Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Lack of trust.

Yes, FET should be part of the standard cirriculum.
If FET should be part of the standard curriculum, then there should actually be a standard in the FET to teach. It should also have evidence. It would take a lot of work before FET would even be considered to be taught in schools.

This is true because they really only teach science in science classes.

Yes, FET should be part of the standard cirriculum.

Along with Creationism and Alchemy, right?

ITT: lagnaf derails his own thread.

Haha, this did make me chuckle. FOCUS, LAGNAF. In my opinion, people who tend to subscribe to conspiracies and unconventional theories are generally distrustful of any established authority or wisdom, which I suppose is stating the obvious but at least I'm on topic.

If you are making a reference to what you call "established wisdom" then you are on a slippery slope. That is what tries its best to keep RET in the forefront of understanding.

I don't understand the point you're making, can you elaborate?

Yes. When you wrote "established authority or wisdom" I didn't know if you were saying that having a distrust of established wisdom was the same as saying "distrust of RET?" My point would then be that since RET is so ingrained in the educational system, that there has to be room for the wisdom of FET to take hold.

Should school children be taught both theories?

yes

Why would you trust your other people's findings?

I'm assuming he's not an evolutionary biologist who conducts his own research.

Word.

Wasn't exactly going anywhere.  Just like talking to Creationists, really.

It wasn't going anywhere because you didn't let it. You are derailing your own thread.

I suppose asking direct questions was my downfall.  My bad.

Stop comparing the highly esteemed members of this proud forum with creationist trolls. FE'ers have feelings, you know.

Hanging around in doctors' offices is an effective way to contract strep throat.

Which incidentally is also proof that the Earth is flat.

I'm pleased that we agree.

The tooth fairy agrees with us as well.  So our numbers continue to grow.    :)

I believe it is the most reasonable answer.

You sure you can trust those biologists, paleontologists, microbiologists and so forth?
No i am not, but its not just based on what i am told.

In other words you've gone to the effort of doing your own reading and research to find out for yourself?

Well if i dont have it removed i would die any way.

But surely you trust them that they aren't pulling a fast one on you, correct?

I sore throat or a broken arm isnt going to cause me a great deal of death.

So you'll go in for a broken arm but when the time comes that you need your apendix removed, what will you do?

Yes, because its the lesser of 2 evils.

Are you a little afraid a doctor is going to hasten your death if you visit a hospital?

And you sound like a Creationist.
If only i was.

So you do accept evolutionary biology?

I dont get sick.

I'm envious.  I get sick rather often lately.  If you were to get sick, would you trust a physician?

Since this site is a statement against the scientific community, are all branches of the sciences generally not trusted or are certain parts less trusted than others?  If one is sick, does one avoid doctors and/or hospitals or are the medical sciences on the list of sciences that are trustworthy?

If it's possible that real video from the moon is fake, is it possible that magicians actually make buildings disappear?
If its possible its also impossible.

Is it possible that the technology you're using right now is fake?
Of course it can.

If I were you I'd turn it off and unplug it.  Who knows what nefarious deeds it's programmed to do to you.

Amateurs make fake videos also.

Every video and photo you see is fake if it contradicts your personal beliefs?
No, but it doesnt make it true either.

True enough.  If you were to see a photo or video of the Earth from outter space and it depicted that indeed the Earth was indeed a flat disc, would you believe the photo?
More than likely not. In the day in age we live in, unless its witnessed first hand there is never 100% guarantee that it is correct.

You don't trust anything, do you?

Its not just coincidence that we dont see the dark side of the moon. Its because it isnt orbitting us.

So do you believe it's spherical in shape?
Its a disc.

And it's your belief that the large volume of photos and video of the moon ... in orbit around the Earth... is a manufactured ruse?  Do you believe this because you simply don't trust the scientific community or because you have seen other evidence that contradicts their findings?
You evidence is based on what you have been shown yourself, unless you have been to the moon yourself.

Based on this, i have seen David Copperfield make the empire state building vanish and cats juggling. It doesnt mean that everything we see is real.

Been to the polar ice caps, have you?  Or what about the moon and sun discs?  Been there too?

Why are all other planets, stars, and moons in our solar system and our galaxy spherical?

Do you have any evidence for these claims?

Well I suppose if we throw out the mountains of evidence contrived propaganda provided us by science and instead rely only on our own personal observations, I suppose we shall learn a great deal. ;)

FTFY

I do get it that this little web site was created because of an overall lack of faith in the scientific community.  Do you distrust ALL that science has to offer or just certain aspects?

It depends on its usage. As an indicator of probabilities, scientific method is useful. But it is dangerously false to hoist science on a pedestal, as a means of attaining 'truth' and asserting 'knowledge'.
Do you feel it's the scientific community that is  hoisted on a pedestal or is it the scientific method?  Surely we can all agree that the method itself is not corrupt.
