Some of our companies coziness with China is getting to be a problem.

If I don't get a dragon that talks like Eddie Murphy, it's not Mulan.

Not as big of a problem as China being the primary source of most of our consumer goods.

Unfortunately we will never get Disney films like that again.

Disney threw out all equipment and knowledge base on how to hand-draw 2D animated movies in the 2000s.

Who needs visual excellence and technical mastery of craft made ART when you can have shitty pseudo-2D with 3D CGI render techniques?

Sad.

But I mean, SHIT:

Look at that detailed animal movement. The wind waving through the flowers.

The fucking hand-drawn multi-layered transparent water flowing over the waterfalls. In 1950s.  Who does that any more?

The Japanese haven't given up on this art form

Of course not, they are Japanese. They experience the absolute perfection of their craft as a religious experience.

At the height of the hand-drawn anime era, they made Ova's that transcent anything Disney ever made.

I would not in the least bit be suprised if half of the animators and manga artists worked themselves to death in order to convey their story with the largest possible impact.

I mean look at this:

The puddles.
The rain.
The weapons.
The bullet holes.
The muscles tearing themselves apart, each individual strand animated at probably 120 frames per second.
The flesh disintegrating.
Each individual wire snapping.

It is a masterpiece.

And lets not forget the greatest animated sequence of all time:
