Flat Earth Q&A / Rewording for Accuracy
« on: April 29, 2006, 06:48:14 AM »
I don't think it even deseves to be an assertion, they haven't given a single un-arguable reason why it has to be flat, round earth has given that reason, it works with every tried and tested science of the Earth, such as everything has gravity -has been tested with a number of things, such as the orbits and planets gravity, the planets that we see would fall apart if there wasn't any gravity holding them together, and theres not enough glue in the universe to hold them together- so "assertion", perhaps even "unscientific vision" ("drunkness" if you like  :wink: ),would suit alot better than "theory".

Well done Darksuit.

Newtons Law of Gravitation;
They don't beleive this, they say it's the acceleration of the Earth.
General Relativity
Yes, they beleive in this, they sometimes use "the inertial point of relativity"
Newtons Three Laws
I'm not sure of these off the top of my head, but when I first read it, I thought of Izaac Asimov's three laws of robotics.
Quantum Mechanics
I've heard of this but never learnt it, so I have no clue.

Are these "models" actual models (as in a miniature Near-Universe made of clay) or are they a metaphorical way to talk about different ways the Earth could look compared to the rest of the Universe or how the Earth would act with everything else?

Is there a place where I can read about/see the different models?

everything can be a conspiracy, and when everything is a conspiracy, nothing is a conspiracy.

Bin Laden hasn't even been proven to be alive, nobody who is trusted has ever seen him or seen evidence of his life.

Aso, the government can easily spy on anybody they want from a computer, Google Earth is a free download of the Earth, imagine what the government can buy if we can get this for free, I looked up my house on google earth and it was really good detail, you'd only have had to zoom in a bit more to see clearly all details, and it wouldn't have had to be much more focused either.

If you let me post in there, I have actually had quite alot of ideas to prove that the Earth is flat (I'm still a round alearther though), and I wouldn't even talk about Round Earth there, though I'm not a very good member yet (only joined a week ago).

Because it's pretty stupid to think that the whole universe revolves around us, what if everything in the whole universe was flat and side by side with a few thousand miles of things that look like stars inbetween, then opposite this are a complex series of mirrors so no matter where you are, you see exactly what you're supposed to, this would make more sense to me, although mirrors would be weird and pointless, perhaps simply the edge of it all is reflective.

planets at the bottom, lines are reflective (not realistic at all).

Flat Earth Q&A / The simpler answer...

My theory;

There is a person A and a person B.

Person A sees a TV and tells Person B that it's a TV, but the way Person B sees it is the same as the way Person A sees a radiator. This is because we are taught by somebody else what everything is, we don't teach ourselves from a huge picture dictionary that we're born with in our head, if we were, then Person A could walk up to Person B and say "that looks like a banana", but this would confuse Person B because he thinks it looks like a Chinchilla, so when Person A picked up the cinchilla, peeled it and ate it in a couple of bites, then Person B would have no clue whats going on.

If we now say that there is one of these all knowiing picture dictionarys, and then Person A and Person B would go back to knowing the same things as they taught, and what looks like a toilet to person A, through p
Person Bs eyes from the point of veiw of this picture dictionary looks like a Cow.

This is confusing and I don't expect you to understand it, but please ask me to explain what you don't get.

next there will apparently be a code found in the bible that says when the apocolypse will happen, but everybody with a minor brain cell knows that any book can "read the future", moby dick had "kennedy" and "assasination" going on diagonals to each other after going through a long process of jumbling up letters.

I'll be at the party, mind if I bring a portable bouncy castle? If only i didn't break my nose today...

I am typing the 1000th post in other alternative science,
nobody else is postig the 1000th post
so I am nobody else,
if I am nobody else,
I must be myself,
but if I'm myself,
then I can't be anybody else,
and if I can't be anybody else,
I have to post the 1000th post!

Then the only logical reason is that the government are also hiding giant bunnies which can destroy the flat Earth, and just in case somebody sees one, the government can say "don't worry maam, this here giant bunny can't destroy the round Earth", good?

Are you SERIOUSLY that stupid!!?!?? Ask almost anybody and they will tell you that springs are water from underground purified by rocks, it works because the water is forced upwards and is forced through small holes in certain layers of rock, this acts as a filter and only lets the wate through, then it also picks up minerals along the way.

there are water purifying plants that take sea water,

What are they called?  Do you actually drink the water that they've purified?  How do you get this water?  Are there people who farm the plants and squeeze them to get the water out?  Or do you just sit downstream of them with an open bottle and collect the purified water as it goes by?

otherwise it coms from natural spring, which come from water underground, which gets there from the sea.

Ah... so you do drink sea water.  But you dig it out of the ground first.  Interesting.

Quote from: "lizardogre"
but there's absolutely no other water out there, and if you had a brain, you'd know that

I totally wish I had a brain like yours.

I meant plant as in a power plant, like a factory, but for purifying water.

Have you never heard of a spring? It's purified by rocks underground and is like a small fountain of pure spring water.

I totally wish I had a brain like yours.

I know you do  :wink:

Yeah, they're REALLY good, I can't wait for the next one to come out, and if I didn't mesion, each one leads on from the last, so it's best to read in order (it's in order of days of the week). I like them so much, each book is about 300 pages and I read them at night, I usually can't stop until 3 AM :).

Foucault's Pendulum sounds interesting, a bit like a horror story? I hope I find some interesting books here to read, I'm waiting for a new thing to read.

I know, of course you don't drink sea water, it's too salty, but there's absolutely no other water out there, and if you had a brain, you'd know that there are water purifying plants that take sea water, otherwise it coms from natural spring, which come from water underground, which gets there from the sea.

If you believe what the global warming believers tell you, round earth would be screwed too.

No, round Earth will be completely fine, we'll just have a higher sea level, more than 90 % of your water would fall off the edge and there would be nowhere near enoguh water left to give the world a drink, people woulld kill each other fighting overr the water and people would die of thirst, evntually, you would die out, but round Earth would simply build dams to hold the water back, and in the time that this is happening, there will be huge buildings for everyboody to live in, then eventually, because it will be really far future, we'll just build buildings for eeybody underwater.

Say something that must be true because of something else, you can say things that prove amazing things or you could say things that prove things that you already knew, such as;

A flag is made of fabric,
You could say a flag belongs to a country,
My socks are also made of fabric,
So my socks must belong to my country,
I walk in my sock,
So I walk in my country.

These are supposed to be random, so don't say "but the second line was based on something not true", as long as it's true sometimes, it's ok to put it.

Technology, Science & Alt Science / Fun with Infinity
« on: April 23, 2006, 04:15:04 AM »
Theres an infinite number of busses, with an infinite number of people, so it's infinity multiplied by infinity and that is equal to infinity, so I just cut the workload by infinity!

Now, theres only infinite people, which is easier than an infinite amount of busses holding infinite people each, to solve it, you just need some logic.

i x i = i
i = hotel space
i already in hotel
i + i = i
so theres over all i
theres i in the hotel, so everybody must already be in!

So everybody got into the hotel within a nanosecond, job well done!

Theres a series called "the keys to the kingdom" written by Garth Nix in Canada, the names of the books are (sorry for posting more than one, but they all are wicked);

ones that are already out;
Mr Monday,
Arthur is not supposed to be a hero. He is, in fact, supposed to die an early death. But then his life is saved by a key shaped like the minute hand of a clock.
Arthur is safe — but his world is not. Along with the key comes a plague brought by bizarre creatures from another realm. A stranger named Mister Monday, his avenging messengers with bloodstained wings, and an army of dog-faced Fetchers will stop at nothing to get the key back —even if it means destroying Arthur and everything around him.

Desperate, Arthur ventures into a mysterious house — a house that only he can see. It is in this house that Arthur must unravel the secrets of the key — and discover his true fate.

Grim Teusday,
On the second day, there was darkness.
Arthur Penhaligon didn't think he would ever have to return to the strange house that nearly killed him on Monday — the house that contains a fantastical and sinister realm inside.

But the next day brings new challenges — in the form of an enemy named Grim Tuesday, who threatens the safety of both Arthur's family and his world. Arthur must retrieve the Second Key from Grim Tuesday in order to save everything — an adventure that will force him to steal a Sunship, survive a very weird work camp, befriend a bearlike spirit, and fight the void Nithlings. And even after all that, he will still have to venture into the scary Far Reaches for an ultimate showdown.

The stakes are high. And time is ticking.

Drowned Wednesday,
Wednesday has rolled around, and Arthur Penhaligon has an invitation to return to the House that he can't refuse. Drowned Wednesday has sent a ship to pick him up from the hospital…even though his hometown is miles from any ocean.

From hospital room to the high seas, Arthur finds himself on an adventure that will pit him against pirates, storms, explosions of Nothing-laced gunpowder, and a vast beast that eats everything it encounters. Through it all, he is drawn deeper into the central mystery of the House. Arthur must find the third part of the Will and claim the Third Key-not just for himself, but for the millions who will suffer if he doesn't.

The first step? Surviving life aboard a ship on the Border Sea.

Sir Thursday
Following their adventures in the Border Sea, Arthur and Leaf head for home. But only Leaf gets through the Front Door. Arthur is blocked because someone . . . or something . . . has assumed his identity and is taking over his life.

Before Arthur can take action, he is drafted by Sir Thursday and forced to join the Glorious Army of the Architect. While Leaf tries to banish Arthur's doppleganger on earth, Arthur must survive his basic training, avoid getting posted to the Front and work out how he can free Part Four of the Will.

Ones to come out;

These books are the best I've ever read, they're about a boy called Arthur Penhaligon, he is the "rightful heir" to the house of the Architect and must defeat each corrupt owner of the works, with the help from Suzy Turquoise Blue and his friend Leaf, he needs to get together all of the will, and weild all the keys.
The Architect has children aswell, with the Piper, though the Architect has been lost for a long time, the Piper is still around and trying to beat Arthur and take over the house.

Flat Earth Q&A / Just a short question
« on: April 23, 2006, 02:48:39 AM »
No, that's it, they looked outside and said it's flat, then invented loads of stuff to prove it, and according to the other thread, it was some kind of sad farmer 2 centuries ago.

Quote from: "bullhorn"
There seems to be a lot of people on this forum who try to disprove the flat earth theory, and after spending months reading all of the explanations as to why the earth is round as opposed to flat, I have seen time after time these explanations fall short There can only be one sound explanation as to why this is occurring.  This is occurring because no theory for a round earth is antiquate and I have seen many of these theories include what I call fuzzy science fail under scrutiny. It is science that the average man cannot understand and its only purpose is to make the author look half-intelligent.

For the “average man” such as a farmer, who has not been through the ill taught education system, these explanations that include mathematics, geography, physics and complex vocabulary serve as nothing more than a scapegoat for a belief that is founded in lies.  Lets take the average man for example.  When this man looks into horizon at his farm field he can see his entire field, he know that it is flat.  Everywhere that the farmer looks he can only see flat, he can see his corn lined up in rows, his soybeans growing on a flat field.  This man has lived his entire life going to church and never questioning the earth’s shape.  It is only in the last few centuries with the advent of what is referred to as “modern science” that the actually shape of the earth has come into question.  For million of years the shape of the earth has not been questions. Some people have made the correlation that scientists are akin to that of warlocks and sorcerers/witchdoctors. To the average man laboratory test tubes are caldrons, and scientific documents are spell paper.  We have to remember that the average man has not been through the education system, his head has not been tainted by the universities and the school system that serve a self-supporting lie of a round earth theory.

If we as a society wish to teach are children what it means to be educated, we as parents must make sure our children are being taught the truth, please look carefully at the evidence and look at the earth yourself next time you are outside and ask youself the question.  “What do I really see when I look into the distance? A round earth or a flat one?” The answer should be very clear and if you can see a flat earth that you have seen the truth. Remember the next time you question it and ask yourself where the evidence comes from.

This "average man" sounds like a hillbilly with a pitchfork, so you're saying that a hillbilly looked at his feild one day and said "yep, this here Earth is definately flat", spat his tooth out and carried on throwing stones at walkers by, and then, because he grew up on a farm, you beleived him?

I give it an F for Failure.
