Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Consult FAQ

Q: "What's underneath the Earth?" aka "What's on the bottom?" aka "What's on the other side?"

A: This is unknown. Some believe it to be just rocks, others believe the Earth rests on the back of four elephants and a turtle.

Do you know what a strawman argument is?

ill spare ppl the time to look it up with a quote from wikipedia

"A straw man argument is a logical fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is to create a position that is easy to refute, then attribute that position to the opponent. A straw-man argument can be a successful rhetorical technique (that is, it may succeed in persuading people) but it is in fact a misleading fallacy, because the opponent's actual argument has not been refuted."

Okay Genius, what do you need for the acceleration to bend space time? Mass you complete fool. I take great offence at you of all people questioning my intelligence. Especially as you are a RE troll. A crap on at that.

The acceleration of mass causes gravitation. That much is obvious to a two year old.

Unless you have something meaningful to add to the conversation, you can take your fundamentalist, poorly written, Round Earth rhetoric out of here. No one here gives two hoots about your petty little round earth beliefs. If you actually think we care enough about you to hold your hand through basic physical concepts then you are sorely mistaken.

Here's an idea. Maybe you can do a little research for your own damn self and discover the reason acceleration bends space-time. I'm not your teacher.  I'm not your father. Don't go looking for parental guidance on the internet.

but wat causes the acceleration

yes it is possible that multiple big bands could of occurred. very possible because we do not know how the universe was created

but this cannot explain how something will constantly accelerate

u would need explosion after explosion after explosion to even cause this push. you'd need a constant source to accelerate

Yes Tom a uniform gravitational field. Earth does not have one. You lose.

The earth has gravitation. Read the FAQ.  ::)

did daddy abuse you when you were young?

did mommy used to beat you?

did u get get bullied?

did u get dropped on your head?

do you see dead people?

if the answer is yes to any of the above, it would explain why you talk so much crap

dude. first of all, stop contradicting yourself. just makes you less and less credible

you guys get owned countless times on this forum whats it gonna take to convince you that the earth is round???

Nothin will convince them. even if they saw it with their own eyes

they probably believe that camera's steal your sole lmao

How about it bending in space, which you claimed was not possible?

how can light bend when theres nothin to cause it bend

btw, im talking about nothingness space. ie nothin there

if it's an empty space, there's no physical reason why the light should bend

i really hope FE'ers condone this

Well, how about that light bending thing?

the light bending was in conjunction with FE's optical illusions theories

lol

u seem to be in favour of FE here hehe

i just can't comprehend how the earth is flat. too many people who believe RE come up with far too good a point to disprove many FE theories

and then Tom Bishop contradicted himself to me big time

he says the government isn't involved, then he said they are, then he tried to get out of it by trying to make me question what a government is lol

he panicked :P

To note, Tom Bishop is a douchebag. That is all.

the fact of your negligence to assuming me not doing these experments would state you have not done them yourself or you found findings you did not like
That is amazing!  Way to go psychologist!

Let us get a little more specific.  The only 'experiment' you have described is climbing up a mountain and breathing, which I have done countless times (Elbert, Evans, greys, torrey's, all the collegiate peaks, and more).  You claim the difficulty in breathing is evidence for the RE, I claim it is equal evidence for the FE.

Your experiment is pointless.

actually i claims the difference in oxygen levels the higher you go and further backs up that oxygen levels are denser towards the ground, which also links into the fact that somehow it's all contained within the world without it all dispersing and escaping

Okay, lemme run this down for ya:

Flat Earth Conspiracy -- Everyone thinks the Earth is round. They must really fail at their job.
Round Earth Conspiracy -- Everyone thinks the Earth is round. They're damned good at their job.

that just makes it sound in favour of RE lol bad choice of words u chose i think

yes but when your trying to give proof of FE, it would be nice if stories correlated :P
I don't even know who SAID something else and unless I'm supposed to coordinate my responses with the hundreds of newbs who come in here every day pretending to be FEers, I really don't see where you're going with this.

As a sidenote: My "trying" is NOT "to give proof of FE"! :'(

well at least this is a lot more plausible than what the "astronomy 101" guy put in another post. calling me a liar lol. if he's so highly rated, why shout such abuse over a simple theory???

thank u for being logical

all my arguments (which there have been a lot of lately) have majorly been based on logic which can be self tested (btw, i said majorly, not all) so to get slanderous "highly rated members" is appaling lol

Lawl. Astronomy 101 isn't a highly-rated member, he's a damned troll.

~D-Draw

does being a highly rated member of this site mean that you've achieved that you're one of the most ignorant stubborn beings on this planet ? what the fuck does being highly rated on this site have to do with nething of ne of the theories being true ?

you see, highly established scientists go into journals. a journal is a published material that displays important experiments

for something to be creditable, it needs proof

i can rant about FE all day but the fact of the matter is, i don't need to prove RE because any science teacher can do that

but i've seen no real proof for FE. just theory

diego, you contradicted another member

you said about 100 ppl are in the conspiracy

so why did another member argue about Blue Peter when they did an flying thing.

surely Blue Peter arn't part of the 100

who's left? postman pat?
I may have contradicted another member. What's the difference? Why does Blue Peter have to be in on the conspiracy?

You know, it IS possible for two people to have differing opinions.

~D-Draw

yes but when your trying to give proof of FE, it would be nice if stories correlated :P

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Asteroids and Comets
« on: March 09, 2007, 12:35:58 AM »

i've read a few posts that state if we walk off the edge of the earth, we would move at the same rate as the earth because of the "upwards" push
You would move at the same VELOCITY that the earth had when you walked off. You would not continue to accelerate, and you would see the earth accelerating away from you.

Quote
so if everything is being pushed up, it describes that jumping will increase our acceleration. and since there is no friction is nothingness space, would would continue to move faster than the upwards push
When you jump, you increase your velocity relative to the earth.  Once your feet leave the ground, you are no longer accelerating, just moving at that constant velocity.  It will take a small amount of time for the earth to accelerate past your velocity in order to catch up to you.

Quote
using FE "logic" it don't make sense
Using your brand of logic, I'm surprised anything makes sense to you.

ok basically im gonna get no-where by repeating myself

so think of this

if the big bang caused all the planets (which is part of FE)

what creates the acceleration????

and explosion would cause a constant speed

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: How did the Earth get flat?
« on: March 09, 2007, 12:34:28 AM »
if we are constantly accelerating and the this forces us to stay on the planet, we would inevitably be crush extremely quickly
WE DON'T FEEL VELOCITY.  If the acceleration is constant, that is all the force we will feel!

wow. you don't know how to read do u???

do u actually understand english?

i just explained this to an 11 year old and he knew what i meant

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: This is the most rediculous thing i've ever heard

How can anyone possibly believe these crackpot theories of the earth being flat ? this was disproved years ago before a strong government was even established or even able to "brain wash" people into believing the earth was round, let alone around the world.

Dont even pull "read the faq" cuz i have and frankly it's quite obsurd.  Some of the answers aren't even answered fully and some have multiple answers.. what the hell !? Science can, has, and will continue to disprove anything the FErs have to say on this discussion.  What about the questions you cant answer ? the fact remains that if we had no electromagnetic field which is produced from our spherical core and the poles at the north and south ends of our ROUND WORLD that life would not exist at all.

I'm done, this is just depressing to think that actual people with IQs and resources at their disposal, can honestly believe the most retarded theory i've ever heard: that the earth is flat. WRONG ><

lol it's been sed before

i back you up 100%

Well, I was just pointing out that the majority of those who argue for the flat Earth aren't religious--that is to say, most of us are atheists. Also, I was pointing out that you shouldn't listen to trolls as they tend to like making you want to pull your hair out.

~D-Draw

yer i pulled some hair out a few days ago when i saw Saw 3 on DVD. it was terrible

but yer, it's not nice lol

i just can't get my head around why people believe RE is a conspiracy

is it not possible that FE is the true conspiracy??

You're assuming I have not done these experiments as well.  Don't assume.  You have no proof you did these experiments, and I have no reason to believe you.  Regardless though, your experiments don't prove anything.

psychology on it's own is a joke yes. it's worthless on its own

but not if you head with a profession like I'm doing

only stupid ppl take psychology by itself

it takes as long as a medical degree to get into a profession in psychology (ie counselling psychology, clinical psychology, forensic psychologist, criminologist etc etc)

the gravity and oxygen quote you picked out is a logical conclusion. and theory. as i state, theories arn't always true but it uses evidence of real physics to draw a conclusion on support for RE

i stated it's a stronger basis. not that it was the only one :P

learn context plz

the non sequitor quote you so called is known as an assumption. if you believe one planet to be flat then it is very probable for them all to be that way

and how do you suggest this magnetic field is created?????

RE states the earths core rotation is the reason. what does FE say about it?

ooo and back to the oxygen, yes O2 is heavier but have you forgotten about o3???? the ozone???? that should be heavier yet it's way up there

So Tom you admit they don't look photoshopped? Because your only defense seems to be "lol photoshop headers" which is 100% irrelevant.

Images 1 and 3 have obvious inconsistencies with the other images. Obviously illustrations or 3D models of some sort.

Images 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 looks like planet renderings straight out of the original Star Trek.

The remainders were probably contrived through one of NASA's planet simulators.

Quote
Still no explanation for all the photos taken when computers had all the processing power of a wrist watch and were ths size of buildings.

Early shots of the round earth were high altitude shots taken with slight fish-eye lenses. The fabrication of lenses is a technology that date back to the 1600's.

Those "inconsistancies" you seem to see in NASA's pics, they occur because of weather, and the different cameras used to take them.
I think this calls for a great big DUH! for Tom.

too right

he aint no genious

i heard in this topic about the fact maybe models were used instead of photoediting software (which is impossible on the original computers made)

erm think about it. the pics show clouds, not something you could portray realisticly on a model

and acceleration is the constant increase in speed

So what?  WE CAN'T FEEL VELOCITY, ONLY ACCELERATION.  If our instantaneous velocity is 20m/s, and we continue to accelerate at 9.81m/s^2, and our instantaneous velocity at some point in the future is 3*10^7m/s, we would still only feel the 9.81m/s^2 acceleration.  The velocity does not matter.

YES i finally get to do it

use search

i've read a few posts that state if we walk off the edge of the earth, we would move at the same rate as the earth because of the "upwards" push
