I myself am an atheist but I'm willing to accept the idea of some sort of creation, though I agree with Diego that it is HIGHLY unlikely. I sure as hell don't agree with any form of religion, should a "God" exist, it would be greater and bigger than anything we could understand, religion couldn't hope to describe it so what good is any form of prayer? To borrow a phrase from a film I once saw, imagine trying to explain yourself to a grasshopper and there's your equivalence.

Besides being incorrect, that statement is meaningless. You can't prove something with a self-referential argument - "The Earth is round because the Earth is round."

Show me where it is profitable for the world to believe the Earth round as oppossed to being flat, and why all these different regimes who fucking hate each other and cause world wars would agree to keep secret the fact the earth is flat.

If the government are able to hide the fact that the Earth is flat, they could pocket themselves a nice lump of cash. This cash could be used for any number of things, the most accepted theory was put forward by Dogplatter, which is: The government wish to use this money survive after the Earth so to speak, they want a way to not have to rely on the Earth to sustain their lives after it's death.

pocket cash from what exactly? do they have a bet with someone so they get money everyday we still believe it's round?

Pocket cash from the money they'd have saved from not sending humans into space.

There is also a contradictory element in the FE argument here. You say that dogs are not cats or something along those lines and therefore the earth is not the sun and doesn't necesarily have gravity. But that doesn't mean because two objects are different in one respect, they MUST be different in others. Cats and dogs have similarities, they both breathe oxygen.

Well since the pressure in the troposphere is reduced by 9/10th's, light is bent dramatically due to what is known as the tropopause which affects electromagnetic radiation so here's your maths.

n1/n2=sin(theta2)/sin(theta1)

1/10=sin85/sinx

x=5.7803 (to 4 d.p.)

Note that x is measured from the line perpendicular to the normal (tangent to the ROUND earth) due to ease of calculation.

Therefor the curvature in this case is easily made up for by the refraction due to the tropopause. The reason longer distances objects cannot be seen is due to the temperature change in the various districts of the atmosphere.
