Flat Earth Debate / Re: GPS
« on: October 24, 2016, 11:04:41 AM »
The GPS satellites (which do orbit at a much lower altitude using the Biefeld-Brown effect) are one of the most direct proofs of the fact that the Earth does not orbit the Sun: the missing orbital Sagnac effect.

tl;dr and doesn't change the fact that GPS is one of the easiest ways to determine that the earth is geometrically a proven spheroid.

Wow.  You've got us there.  Who would have known that a three letter abriviation could blow this website out of the water?  ::)

Perhaps you should go back to Above Top Secret or where ever you came from.  This site is for serious scientific discussion and debate among adults.

No doubt that GPS coordinates precisely prove the shape of the earth. It's simple mathematical fact. And I think you were attempting to spell "abbreviation", and GPS is an acronym, not an abbreviation. BTW, why is abbreviation such a long word?  :P

There are two primary answers.

The first is celestial gears; the idea that the stars essentially form interlocking gears (thanks to their mutual gravitational pull), so as one gear rotates one way, the other will rotate the opposite.
I've yet to find any clear description of what gears contain which stars, but if nothing else that's the gist of one answer, which would allow for stars on a flat Earth to rotate different directions.

The second is Dual Earth Theory, which supposes that the Earth is actually a two-sided disk with the rim at the equator (leave the obvious question aside for now, it does have a surprisingly good answer, it just takes a while to explain), which means the stars you see above you in the south are an entirely different set to those in the north, so can happily rotate in different directions.

There are other models, and I think Davis is working on one with an answer related to non-Eucliden space, and different laws holding, but I haven't seen it fully explained so can't say much more.

In other words, the best way to test the flat earth theory is assume it's true, and just work out the results. Of course this reasoning isn't limited to flat earth...

Flat Earth Debate / Conspiracy Theories

The flat earth is like any other conspiracy theory. The thing about conspiracy theories is the best way to test them is to assume they're true, and then work out the results.

GPS proves the earth is round with geometric precision. Can anyone disprove this fact?

Why do the stars viewed from the northern hemisphere appear to rotate counterclockwise and the stars from the southern hemisphere appear to rotate clockwise? This would be impossible on a flat earth.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Constant Upward Acceleration?
« on: March 04, 2014, 11:11:42 AM »
Well according to the FE theorists, earth is spiraling upward at a constant rate, not going faster. And your fall to the ground starts at the same rate and ends at the same rate if maximum velocity is reached, that speed doesn't change. Why do you accelerate faster toward the earth the higher you fall from instead of at a constant rate. I could list all kinds of other contradictions but those would warrant a new post.

If gravity is a myth and the earth is indeed spinning upward at a constant rate, how come the longer you fall, the faster you travel toward the ground? Kinda busts that no gravity theory eh?

Flat Earth Debate / No Gravity Debunked
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:46:32 AM »
If the earth has no gravity and is spiraling upward at a consistent rate of 9.3 meters per second or whatever it is, then how come when someone falls from high in the air, they travel faster and faster until they reach maximum velocity, which is well over 9.3 meters per second?
