I'm not sure anyone here really believes in the flat earth - it's just a silly concept that makes for good online banter.

Nobody could really believe it could they?

why not?
people believe in all kind of things, like gods, politicians, moral...

so, why not in a flat earth?
it would explain a lot of things! Like pocket lighters - when ever you need one it's not there! WHY?! because it fell through a small hole through the disc we call earth!

lost pens, keys - it just explains everything!

Damn who cares how old a country is.

And I couldn't disagree with Bush more.  If you want to teach ID in schools, why not teach the dozens or hundreds of other creation myths in the world?  It isn't "evolution or creation" like they are on equal footing.  From a scientific point of view ID or the christian creation is no better off than the Greek pantheon.  This is why if you want to teach it in a religion class - fine.  But in a science class, no way in hell

ok, another attempt...

lets assume the sun is not like a light bulb (of course a flat one), but more like a disc with a lot of glowing strings (like the electrical heaters you often get to see in bathrooms).
When the sun sets the glowing strings can get dimmed on one side of the disc...

forget it, you can't build a working logical system with that flat earth theory...

i really tried  :lol:  and enjoyed the trying  :lol:

Hey Chris, only one problem with your "large sums of money (or maybe death)" thing.  There would be the one or two guys that are brave enough to speak out and say their two cents.  In todays world, their two cents would travel very far.  All one would have to do is get a an internet forum which people know what he does, then let it out.  or tell a news agency.  people would find out if one or two guys spoke out.

how do you think the flat earth people get their wisdom?

i got it! i got it!

the sun is a disc, only one side is emitting light! Every evening the sun turns to show us the dark side (really quick cause you don't get a half sun to see).

but according to my theory the moon has to do not only his own shining, but also the norther lights (magnetic field...whatever...can't remember cause its late on my place on the disc...).

the sun has to able to dim herself, to make seasons happen.

did i forget something?  8-)
