I love the Hasselblad 500.  I wish I had one.  I did have a Canon F1.  It was a work horse.  You could drop it off a cliff, dust it off, put a new lens on it, and start shooting.  IMHO, the best camera I've ever owned.

My Dad still has his Hasselblad 500 he got decades ago sitting on a shelf. It is the sexiest of cameras, no doubt. My grandfather had the Minox subminiature which I always thought was super cool Bond-like.

I've got the Canon 5D Mark II, which I love. Solid camera and full frame and all. Coupled with my 24-105 lens, 4.0 all the way through the zoom, I can't go wrong.

I think I need to grab that Hasselblad off the shelf and give it a go.

Pro Tip: don't expose them to a house fire.   :(

My Canon 7d Mk1 is fab. 7FPS is brilliant for ski photos.

But, surely the Nikon P900 is the only camera that can show the earth is flat?

The Nikon P1000 is the goto camera for flat-Earthers and they usually end up showing the curve so much better ;D!

I have an old Minolta X-700 that served me well for a number of years.

Actually, good point. Sorry.

My other "go to" camera is an old Panasonic TZ60 which I pretty much use in auto mode. Takes amazing pics and generally gets the right modes.

The 7D is lovely though. Feels really substantial. I treated myself to a 70-200 F2.8L many years ago and that's a joy to use. Fantastic colours.

Agreed I've had my Lumix TZ60 for 5 years after wrecking my little Sony. I like being able to stuff it in a pocket yet it's still able to take good moon photos hand-held.

But my wife insists on having a DSLR though lately, she's looking longingly at the Lumix TZ80.
Still "only" 30x optical zoom but with a few little extras like post focussing - focus after taking the photo and even combine the in-focus parts.

I get glared at when I suggest that I'll pass my TZ60 to here and . . . .

But it becomes a monster (a high-quality monster) if you want very long telephoto.

Put that in your pocket! But it would take far better photos than the Lumix TZ60.

I bought my Fujifilm X10 back in 2012 and it works fine today and I use it all the time. No need to upgrade.

You people talk about cameras...my fav subject. All the ones you list here were in their day, and still are to some extent, great pieces of kit. I suppose film still has its place a lot of friends of mine still shoot exclusively in film producing some great stuff. I myself prefer the digital workflow and am of the opinion it matters not a jot the badge on your camera its all about your intentions. While new technology does make the process easier to some extent like features like auto eye af,  its still down to the photographer and their eye and creativity. Admittedly it does help if you have some nice glass out front, film or digital.

Compare Ansel Adams to your cousin's vacation pix.  ;D

Yes of course, the person behind the film/sensor box is the most important piece of the puzzle.

However, a finely crafted camera can be a beautiful piece of machinery to see and use.

I've had the fortunate chance to try out a Leica R8 a year ago.  I only got to use it briefly, but when I did, I had no better experience of feeling like I reached the peak of manual focus precision. The craft and detail that went into the R system and its lenses really make it stand in a league of its own.

I feel like Linhof really stands alone among large-format camera manufacturers, design and quality wise.
