I bet Walter commits suicide by cops.

I definitely don't see Jesse killing Hank, but I wouldn't mind being surprised by something like that.

If Hank dies I'd imagine Walter would be the one to do it. Darker and keeps to central tenet of the show: Walter's dissent.

I have reasons to be almost positive Walter kills Skyler, and I feel like the situation surrounding Jesse killikng Hank will be similar to when he killed Gale; he doesn't really want to but Walt pressures him into it, saying it's the only way etc.

Walt has a post-murder tendency to mimic certain behaviors of people he has killed. After he killed Krazy 8, Walt began cutting the crust off of his sandwiches, just as Krazy 8 had. When Mike and Walt met at a bar at one point, Walt ordered his drink neat while Mike had his on the rocks. After Mike dies, Hank gets Walt a drink at his office, and Walt asks for it on the rocks. At the open of season five when Walt is at the Denny's, he is driving a Volvo. A certain Chilean fast food chain owner used to drive a Volvo. At that same scene at Denny's Walt is ordering his birthday breakfast, arranging the bacon strips to show his age. Remember when Jr. would insist that Skyler do this on every one of Walt's birthday's, and she would?

I didn't come up with this, but I saw it somewhere a few months ago. I think it was on 4chan.

Now my guess of Jesse killing Hank is basically a shot in the dark, but remember the tension between Hank and Jesse sparking from the fake phone call about Marie's death to help Jesse and Walt escape the trailer? Later, Hank went to Jesse's and beat the shit out of him, but their was no real resolution between the two. Jesse recouped in the hospital while Hank moved along with the case. Now here we are in season 5. Jesse is essentially in the clear. He's wanted out of all the mess for a while now, but Walt is basically on the verge of getting busted. The whole premise of the show is the change in role of all the characters: Walt goes from responsible caring teacher to selfish crazed drug lord. Jesse goes from petty criminal yolo punk to a maturing, regretful, likable dude who just wants to get away. A recurring theme has been Walt dragging Jesse back down into the abyss Jesse is trying to get out of; Walt making him kill Gale, Walt dragging him back into cooking, etc. I feel like the ultimate way for Walt to fully be "Heisenberg" is to pressure Jesse to kill Hank and resolve the unfinished business, but it will obviously be because of Walt's selfishness.

Who knows, maybe Jesse kills Walt. I mean, he has a few reaons to: Mike, Brock, Jane etc.

Given that arranging the bacon strips was not post-murder behavior, nor in behavior he had in anticipation of a future murder (there was no indication that he had reasons or plans to kill Skyler), I don't see how we can relate it to the trend. The fact that his mannerisms changed to reflect his victims post-murder, was the primary reason to consider his new mannerism as related to the murders in the first place.

It could be that he does things other people do for the sake of it. He might like the variety of crust-less bread and ice in his drink just to try new things.

This prediction violates the time-frame and causality of the established trend while trying to use the trend as evidence. Broadening the trend to include alternate (non-murder based) behavior, weakens the whole justification... unless the correlations are interpreted as insights to hints the writers are dropping instead of the characters' personalities and motivations.

Hmm.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Skylar killed Walter. He's dragged her down quite a bit, and she's started making compromise after compromise just like him. She's admitted she's afraid of him, I don't think she loves the person he became, and she is almost in a prisoner relationship.

The scene at Denny's at the cold open in season 5 is in the future. It is essentially an island in the timeline of the show at this point. If I recall correctly, some time in season five after that first scene his 51st birthday takes place, and Skyler arranges the bacon... Unless i'm misunderstanding what you're saying, it appears you thought that scene was the present.

In television, everything has a reason. Writers don't just write details in "for the sake of it". If writers filled shows with unentertaining, mindless details, television would be too realistic, and in effect, boring. Whether it be for comical or dramatic value, to build the plot or to leave the audience digging for clues, to set the mood or anything else, every object in the frame of the camera was put there for a reason. Nothing is left to chance or coincidence.

As for the possibility of Skyler killing Walter, I won't cast that out of the realm of possibility. However, it doesn't seem possible that this show could survive five minutes without him, so if it happens, it seems likely that it will be the grand finale.

Whoever kills him, I don't think Walter is surviving, and I don't think the Big C will be what takes him out.

I have hopes for Jesse though.  The whole thread of the show seems to be about Walter and Jesse's parallel and opposite development: Walter has gone from mild-mannered chemistry teacher to brutal criminal and Jesse seems to be headed for redemption.

I kind of touched on that a little bit, and cited it as a reason that Walter would make Jesse kill Hank.

I would be ridiculously surprised if Walt died though.

Roundy, I see you like Community. I'd like to hear your opinion on the state of the most underappreciated program in a long time.

Ergh, what can I say, it's my favorite show on TV and it's lost its biggest creative impact and judging by the way NBC's treating it it's doomed anyway.  On the plus side if the show does last for another season (which I really, really don't think will happen) I think Chevy is the most expendable of all the core cast members.

There is actually a whole thread about Community here.

The title shoud be updated with a spoiler tag, seeing as the second half has started and there will probably be discussions on it. Also, the tag would be nice for those who haven't gotten caught up to Season 5 yet.

Episode 9 was kind of boring and predictable I thought. It didn't really strike me as Breaking Bad quality, if you follow me. It felt more like a cookie cutter drama show like CSI or something.

Yeah, they were pretty much playing catch-up for most of the episode, which isn't really surprising since most of the first half of the season was pure filler anyway.

Thank god they at least SPOILERS

didn't drag on the whole Hank's suspicion thing too long, I was fearing it would take like four episodes for the actual confrontation to happen, so I'm happy they picked up the pace much faster than that.

There were only a few parts I really enjoyed.

-The badger/skinny pete star trek script scene

-Jesse smoking pot in Saul's waiting area

-Walt's line at the very end, after Hank flipped on him. In a pretty average episode, that line was great.

I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Lydia, so I'm curious what will happen with her.

I hope the pacing isn't this shitty for the rest of the season.

Also, I think there was too much focus on Skyler and Walt, not enough Jesse or Lydia.

That can't happen.  It would kill the show and there is no money in killing shows.

He might try again, but he will not succeed.

true.

Then again we know those flash forwards take place pretty far in the future. In one of them he makes his birthday breakfast bacon into the number 52... so it's at least to his next birthday.

His last one wasn't that long before the current timeline.
