I haven't logged in for over a decade. Honestly surprised this place is still around. Did the "The Book" ever get a sequel? Did we ever really determine what a gallon of water weighs underwater? Are any lololds still around?

I knew going into to it that there was no way they could encompass everything in the book into the movie but I was hoping for at least a general keeping with the flow of the book.  The movie also seemed to lose the true panic and consequences that the book showed.

The movie was pretty good though, after reading the book, I don't think I could get past the glaring differences in order to appreciate fully.

If you didn't read the book, what did you think of the movie?  And if you did read the book, did you find the movie difficult to enjoy?

A good point regarding the monopoly of morality that many Christians claim.

For those who aren't aware, California's Prop. 8 and DOMA are being challenged in the Supreme Court today and tomorrow.  This article gave a brief summary of some possibilities.  Hopefully, the court will make a broad ruling when it comes to federal recognition of gay marriage but I doubt that they will.

Only from a nostalgic perspective. This doesn't have the guy that made TA and SC behind it either.
But I think it has some of the same people who worked on TA in some capacity.

Lately, I've been going between local vodka (Tito's, Dripping Springs, etc.) and Evan Williams whiskey.
Near Austin?

Enjoyed some Bushmills for Paddy's day.

Better than Two and a Half Men, not as good as How I Met Your Mother.

Don't get me started on How I Met Your Mother. Okay, I'll get started anyway. It's a terrible show. I know television can be an overwhelming and confusing medium, so I understand that you're all terribly confused. I'll help you get started. You should begin your journey in the mid to late 90's, which is the undisputed pinnacle of human cultural achievement. MST3K and Space Ghost: Coast to Coast are excellent starting points. I'll tell you how to navigate over the crest of the new millennium later when I have time. It's super complicated.
I was only comparing it to other stupid, laugh track shows.

I was actually in Belfast for part of the riots and when a bomb was placed under a policeman's car.  Seriously, how is the U.K. a country when they can't even properly police their own country?  Over 30 years of murderous tribalism...the U.K. sucks.

Go to northern Ireland and convince them to give it back to the Irish.
I'm going to help you before Thork gets here, Ulster voted and decided to stay a member of the UK.

So the Westborough Baptist Church are True Christians, then?

Your definition would seem to exclude Catholics and Orthodox churches and few others under the umbrella of Protestantism.
Salvation is achieved by having Christ in your heart. Whether you are in a catholic or protestant church matters not. However I believe the Catholic church would try to lead some astray, also some protestant churches. Jesus concern is with each persons heart, not which church and rules you follow. Each person must work out his own salvation with fear and trembling, and be forgiven of sin in Jesus.
And, according to James, faith without works, is dead.  I always wondered why Christians focus more on faith than deeds.
What you say is very true. If you do works without Christ in your heart your works may be done in vain. If you have the faith of Christ, you will do the works in faith.
Would killing others with Christ in your heart be works in faith?
