Why not, is there something preventing me from digging a really deep hole and falling out the other end?

Flat Earth Debate / Re: INS disproves FE.
« on: May 09, 2012, 11:34:43 AM »
An INS doesn't work on a round earth. It has to be constantly adjusted.

Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigation
Inertial navigation ... Its disadvantage is that since the current position is calculated solely from previous positions, its errors are cumulative, increasing at a rate roughly proportional to the time since the initial position was input. Inertial navigation systems must therefore be frequently corrected with a location 'fix' from some other type of navigation system.

INS is a hideous piece of crap. Its laughable you would hold such imperfection up as proof of rotundity. Desperation has truly set in.

HES resorted to desperation? it's almost like this is the default copy paste answer for any piece of round earth evidence that proves everything you think wrong.

I took a gander at the flat earth shop and i could feel nothing but dissapointment. T-shirts are cool, I guess, but let's be honest, It's seriously lacking. How about some hats, or stickers? maybe some patches and hoodies. How else am I going to express my love for this great society?

4chan, what's that?

This. Is it like reddit?

I think so. I vaguely remember someone mentioning it to me once; it's like a cross between reddit and Gaia Online and basically only exists to rip off both.

It'll never last.
\

It'll never last huh. I dont personaly agree with 4chan and its ideals, but it is however the headquarters of hacktivist group anonymous, so I'd be careful with it.

sometime in the near future I am fairly certain that your theory will be disproved entirely. We are coming closer and closer to public space travel (for those with the money to do so). There is no way that the government and NASA can pay off every cosmonaut and astronomer to keep quiet. how does one keep such a massive fact hidden. You cant.    ???

your whole society is based on an incorrect interpretation of an experiment by an inventor who happened to be a rapist, and he was disproved multiple times
Well that came out of left field.

Would you expand on the rapist part, please?

answer my question please. The one at the very top.

My biggest point againsty the FE theory is what the reason to hide it would be.
What could NASA possibly get out of hiding such a massive truth from everyone, and how could they possibly get away with it? Thats why the entire idea of a flat earth is ridiculous.

No one is getting anything out of hiding something like that from the public. No governments, no organizations, no one at all. Thats all I really have to say

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Some questions about the FE theory
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:22:41 AM »
Hey Eduardo.

Well you posted in the right place so no problems there.

-  Do you really believe that the sun has 32 miles in diameter? As this small celestial body would produce days and nights, four distinct seasons and a wide variation in temperature on earth? Well there is some discrepancy. Rowbotham says 32miles Voliva says 27 but its documented in several of our texts along with the mathematics of how those numbers are arrived at. See here.
- If Antarctica is actually a big block of ice, what about the many scientific bases located near the magnetic south pole?  they are all based around the edge of earth, as you saw how Antartica was stretch around the world in my last link.
- There is any photography of the end/edge of the world? It would be possible to observe space if you are near the edge of the earth? http://www.swisseduc.ch/glaciers/glossary/ice-cliff-en.html that's a link to a picture of the icewall. The weather and conditions get so unbearable closer to earth's edge that we have no idea what the edge looks like. No one has ever returned from it.
- How they occur the solar and lunar eclipses? In the FAQ I read about a supposed celestial body called antimoon. But there is so little information, tell me more about antimoon. http://www.sacred-texts.com/earth/za/za29.htm a link explaining eclipses.
- Since all other planets and bodies are spherical, why the Earth is an astronomical body different from the others? [colo=red] ince no other planet and body has life on it why is the earth different? I guess the earth is just special.[/color]
- You ignore the existence of the Earth's core? No, its there. It is more like a molten lake beneath us than the centre of a ball however
- The amount of evidence about the spherical Earth is much larger than those on the flat earth. There are many more studies and formulas that defend the spherical Earth, but very few on the flat Earth. How do you explain that? Because the governments who want to keep earth's shape from you have the money to fund the globularist "research".
- You see the Flath Earth as a truth or a theory? that's the shape of the earth ???
- Do you believe in aliens? No, do you believe in fairies?
- Do you believe in Earth as the center of the universe? No the earth is moving all the time (accelerating up). It is the centre of our solar system though.
- Do you have any religion in particular? Do you believe in God? I'm a deist. Most FErs are atheist. God is not an underpinning part of our theory.

Sorry if I wrote too much, but I'm really curious. Thank you in advance and I await answers.

Its likely you will have extra questions in response. Pick one and make the thread about that. Its too complicated to have several subjects in each thread. And welcome to TFES.

Thanks for the reply to my lunar eclipse point. but not once on the page does it explain what lunar eclipses are in the flat earth theory.

where do eclipses fall into place in your theory?

No no no you dont get it. antarctica's coastline stretches out that much INCLUDING the bays and ridges on the coastline. your theory would be true if antarcticas coast was a perfectly constant curve, or straight line. but its all jagged and zig-zagged, so it is measured as much longer than it appears.

sorry about the bumping, really. Obviously this forum goes through hundreds of threads every hour, and my bumping may have caused the curiosity of many others to go unnoticed. I apologize.

BUT!

Today the globular earth theory is scientifically adopted as truth.  THEREFORE It is NOT my responsibility to find information regarding your theory. it is therefore your job as the believer to prove to me how it could be true.

Yeah, ok, but as Markjo said there aren't as many flat earth believers as one might imagine. Our conversion rate is pretty low. Make it easier (less time consuming for me). What is your area of interest? What makes you think earth is round and then I'll let you know why you are wrong. :D

Alrighty. First point. Why is it that when there is a lunar eclipse, There is a round shadow of the earth projected on the moon, regardless of which angles the moon and the sun are at? (assuming that the sun and the moon are parallel to eachother, with the earth in the middle?   ???

I get what your going for. you want me to prove the globular earth theory without any outside evidence. Thats what the FE society is all about i'm pretty sure. Making the point that people just assume what they are told is true. This could be pretty interesting. well then, challenge accepted!

Bumping is frowned upon in the upper fora. Your thread might have received attention sooner had you bothered to give it a remotely imaginative or relevant title, but you couldn't be bothered.

Also, I don't know what you expect in the way of a response? No one is going to write a novel explaining all the proofs for you. Read some of the threads. If anything specific jumps to mind, ask a question. But I could talk about the moon and GPS and the history of the society and tides and compasses and etc etc. And its likely you wouldn't read it all.

Flat Earth General / What Evidence?
« on: February 10, 2012, 01:37:47 PM »
I just stumbled across this forum and I'm wondering if anyone HONESTLY believes that the earth is a flat disc, and that the sun is a massive lamp that follows certain segments of the earth, hence day and night. From what I have seen there is far more evidence to prove that the earth is a sphere, but who knows.

Could someone show me some evidence?

I'm asking this out of curiosity, not in the name of criticism.

I'm seriously interested in this idea, and if anyone has some concrete evidence to prove the FE theory, then by all means show me.

  :)
