Title: I have run into a bit of a confliction...I need help from FE'rs
Post by: macron12388 on August 24, 2010, 04:56:03 PM
I have flown high enough to witness the curvature of the Earth...

Oh wait, let me guess...

I either need to check the Q&A
or lurk moar?

Lurk all you want, it still won't make any sense.

@the troll: You understand that by acting like a mod and saying "Thread locked." you've both created confusion and violated the Rules. Please understand that this might be the reason that you cannot get access to the Believer's Forum.

@OP: I don't even need to leave the ground to see the curvature of the Earth. For example, the rising dusk demonstrates the Earth is a sphere quite convincingly. Please reference: http://www.chitambo.com/clouds/cloudshtml/earthshadow.html (http://www.chitambo.com/clouds/cloudshtml/earthshadow.html).

The evidence of RE is clear and abundant.

Ditto for FE to give credit where it is due.

Which part of the Rules did I violate? Please quote the relevant clause.

Most likely the rule regarding membrating.

Wrong. Again I challenge you to provide any reference with verifiable, objective evidence in favor of FE. Until then, no credit is due.

I would like a specific quote, please, as I cannot find a section of the rules I have violated in my first post in this thread.

I believe you might want to abide by this: "Any queries about the rules or their enforcement should be directed to the Suggestions & Concerns board." Thank you.

Since you are the one who made the claim that it violates a rule, I expect you to back it up. Otherwise, please refrain from memberating and post your complaint in the appropriate forum.

ClockTower, I support you fully on this one. I suggest that you make a thread about Parsifal's horrid behaviour in the appropriate forum so that I can express my support for your case once again.

Thread locked.

Since only mods and admins can lock threads, giving the impression that you have the authority to do so is membrating (pretending to be a mod).

My question was a response to your complaint about my conduct in the wrong forum. If you don't want to start an off-topic discussion, then don't post off-topic.

Since only mods and admins can lock threads, giving the impression that you have the authority to do so is membrating (pretending to be a mod).

I meant a quote from the rules, not the quote which violated them.

I don't recall moderating any members in this thread.

I wasn't aware that threads qualified as members.

Who said threads qualify as members? I'm searching for those words and I can't seem to find them. Is this another Parsifail?

As an impartial lurker i have to say that I can confirm Parsifal did not attempt moderate any members.

You attempted to convince a member that you were locking his thread.  Locking a thread is something that only a moderator (or higher) can do.

And locking a thread comment is subject to debate on what his intentions were. Some people just can't handle dark humor and purposely take it seriously. I never once got the impression that this was a member trying to play moderator. This is even regardless to the fact that I don't typically agree with Parsifal. Though for future purposes he ought not to do so :)

And some people can't recognize dry humor and take it seriously.  I've been dealing with Steve (Parsifal) for over 2 years and several name changes.  I think that we know how seriously to take each other by now (that is, not very).

My goodness, it seems about 95% of the replies here were completely unrelated to my original post, what a waste of server space this website is...and waste of air it's inhabitants are, and by inhabitants I mean FErs.

This is their typical means to avoid having to address an op they can't actually address. So I agree with you 100%.

Since you answered your own question in your first post, there didn't seem to be anything to discuss.
