a short distance your water disappears from your scope to be replaced by sky....only (taking into account unobstructed view).

You know in your own mind that you see water and sky. Basically your horizon that appears to suit your scope and eyesight for distance.
You clearly know you do not ever just see sky....so you should clearly understand that your Earth does not curve downwards away from you.

It really is as simple as that. Maybe too simple for the scientific one's who wish to rely on magical mysteries.

Your example is in one detention, but we live in three. You assume the curve would would show. I can't because it curves away.

In Auguest of 2014, a friend I and I were traveling throught Kansas going west on I--70 at night. It was severe clear, so we had great visiability. Using a FE Model, we should have seen the lights of cars coming down the Rockies. We didn't. What we DID see was red tower lights popping up to the west. At first we noticed 6 red lights running in a line north to south off in the distance. Then more lights popping up. The orginal 6 added lights under them. As we drove west the 6 became a few dozen, then a few hundred and all of them adding lights below those above on each tower.

We were approaching a Wind Farm. For each 5 miles we got closer to the first set of towers we saw about 16 feet more of each tower and therefore more lights apeared on each tower further toward the ground. When we got to the west end of Kansas we notice the my truck was working harder, it daylight by then and the land looked "level" in all directions, but we had started to climb that would take us into the Rockies. On the way back a week later, we screamed down that same unseen incline as we were now going down hill.

According to her bio she moved to live with her husband while he was studying law. Not much of a stretch that she would go into law afterwards if NASA wanted her to move and change careers. In the 80's they didn't have the internet like we do now and may not have forseen that this was not good enough.

Again, listing what the older Resnik claimed to do in the 80's is hardly good enough. You are claiming that she didn't write that she was a dead astronaut and listed some things about what she was doing so therefore she isn't her.

And again, ignoring the phenomenal coincidences of a doppelganger with the same facial tick and super rare name.

There was a man where I worked that looked like one of my great uncles, right down to his gate as he walked. Thing is my great uncle died twenty years before. Another man in our section was the spitting image of my cousin. So much so that we went into great detail of our respective family trees. No relation we could find. I walked into the nursing home where my dad was being cared for, in a surprise visit. He was in Idaho and I in Indiana. This was my first time there. The nurse looked up from the desk, cocked her head, and said, "You're Leo's son. You look so much like him." She wasn't asking, she was making a statement of fact based on what she saw. Everyone I know has similar

Yeah, and how likely is it that your rare doppleganger would also share a name so rare that you are the only other person (or one of the very few) people in the US with that name? And a similar facial tic on their lip? Not too likely.

Rare? I gave two examples in one work setting. I did forget to include the fact this workplace is more than 1700 miles from where the two relatives live(d).

BTW, why fake their deaths? Why destroy a muity billion-dollar spacecraft in the first place?

Let’s have another serious discussion about what is most important, CURVATURE.

To the opposition here, please tell the readers here, why you nor anyone else can prove the curvature bulge over the center of USA? A near 200 mile high curvature bulge over the USA would indeed be measurable by today’s technology. In fact, there would be established curvature charts of all landmass and showing how they relate to Eratosthenes measurements and these charts would be used to shut down a Flat Earth argument. But, NO, NO, NO.
Please tell the readers why.

Arguments that pertain to Sunrises and Sunset and all other lame arguments do not apply here because it does not prove what you see proves the USA has the miles of curvature bulge over center as dictated by a 3959 mile radius earth. Prove Earth’s radius today and show how it relates to curvature charts.

You are mixing flat and round to get the results you want. An error a grade school kid would catch.

As far as I am concerned I cannot drop and ignite a nuclear weapon anywhere.
Of course you can't because:
  • You don't have any nuclear weapons to drop and
  • nuclear weapons are not "ignited" but are detonated.
I know it's not the same but I assume that you have exploded gelignite, dynamite, TNT or plastic explosive. Did you "ignite" that?

Quote from: Heiwa
And so can nobody else. incl. presidents of all sorts of countries.
Sorry, Mr Pretends-to-be-All-Knowing Anders Björkman, but just because YOU can't do something proves nothing!

There are numerous people the know infinitely more than you about nuclear weapons - that's not hard as you seem to know nothing.

But there are enough of Nuclear Physicists and Nuclear Engineers around that do know how build nuclear weapons and
too many presidents with the authority to deploy nuclear weapons that it's all too possible!
Only two towns have ever been subject to atom bombings - Hiroshima and Nagasaki - August 1945, but it was fake news and propaganda. Both towns were just destroyed by napalm bombs. And soon after the towns were rebuilt, etc, etc.
Only criminal 'survivors' have testified that both towns were vaporized by sudden FLASHES killing 100 000's of innocent civilians. Only war mongering idiots support these lies today. Incl. D. Trump and his staff.

There were more than 200 atmospheric nuclear bomb tests conducted between 1945 and 1958 by the US and witnessed by more than 400,000 US Service members taking part in those tests. There is an untold number of people that witnessed them from a distance of about 100 miles. Clase closed.

Yay!

My wild guess is not so wild, it seems:

“As soon as an abort was initiated, the LM's descent stage engine would shut down. Nearly simultaneously, four explosive bolts linking the descent stage with the ascent stage would fire. A fifth pyrotechnic device would drive a guillotine that would cut the wiring umbilical linking the two stages. The ascent stage engine would then ignite to propel the astronauts toward lunar orbit. The abandoned descent stage, meanwhile, would fall to the lunar surface.”

http://spaceflighthistory.blogspot.com/2015/08/failure-was-option-what-if-apollo-lunar.html?m=1

You want to know how I guessed this was the “official narrative”, or whatever you want to call it before looking it up?

It’s that “thinking for yourself” thing, you lot bang on about.  Because it would make no sense to only be able to fire the assent stage from the surface.  Because it would probably take even more engineering effort to actually remove that option for the crew.
The exact timeframe of an aborted landing is an UNKNOWN...therefor no one is able to calculate the LM's path back to the CM to make a rendez-vous to safely return to earth.
From the moon it was (still bogus of course) possible to determine a certain rendez-vous flight schedule/path in advance that isn't possible during an abrupt abortion.
The speed/distance to the CM is most likely beyond repair after an aborted landing...no way they could fix that.

Wiki & co has ruined almost all your free will....sad

Please provide evidence and/or your calculations used to determine what is possible for an aborted landing attempt.

Edit:  Also these are NOT unknowns.  They had a planned landing site, they knew more or less the trajectory of the LEM and how long it would take.  They knew the orbit of the CM.

If they thought there was a 50/50 chance of having to abort, they would have worked out what it take to get back.  At least it would have been negligent not to.

Are you saying you know for certain that neither LEM or CM had enough fuel reserve to accommodate any uncertainty and rendezvous under these circumstances?
I don't have to ... the moment of an aborted landing is unknown and therefor you can't guide the LM to the CM with any form of meticulously control over the event. The ascent stage engine would then ignite to propel the astronauts toward lunar orbit. The abandoned descent stage, meanwhile, would fall to the lunar surface.”
But since you have no control over the timeframe of a sudden aborted landing you may well aim for the lunar orbit, but you can't influence how far the LM and CM are apart during an abrupt aborted landing.
It would be mighty lucky shot if you were anywhere near in orbit (LM's position in relation to the CM)

No. All the abort needs to do is stop the decent. After that, they have time to figure a new accent path to the CM.

A gas is a lot of molecules which are a gas because they don't stick together to form a solid or a liquid. They are always bouncing around. They bounce off of each other and they bounce off of the inside walls of any container they may happen to be inside of. In a closed container, they are bouncing against all the sides equally, creating an outward pressure but exerting a net zero force on the container as a whole, except outwards. The hotter the gas, the faster the molecules are moving and the harder they are hitting the sides of the container. If the gas is hot enough and the container weak enough, it can burst.

In a rocket engine one wall of the container has a hole in it (the nozzle). Fuel and oxidizer are injected into the chamber where it burns because it's fuel and oxidizer and that's what fuel and oxidizer do when they get hot enough, which is why a candle keeps burning once you light it. (The rocket engine has an igniter to start the burning, just like you light a candle with a match.) So now the gas gets really hot because it's burning and the molecules are moving very fast and hitting the sides of the chamber really hard. Pushing outward on the container really hard.

But there's a hole in one wall that the molecules escape through. So there's less pressure on that wall, which is always facing backwards so the rocket doesn't go the wrong way. Thus there's more molecules hitting the front wall than the back wall and that pushes the rocket forward. Newton's action/reaction is happening on the front side of the combustion chamber where a molecule hits that side of the chamber but then never hits the back side to even the pressure because there's a hole there.

This works in space because it doesn't matter where the molecules go as long as they miss hitting the back of the chamber because they go through the hole instead. It's a little more complicated because the molecules are also hitting each other, but the important part is that because of the hole in the back, more of them are hitting the front. This would work even if the Earth were round.

The gas is accelerated to low pressure by pressure gradient force. Did you not watch the explanation in the video. Simply stating what was taught in school without evidence, like simple experiment, is not sufficient.

PV=nRT. When the chamber is opened to space, you increase the volume thus decreasing pressure and thus decreasing the force applied to the rocket walls.

Why is it when you create airflow from a pipe, that is closed from one end only and has a small opening on the side near the closed end, using a vacuum, there is no opposite force in the pipe.

Why is it when wind blows on the back of your head, the air in front of you doesn’t push off your face as it moves away from you?

The rocket engine produces a constant pressure from the burning of fuel and oxidizer until the fuel-oxidizer is spent, or the flow of same is shut off to the engine.

About your last question, it does push off your face when your head moves forward, but the wind blowing past your head is traveling faster by a huge factor making noticing impossible unless you have some very sensitive equipment.

Google the video of the model rocket engine in a vacuum chamber. It proves the DO work in a vacuum.

Atomic Heritage Foundation: Survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Kimura Yoshihiro, in third grade at the time, saw the bomb fall from the plane. “Five or six seconds later, everything turned yellow. It was like I’d looked right at the sun. Then there was a big sound a second or two later and everything went dark”. Those at the epicenter of the blast were vaporized instantly. Others suffered horrific burns or were crushed by falling buildings. Hundreds threw themselves into the nearby river to escape the fires that burned throughout the city. As Doctor Michihiko Hachiya recalled, “Hiroshima was no longer a city, but a burnt-over prairie”. Sadako Kurihara also expressed the aftermath in her poem “Ruins”:

Hiroshima: nothing, nothing-

old and young burned to death,

city blown away,

socket without eyeball.

White bones scattered over reddish rubble;

above, sun burning down:

city of ruins, still as death.

One bomb fell from the plane - NOT many planes dropping thousands of bombs. Get that through your sick thick skull, Mr Pretends-to-be-All-Knowing Anders Björkman.

The left will hold to her being creditable, even when she has no idea where, when, who, or what.

Look not even Dr. Ford claims she was raped, and still, there are people here saying he raped Her.

So far as I have read and watched on news, not one witness, even people she claims as best/close friends have backed her.

The person that claimed he exposed himself says she never saw his junk or even his pants being down.

The 3rd person claiming gang rape is even backing down form her claim that he was there, though she says she went back to those parties 9 more times. She does have a documented history of making false sexual harassment claims even against her boyfriend how had to file for a restraining order against her.

What is not understood about Pi? I used it to find the number of cords in the trees we had felled. You measure the diameter and length of each cut section, then total the volume then divide by 128 to get the number of cords. The result is as accurate as you want to make it. IE as accurate as each measurement you make. Even rounding each off and making eyeball guesses I am within a rick after felling 4 huge trees.

Well that's just silly. There are no magical floating satellites in the air above us doing "GPS". Have you seen radio towers? Well some of those are GPS towers, that is how you get your location on the flat earth.

Towers? I backpack into some remote places in the Sierras. Places where the only signal possible is from orbit. Places were ONLY a Sat Phone will work, yet my GPS works just fine.

And you STILL avoided the fact you cannot produce an accurate FET map

Flat Earth General / question about GPS and accurate maps
« on: August 31, 2017, 08:30:45 AM »
FET says GPS is fake.

My GPS sports watch gives accurate readings on my location to within 5 feet when I train for and run half marathons.

GPS Nav in aircraft get me to my destination and locate landmarks along the way as check points. These points are even more accurate.

In order to fake the GPS signal and give me accurate locations and times, requires a map that is accurate to at least 5 feet. In the cast of the Military, a GPS signal is within inches, so the map must be accurate within inches.

The fake signal is required to be accurate on a FET map first, before it is translated to RE and appear real with its accuracy. A conversion from map to map.

This raises a huge question.

If there are people “inside” that know the truth who are getting the truth out to “the people,” why has none of them produced an accurate copy of the FE Map used to fake tens of millions for accurate GPS measurements each day. So, where are these FE maps and why can’t anyone one in FET produce one?

All a matter of opinion.
I personally find it beyond fascinating that people in 2017 actually believe something can 'orbit/fall around an imaginary curve' of a celestial body that in itself changes direction and speed if you add all the involved galactic movements in the cosmological model.

In order to understand this fantasy, one must study 'orbital mechanics'.
A freemason under a tree centuries ago hallucinating about a bullit with just enough speed and height for the ideal mixture to orbit earth.

Do people really believe this is more than science fiction,...... and i mean the real obvious trash ??

You don't understand because you failed basic math. Then when you got to geometry in school you, not understanding basic math were so lost you just gave up and bought into the FE fantasy.

Awesome stuff fellas. Wish I could have been anywhere near totality but I live in a southern continent that doesn't exist, so..

This was my first total eclipse.  Amazing experience.  I was only 3 miles within the edge of totality, so it went by quick.

Nice! Did you happen to get any photos?
I did indeed.  The last picture is my setup.  A Nikon 3100 with a cheap Opteka 650-1300 lens and a sheet of filter material I made a frame for.  After the last filtered shot of the last sliver of sunlight disappearing, I switched to a Nikon 55-300 and went handheld.  Between looking around in awe at the landscape and the sun's corona, and then taking one pic and checking the preview really quick, I only had time to keep shooting and tweaking the focus.  I didn't have time to mess with different ISO or aperature.  They're shot in RAW, so I can still do some work on them.  Messed a few a little bit so far.  Being about 3 miles in, it went quick.  The gopro was set for time-lapse at 5 second intervals.  I didn't know what the approaching darkness would look like (saw some neat pics of an approaching umbra in Hawaii) so I figured I'd try.

Good job...

Come to Indiana in 2024, the duration of totality for Columbus, IN is around a minute and 30 longer.

We did see one. It was bright, located to the west and just south of the sun at totality. It was worth the drive to see it in total. Here at home, it was 93%.
