Title: Day length, and seasons?
Post by: abaaaabbbb63 on March 15, 2014, 11:59:29 PM
How does the flat Earth model explain days being shorter in the winter. while longer in the summer?

Mind that, while in the northern hemisphere it's winter, in the southern hemisphere it's summer, and at the equator there are no changes in day length and sun position on the sky.

And also explain the arctic night and day that last 6 months each (When it's night for 6 months at the north pole, it's day for 6 months at the south pole).

Take a look a this (http://wiki.tfes.org/Seasons) and see if it makes more sense to you.

That doesn't explain the south pole 6 month day and night.

According to that image, the south pole should experience 6 months of night, and 6 months of day/night cycles once every 24 hours, which is incorrect.

That's not what you asked for.  You said the Arctic.

How does night and day happen if the sun is always above the whole earth?

Light can not penetrate enough of the atmolayer to be seen on the opposite side of the Earth.

How does night and day happen if the sun is always above the whole earth?

They say the sun is like a spotlight.

That's not what you asked for.  You said the Arctic.

I also said south pole (which is Antartica). So.. another flat earth "idea" debunked?

How do you know how the sun behaves at the south pole?

How do you know how the sun behaves at the south pole?

Are you really going to invoke that argument? "You don't know".

Of course people are going to believe that happens.  People think the Earth is a ball and that would happen on a tilted ball.  It is not proof that it does in fact happen, now is it?

And what you said means you're out of arguments. This is the childish arguments part, when you start saying stuff that only a 10 year old would use in a serious conversation, like "How do you know green is green?". You know, admitting you're wrong once in a while will not make you explode.

Why would I admit I am wrong?  What am I wrong about?  What did I say that is not true?

You showed me an image that would describe my questions in the OP. Clearly, it does not. Means that what the image is depicting is wrong.

How do you know how the sun behaves at the south pole?
People live there.

The image answers everything asked in the OP.  You brought up Antarctica and the south pole later in the thread.

How do you know how the sun behaves at the south pole?
People live there.

And, how do you know that they are really there or even what the sun really looks like to them?  It could be part of an elaborate hoax, like the moon landings, but easier to fake.

There are 4400 people living there from different countries. http://worldpopulationreview.com/continents/antarctica-population/ (http://worldpopulationreview.com/continents/antarctica-population/)

From the OP:

It doesn't answer the bold part.

Nobody said you can't go to Antarctica.  We are talking about the south pole now.

Yes I am talking about both. There are people living all over the continent. By the way it is a continent. The south pole has 200 people there in summer and 50 in the winter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amundsen%E2%80%93Scott_South_Pole_Station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amundsen%E2%80%93Scott_South_Pole_Station)

So the people living that are all on drugs or live in a optical illusion. Really!!!

Or, so we have been lead to believe.  The fact of the matter is that we have no idea if we are being told the truth about people living at the south pole, or if they are just on a movie set somewhere.  Perhaps they film south pole films at the north pole and then don't release the video for 6 months.

You do realize that, by applying your logic, we shouldn't believe anything that we didn't see with our own eyes.

Do you think Hitler and the Pope from your sig were real? Did you SEE them?

Come on now. you know dam well people live there. There are people that live at the bottom of south America and south Africa. It is not that far to Antarctica. You say "maybe" or "perhaps". Could you say the USA military never went to Iraq or have aircraft carriers. Like really... jets landing and taking on a big boat?  How can that be. They could never fly slow enough to land. It is all fake to control the world.

I never claimed that people do not live in Antarctica.  People in South American and South Africa don't experience 6 straight months of day or night, do they?

Low content question derived from low content logic.

In south America the longest day is 16.6 hours and the shortest day is 7.7 hours. As you get closer to the south pole. It will become 24 hours. It does not matter people live there. You can play with this.  http://astro.unl.edu/classaction/animations/coordsmotion/daylighthoursexplorer.html (http://astro.unl.edu/classaction/animations/coordsmotion/daylighthoursexplorer.html)

Yeah, perhaps "they" do that jroa.  Or perhaps "they" have set up a series of reflectors to recreate the effect.

Why do you think "they" are doing this?
