Flat Earth Debate / Explain retrograde loop

Can a FE'r please explain how a retrograde loop of mars is possible if we don't orbit the sun.   Here's physicist Brian Cox explaining how it works.

Flat Earth Q&A / 24 hours of daylight
« on: January 08, 2012, 10:24:01 AM »
How can you explain the 24 hours of daylight above the arctic circle?  I lived in Anchorage for 3 years while my dad was in the military.  The summer was daylight about 18-24 hours.  In Barrow, AK,  its about 4 months of 24 hour day light.

This is a video that shows the sun does NOT set.  How can you explain this in a flat earth?  Funny how things like this prove the existence of a round earth,  and how its set on its axis at 23 degrees.  Or this this part of the conspiracy too?

I love how all you FErs can only try to disprove all our evidence,  but yet you have ZERO evidence of your own.

Flat Earth General / Asteroid passing close to us

I have a genuine question.   Does the asteroid that is poised to pass between the earth and the moon tonight about 6pm EST prove or disprove either theory?  I remember reading somewhere on here that the FE theory says there can't be any comets.  So is that the same for asteroids?

Ok,  explain this.  If gravity really is the earth moving upwards,   why is it that Canada has a section that has less gravity than the rest of the world.  Is that part accelerating slower?

And what about the earths magnetic field?  Is magnetic north just a figment of our imagination or was it somehow put there by the "conspiracy?"

If the earth is in fact flat,  how is it that debris from the tsunami is making its way to the western US shores?  I thought Japan was on the other side of the world?

Check out the .pdf that shows a model of how is expected to move.   Funny how it isn't headed for a non-existent ice wall.

Also,  the video says he went over 100,000 ft....or about 20 miles.   And you saw how the land looked.  If there are no satellites in orbit,  how do we get accurate pictures,  from every square inch of the earth,  and usually are updated every few months.  And don't say balloon's with cameras because there aren't enough balloons on the earth to take that many photos.   The distance those pictures are taken from is obviously several hundred miles above the earth.  Now balloon would be able to make it to that height.  How does google get so many pictures to map the earth?

I have a friend who worked for NASA for 10 years before going into the private sector.  I think I will give him a call and see if we can't replicate this test and show you know fish eye lens was used.

Then all the guys with the aluminum foil on their heads would just say I am part of the conspiracy too.   I guess everyone is accept for the 10-15 people actually dumb enough to believe this crap.  Proof again there is no cure for stupid.

We could all quit debating this.   Once and for all,  all you have to do is prove it.  The burden of proof is with the FEr's....prove us wrong.  Just because some fool said so isn't good enough.

9
MIT students already did it....for $150.   Of course if an actual FE'r went up into space themselves,  they would claim the conspiracy changed their brains to only see what the "conspiracy" wanted them to see.

Its like arguing with the kid that says "I can move a mountain anytime I want to."  So you tell him to move it....he says "I don't want too."   They have no proof,  and are taking the word of some wacko who started a cult and belonged in an insane asylum.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: How does GPS work if no satellites?
« on: September 23, 2011, 07:20:15 AM »
You probably need to do a little more research on GPS or demand a refund then...

What good would that do?  There isn't a GPS unit made in the world that doesn't lose reception if its obstructed.  The reason is very simple,   its because its getting a signal from something in the sky....a satellite.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: How does GPS work if no satellites?

This is a map of earth.

Around the edge (south) you will notice an ice wall. This is a place where few people can go. The psuedollites are arranged around the ice in a circle around earth allowing triangulation. This is why your dish must point the shortest distance towards South for TV etc.

As for reception problems, these are all down to a cheap and poor quality receiver. GPS radio waves are no different to any other radio waves. They can be obstructed and blocked. You should not be so tight when making consumer choices.

I shouldn't be so tight on my purchase?  I have a 36ft Sea Ray Sundancer,  appraised at over $160k.   The Raymarine unit was over $4,000.    So if the GPS unit is in fact radio waves,  how does it know my location?   My radio,  that does NOT lose reception under a bridge doesn't know if I'm in the water or on land.  But the GPS does lose reception if it blocked for the sky above.   Radio waves CANNOT give a location.  GPS units however....can,  because it doesn't detect radio waves.

IF NASA was such a conspiracy,  then why didn't they just keep using the shuttle?   Why are they even letting Bronson talk about this?  What about the hundred or so private companies that are exploring space?  Why would the govt let this many people even consider finding out about the conspiracy?   SPACEX for example has already achieved sustained orbit.   If there was a conspiracy,  the govts of the world would not even consider letting a private company into space....in which the companies have ALREADY done it.

so let me get this straight......sputnik the Russian first ever satellite is non existent?

why would they want to make that up?
To win the space race.

What kind of radio do you have?  My radio ALWAYS works under a bridge.   It has NEVER gone out under a bridge.  I installed audio equipment in cars back in the 90's...and even those radios didn't fade under bridges.   Satellite radio however....Does not.  But regular FM/AM...works fine under any bridge in the world.
Then your GPS receiver is not as good quality as your car radio.

NO,  you're gonna have to do better than that.   I used a bridge as an example.   A tree,  a building,  a sheet of wood held over the antenna.....WILL BLOCK IT.  Even on my $4500 Raymarine unit for my boat.   A radio however,  is NOT blocked.

Also,  how is it that my Dish Network dish....pointed at the southern sky,  loses signal if I knock it off 1mm.   Anyone in the US cannot receive signal unless they have a view of the southern SKY.   Funny how when you point the dish....everyone in the US points it in the same direction....TO A SATELLITE!!!   If you don't believe me....go tap someones dish and see if they don't come out to see what hit it.   Radio signals do not behave that way.

A surveyor?  Really?  How many weeks did he go to school?  You don't even need a high school education to be a surveyor.  This guy has an engineering degree from the University of Michigan, and his masters degree from Cornell University and over 30 years experience.

As far as the picture,  it wasn't mine.  It was taken from this site.  It might be an interesting read,  but I have a feeling most FErs are closed minded to any kind of evidence.   This guy is probably in on the conspiracy too.  I'm beginning to think I'm the only one that isn't in on it.

wait......FA's dont believe in satellites??
Orbit is not possible, as earth is not round. I would have thought that fairly obvious.

Pseudollites---I love all these made up words you guys have.
Made up words. ::)

Why doesn't it work when I'm under a bridge?
Why doesn't your car radio work when you are under a bridge?

Why is it when I'm in my Chevy Avalanche,  and I'm under a tree,  Onstar can't pick out my location....but as soon as I move out from under the tree....they can.
Again, bad reception from the radio signals.

What kind of radio do you have?  My radio ALWAYS works under a bridge.   It has NEVER gone out under a bridge.  I installed audio equipment in cars back in the 90's...and even those radios didn't fade under bridges.   Satellite radio however....Does not.  But regular FM/AM...works fine under any bridge in the world.

im still lost....FA's dont believe in satellites???

why not?

even if the earth was flat(which its not) you can still have satellites

No,  because satellites orbit the earth.  Depending on how far they are from the surface,  their speed is increased.  Geosynchronous orbit is where Dish Network, and DirectTV satellites are.  The distance matches the orbit so it is stationary.   Funny how if my Dish Network dish moves 1cm and it loses signal.   Bet they don't have an answer for that one.

Nope,  if they could some how get a high powered telescope and look at it...they'd assume it was a hologram or something.

My friends Dad was a bridge engineer for 35 years.  He worked on the bridge in LA,  the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.   He said they did in fact had to account for the curvature of of the earth.   He said any long bridge HAS to account for it.   So is he in on the "conspiracy" too?

This picture shows the curvature of the earth.

That might be the dumbest response I've ever seen.   Paying off Alaska or they're all lying?  Are you serious?  Did you Mom drop you on your head when you were a kid?  Go get an education before responding.   I lived in Alaska for 10 years.  I witnessed the cold winters,  where the sun would set for about a month.  Then,  it would be like early dawn for a few weeks,  then the sun would appear.  This site has really shown me there is no cure for stupid.

I love how all the FEr's answer half of the questions with "I don't know."  You would think that people who believe in something so strongly,  they would actually know why they believe it.  Just because "one guy" said so doesn't sound like a good response to me.

Flat Earth Q&A / How does GPS work if no satellites?
« on: September 09, 2011, 10:11:22 AM »
I have 3 GPS units,  all made by different companies,  marine on my boat,   in my car,  and a hand held used for hiking.   If there are no satellites,  how do all GPS units,  tell the person EXACTLY where they are in the world within 10 feet?  The marine unit tells me the depth of the water,  and where all the channels are...within 5 feet.  And as soon as I take the antenna off,  it doesn't work.  As soon as I go under a bridge....IT DOESN'T WORK.  So,  tell me how it works.  Also,  depending on the time of day,  it will tell you which of the several satellites you are linked with....and will give you a signal of each one.  I've had up to 5 or 6 linked at once,  and the more that are linked,  the better it will give your position.

And another question.  If there is no gravity....how does the sun and moon stay in the air?   Why haven't we ran into it if the earth is accelerating upwards.  You'd think we would have hit the sun by now.  What holds it up there?

Also,  why doesn't the ice fall of the edge?  If the ice holds the water in....what holds the ice on the edge?  Why doesn't it fall off too?

Flat Earth General / Re: Where did the shuttle go?
« on: September 06, 2011, 08:00:55 PM »
Why don't you FErs go to NASAs website,   Find out when the ISS is going to be passing by your area and then go borrow a telescope,  and take a look for yourself.   If the sky is clear,  you can see it plain as day.   I've seen it several times.   It's not like it's hiding.  Anyone with a brain and a half decent telescope can go look at it.

23
Flat Earth General / Re: Where did the shuttle go?
« on: September 05, 2011, 10:52:06 AM »
Here's my problem with all of this.  People have been saying the earth is a sphere for thousands of years.  The people who started this "conspiracy" would most likely be dead now.  So they would have had to pass on the "secret."   All it would take is for one person to spill the beans and expose it.  The vast number of people who would have to keep this a secret over the decades is extraordinary.   If the world is flat,  then there HAS to be a conspiracy to keep the people in the dark.  People have said the world was a sphere long before NASA or even the United States ever thought about NASA.  So why would those first "conspirators" have even done this?

Also,  what about the private companies that are now exploring space operations.  Wouldn't the govt try and shut those down?  For $200k right now Russia will take anyone to space.   Why would they allow that if they were going to see a flat earth?

I live ocean front in South Carolina.  Every single day I see ships coming over the horizon,  mast first.  The people on the 1st floor see less of the ship than I do on the 23rd floor.   No optical illusion is going to produce that....no matter is sunny,  or hazy,  or whatever.  The same can be said for every ocean horizon in the world.

Also,  simultaneously measuring the length of the shadows cast by identical poles perpendicular to a flat surface that is tangential to the earth's radius at various, distant locations. If indeed the earth is round, then the shadows should all vary in length from one distant location to another, which means that the angle at which the parallel rays of sunlight struck each pole varied from one location to another. (recall the alternate-angles theorem from Geometry class) If the earth is flat, then the lengths of all the shadows should be identical when measured simultaneously, since all rays of sunlight that strike the earth are parallel. However, they are not identical, but in fact, varies in such a way that the angles indicate a spherical surface. (This was one of the earliest methods to determine the radius of the earth)

And finally,  how is it I can see the space station with my telescope in the mornings?   Usually about 5-6am just before sunrise.

Flat Earth General / Re: Where did the shuttle go?
« on: September 05, 2011, 08:14:31 AM »
But you guys didn't answer the question.  I have seen several shuttle launches....where does it go when it launches from Florida?  How do you know there is an ice wall?  Has anyone ever seen it?  Who guards it?  Has anyone ever seen the guards or are you just guessing?

25
Flat Earth General / Where did the shuttle go?
« on: September 05, 2011, 07:01:17 AM »
I have an old school friend who is a rocket scientist.  She worked with NASA for I think 8 or 9 years, then went to work with the DOD working on spy satellites.  I have seen 4 shuttle launches,  and 2 satellite launches from FL.  Where exactly did these go?  Are there really any astronauts?

What about the private companies and OTHER countries who are now exploring space?  The founder of Amazon.com is exploring new private ways into space.  Richard Bronson is also exploring ways into space.  So are they and their companies part of the conspiracy too?  Not only is NASA helping these companies explore ways into space,  it is stopping its shuttle program.  Why would NASA let a "for profit" company have access?  They want private companies to let people into space.  If it was a conspiracy,  why would they risk the chance of letting other people go up into space.   Pretty soon in the future you will be able to pay to go up into space.

And finally,  what proof do you guys have of this supposed "Ice Wall"?  Why is it 150 ft...why not 250 ft.  What nationality are the guards...is this just an American conspiracy or a worldwide conspiracy.  I think Russia and China would love to blow this supposed conspiracy out of the water and embarrass the US.

Flat Earth General / Even the atom is a sphere
« on: August 27, 2011, 07:19:46 AM »
Almost everything down at the atom is a sphere.  The moon is a sphere.  The other planets are a sphere,  the sun is a sphere.  Why is the world a disc?  What possible proof do you have?  Just because you said so?

What evidence do you have that says there are guards at the "Ice Wall."   Have you ever seen one,  talked to one?  Or did you guys just make that up too?  The FAQ was saying that they may guard it with snowmobiles.  What about 100 years ago,  when there was no technology to guard it.  Why didn't anyone bring back proof then?

Why is it when a ship travels off towards the west in California,  it ends up in Japan and never hits an ice wall?

Flat Earth General / Re: I found some evidence
« on: August 27, 2011, 07:09:27 AM »
No,  actually it doesn't show a disc.   That first picture shows NASA's Shuttle docked at the International Space Station.  I have seen that space station several mornings when I go to work.  How is it that they can dock to this space station, and they're not in any gravity.

I guess they faked that too.  You know,  it would be so much easier to just actually have a REAL space program than to have so many people fake it.

I went to school with a friend who is a rocket scientist.  She worked for NASA for 10 years.  She then worked for the DOD working on spy satellites.  I guess she is part of this vast conspiracy too, huh?

Flat Earth General / Explain weather satellites
« on: August 27, 2011, 07:04:01 AM »
I read in your FAQ where satellites don't exist.  So tell me how weather satellites work.  I live in SC and experiencing Hurricane Irene this very moment.  How can we see this hurricane coming?  Let me guess,  some kind of psuedosatellite?

Also how does weather work?  Where does it come from?  Just off this supposed "Ice Wall" on the edge?

Are all countries involved in this "big conspiracy" or just a few?
