You'd have to follow some line not relative to the Earth's surface, though, since bearings/headings are relative to the North pole and are compatible with both FE/RE (in that if you flew along latitude 0, you'd eventually end up where you started in both models).

I'm not aware of any research in to this area - you have to understand that the number of FEers around is quite small, and the inherent ridicule that the education system has been designed to instill, makes it very difficult to recruit more.

More senior members may be aware of some basic research, though.

how about makeing everyone able to remove posts if they posted a certain percentage higher amount?

for example, anyone with 20k posts could remove a post by someone who has less than 20 total. or atleast lock their threads. This kind of user admin could help clear out some of this sh!t
I don't think we need to be endorsing gayers actions ;)

Because it can be seen from land near the rim (i.e. Oz, NZ, South America, etc)

With regards to the Aurora Borealis, it can only possibly work as you already know it to work - due to the strength of the magnetic field at the North pole.

As an aside, it also appears around the rim as the Aurora Australis.

I was kind of hoping they'd make it float, so that we could sail around with the weather and raid other countries for provisions...

« on: May 11, 2008, 02:58:48 AM »
I think flat (well, convex)... mostly because of the way the light comes from the moon and that we've only ever seen one face of it. But I also believe the moon is reflecting light, not the source of it.

To use Schroedinger against his will, until we are able to send someone to look under the Earth, elephants and turtles are as good an explanation as the more commonly held belief of "nothing".

For all we know, there could be many more stars below.... or even some dead cats.

Far be it from me to question the FAQ, but if the answer is meant to be ambiguous in order to insinuate the lack of knowledge, should such a specific example be used? Rather than four elephants and a turtle, why not something equally facetious? Frankly, it is displaying unwanted favouritism.

My apologies, good sir.

I believe the subject of my poor memory has come up before - apparently it doesn't stretch as far back as the previous page.

I keep seeing that one about flying around the Earth back to where you started... I fail to understand why this shouldn't be possible in FE?

But it's right. Tyrant is in his pants becomes tyrant's in his pants
I realise that - but it's massively ambiguous (or was it just me that misread it?). I'd argue you'd never normally write that sentence like that (missing the article - THE tyrant's in his pants).

That aside, my statement stands for The Sun in general ;)

17
wow I didn't think anyone would believe there was an article.
Sorry, english isn't my primary language, if I could rephrase it in my primary language it would have made a lot more sense
Oh, how silly we must all look; believing you actually wanted to have an intellectual debate.

I'm pretty sure Fikealox is not an FEer.
But don't let that stop you.

You might want to wipe some of that froth away, btw; don't want you spitting over people.

One is free to enjoy turtles and elephants in the privacy of their own home...just keep them out from under my Flat Earth! >:(

Baffling. You seem to think that it's our problem that we were interested in seeing the article that you said you were writing...

Notice how they don't answer your question they just have there own chat about songs etc.
I thought Ski answered perfectly - it's funny how REers always ignore the answers and accuse us of not answering

Thing of it like the centrifugal "force" - it's all perception (and countless years of being told what you're perceiving)

True - I was being reactionary.

WP just perpetuates what the propaganda has led people to believe.
It doesn't make it any better as an information source, but its nature isn't to purposefully deceive (or so we hope)

I got 2292 times, but I'll allow for some variance...
Does that include the fat people?

EDIT: There is also no reason that humans, as well as any other life form, wouldn't be accelerating upwards too, considering how we are made out of the same stuff the earth is made of...
Well, he's getting there... sloooowly...

29
If the air is accelerating upwards along with everything else, wouldn't that mean that if you inhaled a lot of air, and then jumped, you would be able to jump higher than normal? I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen. And since air contains water, and we are about 75% water, then wouldn't we be really lightweight if everything is accelerating?
Say what?

Should I assume from that message that you think that we aren't /all/ accelerating with the Earth?
Your world sounds weird.

Ha ha, awesome. You come on here to pick a fight, steal irrelevant material and then get petty about it.
Are you upset we didn't believe what you said?
