Ok, from what I have read so far, I have gathered that you believe that the Earth is disc-shaped.  But how do you now that it isn't a pyramid? Or a rhombus? Or a trapezoid?  The only evidence you have that the Earth is flat is, from what I can tell, whatever you see with your eyes.  Everything else you have claimed, such as the conspiracy and the "dark energy" theory, is mere speculation.  So, by having no photographic evidence, you cannot assume that the Earth is disc-shaped.

The horizon is not a physical object, it cannot obstruct light. Let me make you an earthly example you will like. I am a bacterium on a tabletop...

If I sit on top of an apple which is taller than anything else on the tabletop (which doesn't have a smooth surface, there are fruits all over it). There is a long thread (perfectly straight) which is attached to an orange at the other end, like this:

Now extend the table top, so that it is a bit longer:

And now very very long:

Is the thread ever broken?

However far away it is, as long as the apple and orange are taller than the obstructions (physically taller, not apparently taller by perspective or whatever) there will always be a direct line between them, and the orange will never be obscured from view by anything.

What is demonstrated here (the thread is a beam of light) is that perspective may change the size of things, but it can never change the relative position of things. Perspective will never put the sun BELOW the waves, only near them, and thus the sun can never be obscured by the effect Rowbotham describes.

.....fcku

ROWBOTHAM: THE MOVIE

How one man changed the thoughts of over seven people.

Starring Ben Affleck as Samuel Birley Rowbotham and Tom Bishop as himself.

Coming in The Year Two Thousand and Never.

...stunningly accurate

Google just recently digitized and made availiable for free an important piece of Flat Earth literature from the New York Public Library. It is called "Zetetic Cosmogony: Or, conclusive evidence that the world is not a rotating - revolving - globe, but a stationary plane circle." It is authored by Thomas Winship under the pen name "Rectangle." The author apparently lived in South Africa.

This is an interesting piece of work which gives several convincing arguments which have been lost over the 150 year history of the Flat Earth Society. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Flat Earth history.

If i want to read a fiction book, i just wait until the movie comes out

You're responses make me laugh.

Engineer, some other FE'r told me that not all of the government is part of the conspiracy, just NASA.  So thus Scaled Composites is a government contractor, but by the part of the government that doesn't know about the conspiracy.  Take it up with Rick_James.

I'm just going to ignore EvilToothpaste or whatever his name's comments.

Tedious?  This thread gets funnier and funnier the more people like you come on here and comment about it.

I believe that writing roughly translates to:  Aristotle Was Here.

You FE'rs can be really, tremendously stupid sometimes.

How can a shuttle glide around for two weeks?

SpaceShipOne is not affiliated with the government or NASA.

I read that on a Concorde, people could see the curvature of the Earth.

I'm letting the other arguments go because we seem to be going in circles here and getting off topic.  But your explanations really need to be better.

Oh, come on!

I hate arguing for the FEers, but come on.  NASA has billions in its budget.  I think it's conceivable that they'd be able to fake some photos and videos, pay a few people off, and still make a tidy profit.

Conceivable.  Not likely, but certainly conceivable.

Yes...you see, NASA is part of and by the government...how could the government be fooled by something it  created?

I've seen three shuttle launches and none of them did anything to prove the shape of the earth.  Now, why would a shuttle that did not get into orbit fall uncontrollably and burn up on reentry?

Space shuttle launches themselves do not prove the shape of the Earth, but the fact that they go into space proves that the photos they bring back of the Earth being round are real.

Take the best telescope there is and follow the space shuttle.  You will probably be able to see it keep going off into space...

John McCall,

Please provide a single reference to a terrestrial experiment which has demonstrated the earth as a globe. This experiment may have been conducted at any point in time by any person who has ever lived.

If you cannot do that, you are the stupid person, I am afraid.

Pythagoras proved it with the wells.
You cannot see a ship when it leaves over the horizon.

There....i gave you TWO.

No, not really, because what he had to say wasn't all that bright.

It made perfect sense though, you just weren't bright enough to comprehend it.

sorry, I don't speak the language of internet Geeks...so yeah, in that sense, i'm a total idiot

Flaming doesn't work on trolls or FEs, especially not deluded ones. For normal ones it takes some kind of reverse mega ownage. Since Tom ignores posts that's impossible. He's some incredible uber-|33+age super troll.

If you can make sense out of that, I'll give you 500 bucks.  You're the one who's being pointless, idiot.

You're making a mistake that I made at first, it appears.  You seem to be assuming that just because they insult you, they must disagree with you.

...no, I just don't like stupid people, regardless of what they believe.

I don't see how the person was being stupid.

I'm talking about stupid people overall

No.
