Flat Earth Q&A / Light fall-off
« on: Today at 03:56:27 AM »
I've seen a lot of models where the sun and moon just travel in circles hovering above the flat earth. I don't really get why most of these kinds of models have a spherical sun and moon, but if we put that aside, what happens with light fall-off?

obviously, if you have a sphere, the side of it which is not facing a light source is going to be dark. Now, in most models the sun and moon are very small and close to us, i'm guessing because if they were far and close together, them circling would be kind of pointless. but if they were far from us and far from eachother (and appropriate sizes compared and proportionate to the earth), the sun would have to be very strong in order for light to reach us. but this would mean the entire surface of the earth was lit at the same time. there would be no night. ofcourse, if we're assuming the earth is flat, we might aswell assume the sun miraculously only lights up half the world at a time,as if light just starts gradually disappearing after a certain distance (it does, but why would it be visible continuously for however far away the sun is and then only start fading over the lenght of the earth?) is that what some of you believe happens? is there anyone willing to explain it?

Flat Earth General / Where do you draw the line?

i'm curious as to what you think is believable and what's too far-fetched to even give the light of day.

if you're already rejecting the idea of a spherical earth, do you believe in other conspiracies and theories? do you believe in alternative universes? quantum immortality? irl occlusion culling/hidden-surface determination maybe? why or why not? what makes a theory fit for you to believe and what makes you dismiss it completely?

thank you!
