Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Lets see what you've got
« on: April 27, 2009, 06:01:17 PM »
It's your responsibility to figure out the details of your own damn experiment. I'm not your parent. I'm not your guardian. I don't offer tutoring or support. Once you come up with a real experiment we can talk.

Sure Tom. Like I say, you fell at the first hurdle. Kinda hurts your shins doesn't it?

As quoted by Matrix and others, an accelerometer can never measure this "force of gravity" directly. According to General Relativity, an accelerometer would measure acceleration relative to an inertial frame of reference (free-fall), where the ground would be a non-inertial frame of reference.

Exactly. In freefall there is nothing to measure the acceleration against (except itself perhaps), so you get a zero value.

This doesn't mean there's no downward force, mearly that all forces are equal (or zero)

But what if Raist II and the rest of your clones revolt against Raist Alpha?

Why would they do that. I created them. I'd treat them well too. When they asked why they had to do work I'd remind them they wouldn't exist without me. My natural guilt would send my clones back to their jobs.

Your natural tyranny would also cause them to rise up against their oppressor. Damn!

It reads zero in free fall because all the components which make up an accelerometer are accelerating at the same rate. Gravity, y'see, is universal.
Tell that to Einstein.

I suspect Einstein was trolling you.

When you're able to figure out a workable or coherent experiment let me know so we can discuss the matter further.

Sorry, but the "matter" is how you tackle the (scientific) problems you're faced with.

Running away and crying seems to be the answer.

Have you figured out what you're talking about yet? I don't see any PM's in my message box.

Yes I have figured out what I'm talking about. I don't need to send you a PM. You've demonstrated clearly that you can't think for yourself. There's nothing more to add TBH. :(

When you figure out what you're talking about feel free to send me a PM. Until then, lurk more and post less.

That's not a very scientific mind is it Tom?

Falling at the first hurdle. Tusk.

There are some intelligent women. They just are a miracle to find. My current woman is about to give a speech to 2,500 people.

Is she the bag lady on Times Square?

That's because I'm asking you to think things out and be coherent. You can't do it.

You're the one who can't even think up a workable or coherent experiment. When you figure out what you're talking about feel free to send me a PM.

All I'm asking you to do Tom is think how you might get around the problem. You posed the problem (correctly) that the sun would have moved in the time it takes to reach the second (and consecutive) sticks. The problem is not insurmountable.

How would you overcome it?

I can stop considering your experiment because it is neither thought out or coherent.

That's because I'm asking you to think things out and be coherent. You can't do it.

But if I do that then the shadow and sun would have changed position by the time I walked to a point many miles away to place the next stick. What the hell kind of triangulation experiment is that?

Hmm. What could you do Tom? Think, think, think.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: What are the holes in RET?
« on: April 27, 2009, 04:31:37 PM »
Seriously. I saw the imperfect ocean claim that's also being discussed right now, but it isn't very compelling since the oceans are in constant motion through undersea heat currents anyway.

I understand there are books, regarding the holes in RET, but wouldn't it be simpler for everybody if the most glaring holes in RET were presented all in one place? Here in this topic, for example.

Real earth theory says that the sun appears closer at sunrise and sun set. In fact the opposite is true, the sun gets smaller and smaller at sunset until it is a tiny yellow dot. The sun is a star. Stars are small yellow dots.

Either learn to read or stop posting.

Go back and reread your idiotic post at the top of page 5. It's gold I tells ya!

Try looking at the shadows.

Hint: From the sun.

How can I look at the shadow of a stick if I walked several miles away from it?  ???

I would look at the shadow before you walk away.

Are you incapable of reading, or are you an idiot?

Neither, I was simply replying to your achingly dumb post that organisations don't pay other governments to go to war (you then cited the cold war as an example! Gold!)

But now... you're agreeing that Russia and America did pay "other governments". And now this is used to prove your argument. (Where as before the opposite was used to prove your argument)

This thread is gold. Keep it up.

Please read my statement again.  The FE (Flat Earth) is a possibility.  This supposition is supported by the equivalence principle, which talks about frames of reference.

Please read my statement again. We're talking about the possibility of a flat Earth.

I've already shown the flaw in your argument. Not only are you making a special pleading, if you turn off gravity you turn off tides. The fact that doesn't happen is evidence that your theory is incorrect.

The stick recedes and ascends via perception to the level of the eye, just like it would do on a plane. Therefore the earth is a plane. Thanks for contributing.

Try looking at the shadows.

Hint: From the sun.

Even better, boxers are playing a sport they are payed to fight each other, I've yet to meet an organization that pays governments to go to war. Unless you are a conspiracy theorist that now believes the cold war was funded. ::)

You mean like the USA funding south Vietnam, and Russia/China funding the north? Or do you mean like Russia funding the communists in Afghanistan, and the USA funding the Mujahadeen?

This thread is gold. Keep it up.

That's where the observation and thinking part comes in.

I'm confused. Are we talking about "the possibility of a flat Earth" or are we talking about distinguishing frames?

The possibility of a FE is permitted by the equivalence of gravity with continual acceleration, so both.

Wrong. We're talking about the possibility of a flat Earth.

Have you considered the possibility that the bulk of the FE disc is rendered non-gravitating by interaction with the UA field/mechanism?

I don't know what any of that is. I suspect you made it up...

This would preserve gravitation between masses on the surface (such as torsion pendulums), while allowing the FE disc to retain its structure.

In which case you're making a special pleading that gravity can somehow be turned off. Once you turn gravity off, you turn the tides off.

Is this something Einstein showed?

25
No, your mistake is you assume I think that.

Oh OK so you don't think it creates a hole in the theory of gravity.

I am simply saying that the theory is flawed until we can discover evidence of dark matter.

Now you do think it creates a hole in the theory of gravity.[/quote]

Make your mind up sweetheart.

I guess only believing in things that can be observed directly or indirectly is a trait that has been lost by over educated idiots that have never had to doubt anything their professors said. Now unless you are going to show me a link that says "and here we found some dark energy in john's closet while looking for the hubble telescope" I really don't give a fuck, and I guarantee you it won't be new.

I'll take it from that big hunk of WAAAAH! you didn't read the link I gave above. Nice.

You guys need to provide your own evidence which proves your model right.

And the same rule applies to yourself.

All the evidence I need is right there in my signature link, published and peer reviewed.

I doubt any of that has been peer reviewed.

When you guys manage to publish a piece of literature which proves through experiment that the earth is a globe let us know.

Try putting some sticks in the sand, walking a few miles and doing the same again. Repeat. Observe. Think.

Here's nice essay for you to read. It's by Asimov.

We have never observed it. It was put in purely because it was the only solution withing the current understanding we had of gravity. I'm not saying there is no dark matter, I'm saying until it is verified there is a GIGANTIC hole in the theory. Let me put it this way for you Galaxies couldn't exist in the current model until they added dark matter to it. Does that not seem like the theory originially had a teensy eensy weensy hole?

Your mistake is believing that it creates a gigantic hole in the theory of gravity, and not that it creates a gigantic hole in our understanding of the matter which makes up our universe.

Your problem is that you are not willing to accept even the possibility of a flat Earth, so obviously this clouds your judgement during rational debate.

Not at all.

Can you suggest one single experiment which can tell the difference between a uniformly accelerating frame, and one in a gravitational field? I'll save you the trouble - you can't; Einstein himself proved that the two are equivalent and indistinguishable for an observer in that frame.

I'm confused. Are we talking about "the possibility of a flat Earth" or are we talking about distinguishing frames?

I've already explained why accepting an attraction between matter causes your world to colapse. However, I'm still willing to consider any evidence you may like to present.

That's how nice I am.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: "Falling" towards the earth

How does it show the Earth is round?

Because there is an attraction between masses.

...which shows that the Earth is round how exactly?

Its a principle of flat earth theory that the earth and all other things are uniformly accelerating upwards. This is demonstrably not the case, an attraction exists between all matter.

Now accepting this attraction, if the earth were flat then the heavens would crash to earth. Given how close you place the sun, this shouldn't take too long.
