The Lounge / I can't believe it...

I'm actually from Kansas, and they do teach Evolution here.  My Biology teacher was actually incredibly angry about those court rulings.

Flat Earth Q&A / The "Flat Earth" Theory
« on: July 19, 2005, 02:02:45 PM »
So could somebody please answer my first post?  I have heard many different things about each one, and I would just like to see what a flat earther thinks about the whole thing, not just one part.

Flat Earth Q&A / Going 'round the world...

In addition to WTF's post, what would happen if you went beyond the edge of the map?  With our airplanes and jets, wouldn't you think that people would have found a drop off when they crossed the ice?

There is also more than one way to go around the earth.  You can cross a line of longitude or a line of latitude.  Both will take you back to where you started.  In your map, only lines of latitude will take you back to where you started.

Flat Earth Q&A / Going 'round the world...
« on: July 18, 2005, 02:43:05 PM »
As many of you have probably noticed, many people have gone 'round the world and ended up back where they started.  This could be easily explained by having a round Earth, but it seems incompatible with the flat Earth theory.  From what I hear you all saying, the sun and moon circle around the Earth to show night and day, and somehow, the light is distorted while moving through the air (which nobody has given ANY evidence for) and that makes it day in different parts of the world at different times.

The only theory that I have heard about flying around the world is that there are infinite copies of the earth which are all right next to each other to form an infinite flat plane of identical Earths.  If this truly was the case, however, how would the Sun and Moon orbit around the Earth?  Where the sun "sets" it would have to break through the infinite flat plane and thus leave a huge crater in a copy world.  Your thoughts?

Flat Earth Q&A / The "Flat Earth" Theory

So have none of the flat earthers looked at this topic, or are they merely ignoring the fact that they may be wrong?

Edit:  It would seem that I've been duped.  Since nobody's really responded to this topic, I have come to the conclusion that you "flat earthers" were just screwing with us, and you actually all believe the Earth is round.  It was very cruel to put us all on like that

Flat Earth General / A game of sorts...

"I'm certainly drilling no holes in my perfectly flat ceiling for you. Bowling balls are plastic. Perhaps a static charge has built up between them, pulling them closer to eachother. there are many other forces that pull objects together. not to mention all those 'experiments' I've seen at various "mystery spot" roadside attractions.

I've heard the moon argument before. I'm simply saying it's 'convenient' that the moon happens to "rotate" at the same rate it "orbits" at--since it's the most obvious evidence of a relatively close sphere-shaped object."

So let me get this straight, he gives you a perfectly good experiment to show that gravity exisits...and you tell him that you don't want to try it out because you might be proven wrong.  If there is a static charge built up, there certainly are many ways to remove it.  Your own denial to try experiments does NOT prove you right.

Flat Earth Q&A / The "Flat Earth" Theory
« on: July 15, 2005, 03:51:18 PM »
Before I thoroughly own each and every person whom advocates the "Flat Earth" theory, I would like to have an accurate understanding of your theories.  I just want these simple questions answered.

1.  Why do you believe that the Earth is flat?
2.  If the Earth is flat, how do people fly around the world and end up where they started?
3.  What is at the Earth's edge?
4.  Why do you believe that NASA faked the moon landing?
5.  How do you explain the fact that different parts of the Earth are lighted at different times of day?
6.  From what I've seen, the founder of your society believed that the Earth was flat based on things he read in the bible.  However, most people think that the Earth isn't round because they haven't seen it for themselves.  They believe that since they can't see the Earth from outer space with their own eyes, they cannot be sure that it is round.  However, they have blind faith that God exists.  Ironic, no?

I may have missed a few important questions, but feel free to add any more information about your theory.

Edit:
I would also like to see a map (it could be a 5 minute paint endeavor, I don't care) of what you all believe the Earth would actually look like as viewed from outer space.  Since you believe that the Earth is flat, it should be quite easy to draw it.
