It takes longer to load and is generally shity.
-
Yeah seriously. I don't find it neat or anything like that at all. It's just inconvenient.
-
Images in image search don't even load for me :(

Google Images Canada seems to be it's same old self.
I'm hoping they'll make the old style an option on iGoogle and or Chrome.
-
I like that it's still separated into pages, for some reason.

A quick search for Doctor Who images:
ixquick.com
Search Results: Unknown
Goggle:
Search Results: 22,900,000

A web search of Doctor Who gave me one page and one page only. Allow me to show you...

That's an epic fail of a search engine.
Also, ALL the code is hidden. I'm surprised you'd use it. It's not FREE!
-
I have uninstalled ixquick because I do not support software that tries to restrict my freedoms. Thanks LordDave for pointing this out.

Bing image search was not too bad last I used it, but I can't be arsed to use it. Google is firmly embedded in my mind like a parasite and I am physically, mentally, and emotionally unable to use anything else.

Same. I actually like some aspects of the new setup, but for me there's just too much going on with the new tiled layout. I understand what they were trying to do (make it all about the images, so you don't waste space), but it's actually harder to scan in my opinion. Things like the new search tools and hover pane are very cool though.

I don't actually use it myself. I was just pointing out a possible alternative.

Whether or not software is free is irrelevant to me if I am not running it on my computer. I would not have any control over it either way.

That's.... Wow...
So Basically, Server side software (which is the future thanks to pirates) is ok for you?

I did not say that. I said that software which does not run on my computer does not need to be free for me to use it, since what control the server's owner has over it is irrelevant to me.
Some server-side software, including the PHP program that runs this forum, is acceptable. Other such software, like Google calculator, is not. In general, software-as-a-service (SaaS) is just as bad as non-free software (though for different reasons), while software running on a remote server which is providing some service to the user additional to the software itself (such as web search or social interaction) is usually okay.
-
I'm confused Parsifal, why would you recommend a non-free software for someone to use as an alternative? Would you recommend Facebook to someone, or Flash?

Ixquick is not non-free software, it is a web service. The details of its implementation on the server side are irrelevant. Facebook is similarly a web service, but has other problems associated with it, and Flash is completely different because it is a non-free program that you download and run on your computer.

Wait, google calculator is bad? What the hell is so bad about that?

Is not free and there are free alternatives.

It is software as a service (SaaS). That is, you send Google your data, they process it for you and return the result. SaaS threatens user freedom even more extremely so than does proprietary software, because with SaaS, you don't even get a copy of the binary to run yourself; you are completely entrusting your data to somebody else.

I hate reading that site on my iPhone. For some reason it will not allow me to zoom. I blame "free" code.

Why? Works on every other page so something is different there.
And why are you linking me to non-free web pages that describe what it means to be Cree?

One page of results for Doctor Who? That is worse than crap if it seriously can't find morde than a page for a TV series and cult icon which has been on screen for 47 years
