The only bridges to the mountains in this area are about to go under water and cut off a couple hundred people, followed by flooding of low land areas.

(The water is normally 10 meters lower)

Hawkesbury river, Richmond and Windsor bridges. They should be underwater in the next 48 hours.

Didn't they recently build a new elevated road going past Windsor for precisely this reason?
Edit: Ah, it's still in planning (http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadprojects/projects/sydney_region/western_sydney/windsor_bridge/index.html).
