I've lost respect for that great man when I opened the thread and saw its a GNU site.

No no no, you don't get it. GNU is sort of like Linux, but Linux is Unix, which is the difference.

GNU stands for GNU is not Unix.

Linux is a kernel, as Mr. Fry explained.
